ladies the reason you are struggling with moisturizing w/ coconut oil is bc OIL IS NOT A MOISTURIZER; IT IS A SEALANT!! Now granted some oils do make your hair feel good but it's still NOT a moisturizer or a leave in.
i no longer use coconut oil at all bc it also leave my hair brittle and dry. im one of those people who's hair reacts negatively to it :( it sucks bc i use it for everything lol. i love argon oil.
I randomly cut my hair too, scissor happy. I recently cut about 5 inches off, put my hair in two strand twists and decided to let it lock. No more detangling!
I no longer leave my hair out anymore. I used to leave my hair out all the time by doing twist outs & I got tired of twisting my hair every night just to preserve the curls. I also don't leave my hair out anymore because I'm trying to grow out my hair too.
Winnie The Pooh After I wash my hair, I now keep it simple with my hair. I use only shea butter with an oil on my hair as a moisturizer/sealant or I just use plain ol' Blue Magic grease when I do not have any shea butter on me. I also keep my hair protected 99% of the time by using two strand twists with my real hair or if I'm feeling fancy I would install marley hair for added length. When I would do two strand twists with my real hair I would braid the roots of it up to one inch then I would twists the rest down so that it could last me up to almost three weeks. This is what I now do to my hair. It fits my lifestyle since I am in college. Honestly manipulating your hair too much can be a set back to your hair growth. I've learned this the hard way. Simplicity is key.
A bonnet/silk scarf is apart of my hair bible even when I was relaxed. It keeps the moisture and prevents breakage. I let coconut oil go and anything with coconut in it except trader joes coconut oil as an hot oil Tx. 💞TFS. I'm glad you spoke about yourself as oppose to some of these youtubers who want people to give up their hair practices for whatever reasons, idk! Lol!
I have to wear a satin bonnet. It helps my hair retain moisture and not rub off on the pillow. But whatever works for each of us is what matters. Thanks for the tips!
I no longer wear my hair out..as much. I mainly wear twists. No afro, twist outs, Bantu knot outs. And I do wear my hair covered at night consistently. with Satin lined Caps (SLAPS) or a satin scarf. Bonnets are gone.
My hair was never able to "digest" coconut oil. It leaves my hair dry and crunchy (even the fractionated oil). I love sweet almond oil and even baby oil (in tiny tiny amounts). Baby oil is amazing at locking in moisture, I've found, and the best thing is you don't need much of it at all. I just use about 5-10 drops for hip+ length hair. I also detangle before washing, not the day before but the day of. I have thick hair as well, so I sympathize. ;) :D
Mrs Woodpecker Lol...your comment made me laugh. However, if you turn it inside out with elastic showing and the ruffled material on your edges, you sholid be fine.
Klrod !!!! 👀 Im still scared....It ain't too many things that scare me but thats one.. O and when my momma call me by my Birth name....#borninthe70'sbutmymommastillpunksme😂
I no longer wear my hair out . I leave my hair in two strand twist and sometimes will on twist and then retwist , if not my hair will be a tangled mess . my hair stays more hydrated when I leave it in twist . I used to love wash and goes but then my hair started to change and I said nope can't do it and don't have the patience lol . I also am not a coconut lover when I started transitioning it was great my hair grew alot but it makes my scalp itchy and hair brittle. your hair is so gorgeous
I no longer do cornrows, flat twist, and the likes. Too time consuming. Now I wash and go every weekend and put my hair in a bun during the week depending on how it looks. I no longer brush my hair. I use product to lay it flat instead. I no longer detangle every single time i wash my hair. Now I do it once a month or so. I no longer care for my black bonnet. I wear it once in a blue moon and I don't even own a satin pillow case. I just make sure I deep condition every time time I wash my hair that's all. I stop using coconut oil and stay away from product with coconut oil. For some reason my hair don't like it. My hair grows like weed and since I stop worrying about my hair I experience no breakage.
I can't think I anything that I longer do....I kind of just go with the flow lol. I basically been following the same routine forever. with minor changes here and there. the only thing I no longer do is get relaxers lol
Would you care to share some of the products you use and or make? I've noticed a difference too with ladies who use natural hair products. Thanks for watching.
I'm shocked that so many naturals are saying coconut oil can dry the hair etc. The odd thing is, when I started pre-pooing a few months ago, I love coconut oil but never used it in my routine. I used more castor and avocado oil. My hair is the healthiest it has ever been. Maybe there is some truth to what is said about coconut oil.
I'm noticing that too and your right initially my hair LOVED coconut oil as a leave-in. So I'm wondering (even though we rinse it out) if some of us having some protein overload. It can be a challenge balancing moisture vs protein which coconut oil has alot of. TFW!
I have a satin pillowcase as I can't keep anything on my hair at night and I try to deep condition on Sundays. Also, like you I detangle the day before washing.
Hello 🙋 your hair looks lovely. Is this a rollerset. A beautiful look, you look great. I really enjoyed this video. It goes to show less is BETTER. My hair hates coconut oil too. I can live without it. I cant wait to watch your next video 🙋
I love coconut oil for my hair but MY SKIN!! acne prone skin here gets so inflammed and broken off from residual oil. I think I will try it for a rinse out because I miss it but I like clear skin.
Thank you for this video. I'm just curious where you are located because I need a stylist who has lots of experience with natural hair and can cut my hair into the shape you have. People seem to just jack my hair all the way up: uneven cutting and I just want to do a twist out that falls nicely with the longer layers on top and the bottom cut shorter. Sigh. I'm in CT. Went to a stylist in NY and I couldn't believe how badly she but my hair. I honestly could have done a much better job.
That's so frustrating. My hair actually grows in this shape due to multiple textures. Have you check out any local Facebook groups for natural hair in your area? MoKnowsHair here on UA-cam is in NY and she's a stylist. The Curl whisperer aka Tameeka is also great: www.jadedtresses.com/ I'm in Phoenix by the way. I don't go to a stylist but I know someone who can handle my head if needed. haha
annettemint annettemint Sadly,Tameka is who chopped it up crazily the 3rd/last time I went to her. Ill check out MoknowsHair.Thank you. It’s cool your hair grows that way. It’s a coveted shape😌 Be blessed!
metrini No silk pillows. .☺ Actually if you do a search for "detangling natural hair" you'll find my video. I will be recording a new video that includes the sandalwood comb.
I also no longer use coconut oil. Just this year my hear began to react negatively to it. And it sucks, I even recently started making my own coconut oil but it's the same reaction. And I can't use any products with coconut oil in it either. I wonder what's the science behind it. Hence I stick to JB castor oil and olive oil. I'm not even trying to be extra any more with my oil cocktails. Any body know and great detanglers and leaving with no coconut oil?
Yes I'm reading alot of sisters who can longer use coconut oil. I'm wondering if it's protein build up..or what. As far as detanglers..I either use Jane Carter Revitilizing Leave-in Spray or I make my own using a conditioner with great slip, olive oil, and aloe vera juice.
KittitianGem if you have difficult detangle your hair use slippery elm, or mar-mellow roots,it’s on different channel you can use a spritz with its, or you can use henna helps to keep your hair from tangling , I hope this will helps
ladies the reason you are struggling with moisturizing w/ coconut oil is bc OIL IS NOT A MOISTURIZER; IT IS A SEALANT!! Now granted some oils do make your hair feel good but it's still NOT a moisturizer or a leave in.
Coconut oil isn't a sealant cos it penetrates the hair
My husband will continue to see a bonnet in the bed every night. 😂
Steffmd25 lol
Steffmd25 it is life lol
Steffmd25 Er'Night
Steffmd25 , LOL!!!!! I hear that!!
These comments are hilarious. I told my husband that over 80 people agreed with your comment..and he just sat there staring into space. LOL 😄😄
i no longer use coconut oil at all bc it also leave my hair brittle and dry. im one of those people who's hair reacts negatively to it :( it sucks bc i use it for everything lol. i love argon oil.
I thought I was the only one....I have been using the argon oil as well
Same here. I can't eve use product with coconut oil as main ingredient. Argon oil is my fav. My hair also love back castor oil.
Victoria P I don't use it cause it makes my hair stink
Winnie The Pooh Coconut oil doesn't smell like anything the organic kind
Chocolate Flower so are you saying organic coconut oil doesn't stink??
"What n the actual hell?!" 😂😂😂😁 Your hair is so beautiful and full!
I randomly cut my hair too, scissor happy. I recently cut about 5 inches off, put my hair in two strand twists and decided to let it lock. No more detangling!
Gurl.... if I were criminalistic, I would steal ALL of your hair and weave it in the same damn day!!! It is PERFECTION👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Haha!! 😄😄 I seriously hollered reading this. Lol!!
So true😊
I no longer leave my hair out anymore. I used to leave my hair out all the time by doing twist outs & I got tired of twisting my hair every night just to preserve the curls. I also don't leave my hair out anymore because I'm trying to grow out my hair too.
Empress Ali but what do you do?

Those bonnet's with the ruffle edges are the Devil...They will rip those edges clean out....
Mrs Woodpecker Lol...your comment made me laugh. However, if you turn it inside out with elastic showing and the ruffled material on your edges, you sholid be fine.

Mrs Woodpecker 😁 I can understand that sis.
Mrs Woodpecker really, this may explain why my edges are thinning. I wear those kind of bonnets faithfully at night
sugamehoney .....That ruffle will grab that hair and pull it right out like some tweezers...😧
Not surprised at all, I agree with you 100%.
I no longer wear my hair out . You are an Oprah look alike. Beautiful head of hair!
I've given up on doing a wash and go. I'm now learning how to do twist outs. Oh. What color is your eye and lip color... It is so pretty on you.
Thank you. Eye make up is an old wet n' wild palette and the lip is Violet Volt by Milani.

As far as detanglers..I either use Jane Carter Revitilizing Leave-in Spray or I make my own using a conditioner with great slip, olive oil, and aloe vera juice.
Probably. thank you so much for such a quick response 😄
annettemint Yeeesssssss!! 🤗 I was about to type "Jane Carter" then I saw your comment. That stuff is THE TRUTH! 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾
KittitianGem if you have difficult detangle your hair use slippery elm, or mar-mellow roots,it’s on different channel you can use a spritz with its, or you can use henna helps to keep your hair from tangling , I hope this will helps

Kjoa Liverpool You'll find out in a few months when you have no more edges and the crown of your hair starts thinning. 😳😥☹️Please don't.🙅🏾
BethK NYC ok thankyou!
Girl your hair are so thick,
I agree with you, regarding to coconut oil
u luk so beautiful.😍.
No bonnet 😣
My skin will hate me...
Bonnets aren't attractive. Use a pillowcase.
I no longer twist my hair every night. I now wear my twist outs for three or more days.
