- Ginger man couldnt tour Fife without visiting its biggest town...Kirkcaldy.
This video is a little longer than usual, but it is the 'lang toon' so it deserved a lang video.

Great town back in the day. You can see walking down the high street so much has closed and been that way for years....such a shame 🥲
Thanks for the video it’s great to see my hometown. The smell which I remember well was of linseed oil.
Brilliant video about a very underrated place. Next time try to see inside the art gallery, it's one of Scotland's hidden gems.
Hey thanks for doing this video - my daughter loves it even more than her previous home in Lochgelly x
I live in Florida now but was born and bred in Kirkcaldy. I’ve not been home in long time. It’s the first decent KDY video I’ve seen. You brought back many memories. Thank you.
Thanks so much Ken!
Best team in fife.if it helps you get out of a dark place ginger man then you are welcome in kirkcaldy any time.👍
Nice video of my home town thanks 😊
What does linoleum smell like? It smells like linseed oil. But Ginger is in the wrong part of town for the linoleum factory, which is north of the town centre.
Linoleum has the smell of linseed oil
I just love the look of that town although I have never been. I am English but it must be such a lovely place to live with that bay and the space.
You should visit after lockdown. That whole coast is an amazing drive with so much to see and do 😄
@@GingerManWithACam I would love to. It looks amazing. I am taken with Kinghorn too. You are so lucky if that is where you are from.
@@Frankie-so3by yeah, I stay in Rosyth, so it's literally an hour's drive up the coast to St Andrews, passing through all these places on the way.
@@GingerManWithACam Wow. Lovely. Take Care of yourself in these times.
Great video well done. Very informative too for everyone.
Since when have they started putting security at the shopping center i moved to wales in 2012 but moved to kirkcaldy late 90s/early 2000s and ive never seen one before
Born in Glenrothes (tiny town) '61 moved Kdy in '68, moved Abdn '81 have always visited between both. Kdy now a big town with problems it didn't bring on it's self but can solve. Glen with problems it didn't bring on itself but can solve. Aberdeen with problems it didn't bring on itself but can solve 'While tied to Westminster' we can't solve these problems.....🤔
They keep building houses in Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes which is somewhat fascinating in that there seems to not be enough local businesses to support the home ownership and I'm not even taking into account the increased value of these homes. You aren't going to be commuting to Edinburgh that's for sure and I don't think most of people living in these towns have work at home occupations either. I would argue they have become too big and it is just creating more crime and dilapidation. They should focus on what is already their and do regeneration. Preferably not burning down what little amount of historic buildings Kirkcaldy has left, which seems to be a running trend.
sad to see so many empty stores on High Street now
Fantastic video! Moved through to Kirkcaldy from Burntisland nearly 2 years ago, maybe see you on one of your adventures soon! Need a tour guide perhaps? 👀👍🏴
Linoleum (Nairns think it was called, along from famous Bentleys)
closed down in 80's
My town! 😃
Yes! Im going to kirkcaldy in 15 january again :D
i can see my car in High Street :)
8:50 - That's where I was working when this video was shot! You must;'e been within a stone's throw of me at some point during the video - I live on the other side of the graveyard.
It's massive.
I have really enjoyed this video, there is lots to do there.
One can tell you are a very passionate man, your enthusiasm is communicative! Carry on 🙂👌🏻
Thank you so much for your kind words 🧡
The security guard at the Mercat was being a bit of an arsehole! You can film anywhere in public spaces! You’d think with the delapidated state of the high street they’d be grateful for ANY publicity!!!
The misconception is that just because a business is publicly open, or shared publicly that it’s somehow the same as your public park meaning, it’s government property and treated the same as government property that’s not actually true.
So don’t get confused with saying that a business is public property, because it’s not it’s private property. Because the same thing applies on corporate property that applies at your own private property, just like you have the right to kick someone out of your house for not agreeing with them the manager of the corporate business has the right to kick you out for any various number reasons.
I mind the motorbike racing in Beveridge Park....... the smell of Castrol R & Buckfast
If you come back to kirkcaldy you should try and find the old tram tracks in and around Dysart and have a look on what Dysart has in store for you also now question for you Dysart has a historical interest and facts many of them really but at Dysart Harbour something was filmed there for a popular TV series that was made out to be in France my question is what TV shows was that filmed for anyway great job well done
Okay I see that a video has been done in Dysart had a quick look I stopped when you stood at the sculpture near or at the car park am not sure what that's for been there for 10 years maybe less or more I know its not that old really anway again great job but if my last comment still interests you then all is still good anyway great job take care
I went to Dysart a couple of weeks after this. Amazing place! Thanks for watching ☺️
@@GingerManWithACam hey yeah I realised when I had scrolled down as I was interested on where you had also been that's why I added the other comment 😅 but you are welcome anyway am about to subscribe also keep up the great work
It was Outlander. I could see the tall ship they used as it was moored just off the coast at Dysart. When watching the episode you could hardly tell where it was because of the mist they use!
Never understood the “you can’t film in here” shit, you can film in the high street but put a roof on it and suddenly some twat in a high vis jacket is having a power trip
Merchants House is now The Merchants House Cafe, a fantastic coffee and cake shop
Ive done a video about kirkcaldy videos and showcased some parts of this video (: , mostly making fun of the mercats no filming policy
Haha love it dude
@@GingerManWithACam yup, you werent missing much mercat is pretty dead honestly
That building is the town house
theres an abandond college in kirkcaldy with 2 seperate abandind buldings next to it if your interested
Went there recently, it's fairly run down but worth a look
