“We’re ready to watch Seven “…
I don’t know about that ..
😱😱😱😱
😆
This is the correct response.....
You'll forever refer to this when you hear ANYbody say, "What's in the box?"
Actually I still think of SNL and their d*** in a box skit when I hear that lol
WHAT'S IN THE BOOOOOX?!?
_Become,_ *wrath.*
UHF will never be the same again.
i can hear it in Brad Pitt's voice too 😭
Great one!
Trivia: Spacey only took the role of John Doe when the producers agreed not to put his name in the opening credits. He was a big enough name at the time that within 30 minutes of watching the film, everyone would figure out Kevin Spacey was the killer. One of his best roles, he nailed it!✌❤
Jay saying “I’ll do life” without even second guessing… I feel that!
Agreed.. I wouldn't have know she was pregnant cause I would've emptied the clip into his face the minute he told he took her head
With a smile on my face
For killing your wife's killer, you'd be a "hero" in jail, but not as a cop.
IRL as a theoretical, I doubt if a judge or jury would give Mills "life", if he even got incarcerated in the FIRST place. Maybe a few years in a minimum security jail, but LIFE? Considering the unusual circumstances, I don't think so. Just my two cents.
@@racistape Its more of a temporary insanity plea, so I doubt he does much time, but will be under medical care.
THE USUAL SUSPECTS!
Kevin Spacy won an Oscar for the Usual Suspects that came out at almost the same time as SEVEN, so it was a big year for Spacey!
Came here to write this as well.. When I heard you didn't know Kevin Spacey that well.. you gotta do this one..
@@diydan2213 you gotta watch KPAX and Pay it Forward, two terrible Spacey movies, lol
K PAX always gets me
I can't like this comment enough. They HAVE to do that movie!!!
YESSSS
Now you have to see "Kiss the Girls", another great thriller with Morgan Freeman as a detective...Also a great appearance by the great late R. Lee Ermey, who always will be remembered for his role as the drill sergeant in the epic war movie "Full Metal Jacket", the last movie of Stanley Kubrick to be released in his lifetime, a must see.
You have to watch "Along came a spider" after Kiss the Girls too. I wish they did more "good" Alex Cross movies (3rd film "Alex Cross" is not good).
Kiss the Girls messed me up! Not sure why but so disturbing.
Came here to say this! Actually I feel like you guys would like a lot of Ashley Judd movies.
1. Kiss the Girls
2. Double Jeopardy
3. High Crimes (also has Morgan Freeman)
4. And just for good measure- Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood (one of Ashley Judd’s best roles)
@@snowthewitchyes to all of those!
Kiss the Girls is a great movie!
Such a moment when Tracey’s face flashes up on the screen when Mills is trying to resist the urge to become wrath. Always gives me goosebumps. Such a clever decision on the directors part. Pitt’s acting in that scene is amazing
I was coming here to say that. Watching his face when he was fighting to keep from shooting Kevin Spacey was incredible.
Yea you can see the moment when he decides in his eyes... I feel like he's a weirdly underrated actor... like people love him and everything but I feel like he's one of those actors where it's sort of easy to forget how good his dramatic chops can be, because he does a lot of silly cameo parts and comedic stuff and doesn't take himself too seriously, but there are a few roles that if you go back and watch, he just blows you away with some of the subtle nuances to his performances.
@@EarnestEgregoreI avoided Legends of the Fall for years cuz all everyone talked about was Brad Pitts looks and hair lol. Ended up one of my ATF movies. Amazing movie and acting all around. SPOILER:
THhe faces he makes when he has to cut out his brother's heart reminded me immediately of the "becoming wrath" scene.
Primal Fear with Edward Norton & Richard Gere
Primal Fear is FABULOUS!!!!
One of those movies everyone should see at least once
@bdmoch Edward Norton should have won an academy award, he was unbelievable in that movie, I can't believe the shock at the end... one of the best performances I've ever seen..❤
Agreed. Very good movie. Very impressive.
This is one of the most intellectual, suspenseful, and dramatic well-acted movies ever.
If this movie doesn't leave you shaken, nothing will.
Bro I can’t get it off my mind, like can’t just accept it’s a movie
My wife and I went to see this movie in the Theater. When the movie was over, nobody left. Everyone just sat there stunned at what they had just seen.
I seen in the theater as well and we just sat there.
I remember that as well. I think it happened in theaters everywhere.
same - this was before there was a "special ending" no one was waiting for a post credit scene, it wasn't a thing then. It was just a need to process... almost a hope there was more, like couldn't believe it was the ending.
"What's in the box???" became a well known movie quote.
The fingerprint tech is Morgan’s son.
Brad and Gwyneth were a couple when this was made.
The actor who played the cop who stood over the sloth victim thought he was supposed to be dead so he wasn’t expecting the gasp, that was his genuine reaction.
Was an expert at getting good 12 point matches on my printing techniques. Actually learned it from a master forensic expert who collected raw fat decomp oil that grew shrooms on the top. When a mummified finger was soaked for a week, it would plump back into life giving a full defined print.
The name of the city is never mentioned in the movie because it’s supposed to be a metaphor for the world, which can never be rid of evil.
One day it will
Recognizing a lot of the actual locations, it always was LA to me.
Yup and it was always raining in every outdoor scene.
@@BDogg2023 I always thought the same. Especially in the end when Freeman said, "California stay away. John Doe has the upper hand." Like maybe he was referring to the state S.W.A.T. team or something.
Wasn’t LA. Doesn’t rain ever there. No cold
To this day I still remember walking out of the theater after having watched this. All of the blank, stunned, and confused looks on people's faces. It was a mass "what did I just watch?" moment.
46:13 "Ernest Hemingway once wrote: 'The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.' I agree with the second part."
A fitting line to end this movie with.
Agree with both parts, personally. Hate this weird view some people have that the world is such a bad and ugly place and the only way to save it is to not make children and have a good nuclear family. Thank gosh I woke up about it. And no this comment was not for u OP. The left just have painted this weird picture about the world, u cant give in to the darkness. That agenda is from the devil itself, this anti-life world view, people are amazing.
That part wasn’t originally how the movie ended. The original ending was the screen went black immediately after Mills fired the first shot. Kind of like how The Sopranos ended.
"How often does that train go by? So often you won't even notice it." -The Blues Brothers 😂
I used to live right by a rail road track in college. You don't here it after a while. I had some friends stay the night and they could not sleep. I slept like dead. Lol!
lol so true... we used to live near D.C. and when relatives from the midwest would come visit they'd be like, "How do you deal with all this constant noise?!" We were like, "what are you talking about?" "The airplanes flying overheard! How do you live with that constant sound?!" lol we all looked up dumbfounded, couldn't even hear em... Went to visit them the next summer, and we were like, "How do you live with this constant noise?!" "What noise?" "The constant trains!" We couldn't hear our planes, they couldn't hear their trains, but boy did we hear each other's ruckuses lol@@snakeeyes7507
The cops were calling the detectives "decs."
Fun facts: The director, David Fincher, didn't tell the background actors that the sloth victim was a real person or that he'd move, so their reactions were real.
One of the SWAT guys was played by John C. McGinley, best known as Dr. Cox from "Scrubs."
The studio wanted a happy ending, but Brad Pitt threatened to leave the filming if they changed the ending.
Actor Leland Orser (the guy who wore the "Lust" weapon) did breathing exercises in order to hyperventilate at will and didn't sleep for a few days in order to look disoriented and disheveled.
Kevin Spacey refused billing on advertising for this film because it would've given his part away
Thats full movie dedication. I love it when a plan comes together!!!!!!
No, "dick" is slang for detective, as in "private dick." That's where Dick Tracy got his name.
Leland also played a great part in The Bone Collector...
Actually, they were calling them “dicks”. “Dick” is slang for detective. Private detectives are called “Private dicks”. It’s been around for decades!
"Dick" is a common slang term for "Detective".
Dead dog..."I didn't do that " amazing delivery and so dark and funny at the same time.
Gwyneth Paltrow's reaction to Somerset telling her to spoil her kid gets me every time.
There a very few movies I have ever walked out with a crowd in complete silence. This is one of them. Nobody spoke to each other on the way out.
1995 was a phenomenal year for the silver screen's crime genre = Se7en, Heat, The Usual Suspects, Casino, La Haine, etc...
Yes. Also Things to do in Denver when you're dead,Copycat,Devil in a blue dress,Desperado and Die hard 3...great year for crime films.
Fincher also made Zodiac, about a real life serial murderer. It has a killer cast too. ... update: I just saw you mention Zodiac after I typed this
You will never hear "whats in the box" without thinking of this movie
Usual suspects Kevin spacey if you haven't watched do so awesome movie
My Favorites you have to see with Brad Pitt - Interview with the Vampire - Legends of the Fall - Mr and Mrs Smith - TROY
AND "USUAL SUSPECTS" 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The Ref
Seven is one of those rare movies that you think about long after it ends.
3 David Fincher films you have to watch:(no particular order because they are all great).
1. Fight Club-Brad Pitt 1999
2. Gone Girl- Ben Affleck 2014
3. The Game.- Michael Douglas 1997
A great true crime drama is At Close Range. Yes, the Zodiac is a true crime movie, about a series of crimes that happened in the late 1960's.
40:57 - That's actor, Kevin Spacey. He was in several very popular, classic films: "The Usual Suspects" (1995), "The Negotiator" (1998), "American Beauty" (1999), "Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil", (1997), "Outbreak" (1995), and "L.A. Confidential" (1997). All superb A-list films; top tier.
Amber would like LA Confidential
Swimming W Sharks and The Ref.
@@bradkirchhoff5703"Shut up, listen, and learn."
Kiss the Girls is another good thriller starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd.
And now I'm blanking on the other one they did together. Was it Bone Collector?
@@daverhoden445, Bone Collector was with Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie and Queen Latifah.
The mayor or DA is Richard Roundtree, "SHAFT"!!!❤
L.A. Confidential from 1997 is a great Kevin Spacey movie.. but he's just one of many: there is Danny de Vito, Russel Crowe, Guy Pearce, Kim Basinger. Also a Police Mystery. About blackmail in Hollywood.
such a great movie
LA Confidential is a wonderful movie...er, as crime dramas go😅 But yes, it was extremely well acted by the whole cast. Kim Basinger was amazing. Throwback to my fave movie genre-Film Noir👍
@@covfefecoffeeluvr5349 if you like film noir, you may enjoy "Brick" with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, noir meets highschool
Kevin Spacey’s singular segment in this movie is nothing short of spectacular…… “become wrath….” this movie is spine chilling, it’s done so masterfully, acted so masterfully, and David Fincher, as usual, a brilliant director
What's in the box?!
In my mind no jury convicts him.
btw, the intro is Nine in Nails "Closer" (precursor) it's such a dark version of that song.
The closing song is awesome too. The Hearts Filthy Lesson by David Bowie.
One of the most epic endings to a movie! I would HIGHLY recommend "The Usual Suspects" for the same reason.
PLEASE watch The Usual Suspects. SOOOOO good!
Great movie. There's another with Kevin Spacey that has a fantastic ending called "The Usual Suspects". Please watch that one.
You should definitely check out " the usual suspects ". GREAT movie also staring Kevin Spacey
This is David Fincher’s second film. He directed: Fight Club, The Game (underrated), Zodiac (my fav Fincher film), Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl…
If you like serial killer movies
Zodiac is a masterpiece
A CLASSIC movie!!! Yes, The Zodiac was a real serial killer. Never identified.
True, but last year in May the FBI announced they got a partial DNA hit on Air Force veteran Gary Francis Poste. Also, Poste confessed to 6 different people that he was the Zodiac Killer while he was still alive, and 3 of them are documented in FBI court affidavits. So they believe he was the Zodiac. We'll never know for sure, but it was probably him (not who they suspected in the movie, but the movie was still very well done and worth watching).
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but if you go to 45:37 in this cutdown reaction, and you may have to go a frame at a time, there is a brief 2 frame bright shot of Mills' wife looking right into camera. Fincher has done this in other films, as have other filmmakers, but it's a subliminal shot that most people won't even notice, or register, or even miss in the literal blink of an eye (regular film speed is 24 images per second, so that shot is about 1/6 of a second long). It's just a flash of her he's seeing as he processes everything that's happening. That whole 'What's in the box?' scene might by my favorite of Brad's entire career. Yeah, it's a dark film, for sure, and not one some people want to watch more than once.
Time for 'The Usual Suspects'
What an amazing reaction guys. Kevin Spacey was such a huge actor that the moment he calls Mills everyone already knew that was Kevin's voice.
I've always said, Somerset should've walked right up to Mills, slugged him, and disarmed him in order to save him from himself.
Seven is a masterpiece! Now add to your list: The Bone Collector, Silence of the Lambs, The Usual Suspects and Kiss the Girls.
12:04 - This security guard in this scene (actor, Hawthorne James) was in a very, very entertaining movie based loosely on the lives of the Four Tops, and the Temptations called, "The Five Heartbeats" (1991). You guys would truly, truly enjoy that film. :)
I feel so old watching most of the reactions to Se7en. When the Cliff Note's doesn't get a chuckle or is not understood. Cliff Note's were a life saver when I was going to school. 😂😂😂
I've never thought about it, but I guess Cliff Notes are now obsolete in the age of the Internet, where you can google written summaries or videos in seconds. Kids today have it so easy in that regard.
Why did you add an apostrophe to the word “Notes”?
I love how they don't show Kevin Spacey's name in the opening credits. Those of us who would see his name, would somehow know he's going to be the psychopath. If you remember back, the voice & the fedora of the cab that picked up Mills, was him also.
Seven is one of my all-time top 5 movies....glad you watched it.
7:52 - This actor (the late, R. Lee Ermy) playing the police captain was also in one of the best horror classic remakes of all time, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (2003). He was also the famed drill sergeant in the classic Vietnam War film, "Full Metal Jacket".
You should check out Red Dragon and first season of True Detective
The best unboxing video on UA-cam.
David Fincher is a really talented director. He got his start directing a ton of music videos for a wide variety of artists, and continued to directing them throughout his career. His first feature was the third film in the Alien series called Alien3, a lot of people don't like that film but I do. This was his second feature film. Then came The Game, Fight Club, Panic Room, Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Social Network and many more movies and he has also produced some cool TV series. He is a profound creative source and major actors flock to him.
Another good Kevin Spacey movie is Usual Suspects. The guy who wrote this was a security guard at a movie theater I used to manage years ago. He wrote the script in the vehicle they used to patrol the parking lot
Now that you’ve seen Kevin Spacey in this, you have to see him in the crime thriller “The Usual Suspects”
These kinds of movies really get you thinking. Love the reaction! I would like to see you watch “Kiss the Girls,” and “Along Came a Spider,” both with Morgan Freeman and base on James Patterson books. Another suspenseful movie that I don’t think go the recognition it deserved is “The Game,” with Michael Douglas.
The Game is a great movie!
I love this film, no matter how many times I've seen it I'm gripped every time. Another epic crime drama you HAVE to see The Usual Suspects. Kevin Spacey (John Doe) won an Oscar for it. TUS is one of my favourite films of all time. When I first watched the reveal, because there'd been so many misdirections, I couldn't believe it. I had to rewatch the ending just to be sure 😂
41:00 - Actually Amber, the actor you're thinking of in "Split" is James McAvoy. Another great actor who is known also for playing the younger Professor X in several X-men films.
Like others said, The Usual Suspects is a great suspense movie.
My favorite part of this reaction.. is Rob saying .. “I’ll DO LIFE”!
😊😅
Must see: The Talented Mr. Ripley. Amazing (Matt Damon)😳
Kevin Spacey is a phenomenal actor. His role in American Beauty was so good.
I can't praise him at all now, in spite of his talent.
@@imaspoon4522 Any particular reason why? Especially since he has been acquitted of everything.
@@tamhwangsaek Unfortunately, acquitted doesn't mean not guilty in the public eye like it should.
Because you heard stuff about him that you didn’t personally witness, and presumed him guilty and demand proof of innocnse instead of the reverse. Hopefully, you’re never on the receiving end of that crap. And by the way, you know every single one of those claims against him fell apart under cross examination, right? Of course not.
@@t1mpani You do know many actors and co stars, said how AWFUL HE WAS. rELAX!
Watch - The Usual Suspects with Kevin Spacey. All time great movie.
Actually, they need to watch it twice. The second time is like watching an entirely different movie.
Swimming With Sharks is better.
Great movie! Other psychological thrillers you will really like:
Identity, a 2003 American mystery thriller film starring John Cusack, Ray Liotta, and Amanda Peet with Alfred Molina, Clea DuVall, and Rebecca De Mornay;
Hide and Seek, a 2005 American psychological thriller film starring Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning.
The twists and turns!!
First thought on seeing this thumbnail...."Oh my goodness!!!😂😂😂😂"
You should watch "The Usual Suspects"
Finally!! This is an intense ride, but worth it. Please consider FIGHT CLUB (another Brad Pitt masterpiece), 12 MONKEYS (Bruce Willis underrated gem) MEMENTO (mind trip), and DECEIVED (90s thriller with the stunning Goldie Hawn and a chilling performance by John Heard). Love y'all, keep smiling! 😁🍿😁 **ETA: THE CELL with Jennifer Lopez is a great psychological thriller and yes, y'all should watch ZODIAC. Jake Gyllenhaal's best work in my opinion.
YES r.e. Memento...such a mind twisting film
Oh man, watching you two optimistic souls getting through this is going to be interesting.
Watch your back Jay! She's learning how to take you out if you don't stay in line.
And now you guys have to see "The Usual Suspects". Spacey won an Oscar for that one.
You should watch THE BONE COLLECTOR..... another good one is MURDER BY NUMBERS
Murder by numbers: a Bullock classic
my first thought when i saw you both were watching this was "oh no"
It's so twisted, but people my age when we see a box, we can't keep "Whaaat's In The Boxxxx" inside
Seeing people see Seven for the first time is a treat for those of us who've seen it. I can't believe you haven't seen this yet! I'm excited for your jaw drops. Lol Oh wow.
When I saw the thumbnail, my first thought was “oh no! Not Sev7en”. Then I just wanted to hug you both while you watched.
Still remember seeing this in the theater… my friend saw it beforehand and took me to see it JUST to watch my reaction to it. It has been the only movie I’ve seen where everyone…EVERYONE just slowly, silently walked out, totally shocked and in awe at the ending. One of the best twist endings ever imo.
Other Morgan Freeman films you need to see:
* Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (with Kevin Costner & Alan Rickman)
* Unforgiven (with Clint Eastwood)
* Chain Reaction (with Keavu Reeves)
* Red (with Bruce Willis)
* Million Dollar Baby (with Clint Eastwood)
* Lean on Me (about a principal brought in to turn around an inner-city school)
It’s still, to this day, decades later one of my favourite movies.
Watch the SAW movies
I love the fact that Mills was set up to be wrath. So smart. Great reaction. ❤
"The world is a fine place, and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part.
This movie bakes in so much and adds even more layers to a classic culture such as Dante's Inferno and Hemingway, which makes it timeless imo
Went to this with a few mates when it first came out in the theatres.
The walk home for us was sucker-punched silence.
I about died laughing when Andy Samberg said “what’s in the box” in “Brad” voice on Brooklyn 99.
The city is Los Angeles and a lot of the grimy interior scenes were filmed in downtown buildings/old hotels. But it's not given a name because like another comment said--it's a 'metaphor'
Despite the shock of the ending, now you’ll understand all the “what’s in the box?” references.
"What's in the box?!?!" We heard that for months after this movie came out!! 😂😂
I saw this movie when it first came out, after it was over, everyone was quiet walking out of the theater… Great movie 🎥👍🏻
It’s very rare in films to have the bad guy “win” at the end. This was a fantastic example of this particular narrative in cinema. Probably the best.
Tonally completely different, but "The Gift" comes to mind as well, although I think a debate could be had for who the villain even is in that film
Only knowing Kevin Spacey from 21 is WILD 😅😂🤣
No matter how many times I’ve seen this movie it still blows my mind. You gotta think that the Writers of the Saw franchise got some inspiration from this film.
That was so hard-core
He’s experienced as much pain and suffering as anyone I’ve ever seen, give or take
And he still has hell to look forward to
I don't think they ever say what city. But in the last scene, Morgan tells the state cops "California stay out of here" so I always thought L.A.
I saw Se7en in Melbourne (Aus) almost 30 years ago when I was backpacking. The cinema had amazing surround sound, and when John Doe shoots at them on the landing the bullet sounds were so loud and coming from under the seats, JUST UNREAL. Without doubt my number 1 film of all time. Every scene is so atmospheric. Lastly the acting from Freeman and Pitt, just genius.
Rob and Amber,
Yes, the Zodiac was a real serial killer- I think the film "Zodiac" showed up in your feed because David Fincher, the director of "Se7en", also directed that film. It's a pretty good watch. I'm sure Amber will dig it because it's right up her alley. Fincher also directed a movie called The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" (the 2011 version, not the horrible recent remake), which is also a very excellent film, and I think Amber would really dig that one too.
Just on an interesting personal note, I have a "six degrees of separation" to three different serial killers, including the Zodiac (the other two being Dorothea Puente, and the third being a rather significant connection to the The Golder State Killer, Joseph DeAngelo). If you ever want the details Amber, just ask.
Anyway, nice reaction as usual.
Identity of zodiac is STILL unknown😮
@@covfefecoffeeluvr5349 he could be related to a victim of Zodiac.
I have a short connection to Bonnie Parker - a friend of mine, his grandmother was her cousin.
@@mhill781 I just visited her grave (and Clyde's) about 6 months ago during a road trip.
I saw this at the cinema when it came out and it blew my mind...what a film!
This is one of the greatest stories and movies ever, the level of detail and depth is incredible and that ending reveal was mind blowing.
The reason a lot of people run to classical music is it lets the mind drift away and a lot of them have a good pace to the music for a runner to get into a groove. I used to run to Vivaldi four seasons
After this came out, some radio show had a mystery guest, you had to ask questions to figure out who it was. It ended up being the guy who played the first victim, Gluttony. That's a real guy.
"I think war is just a concept of how frequently and often it happens" .........barsss
