    Which factions do you think are the LEAST beginner friendly? 🤔

      Least beginner friendly would be spain(no economic strength and is a barbarian faction), numidia (bordering Egypt), Armenia (being next to many factions.

    • @retsof_
      @retsof_ 3 роки тому

      100% Numidia, no real strong infantry, main advantage is early archers and strong Numedian Calvary (Numidian version of militia cavalry in greek factions), general econmic zone, you have to either attack fast or reduce the size of your armies fast other-wise you'll be in debt.

    • @snatchy9837
      @snatchy9837 2 роки тому

      Numdia(weakest unit roster and poor) followed by Gaul(mediocre unit roster, split up starting provinces that are poor), then Parthia and Armenia(Strong unit rosters but awful starting economy).

    • @jonsnow7092
      @jonsnow7092 Рік тому

      @@snatchy9837 Gaul is actually pretty OP is you abandon the crap settlements in France and Spain, gather all the armies in Italy, queue up units before going into debt and then simply steamroll the romans. Might be brutal on VH/VH, but on lesser difficulties, you can literally take Rome in 5 turns and the entire Italian peninsula without much of a challenge.
      You start teching up afterwards, and just obliterate everything with the best archers in the game, supported by chosen swordsmen. The temples allow you to get +3 XP Rank and gold weapons on your archers. That's 17 ranged damage right of the bat. Melts absolutely everything, including elephants with the flaming arrows, no other ranged unit in the game can out trade or outrange you (outside siege weapons), so horse archers are no issue. Cataphracts come so late into the game that by that time, you'll severely outnumber anything AI can throw at you. The only real challenge (post Marian romans) don't exist anymore. Gaul is easy if played right.

    Greek Cities included ^^ SO very true. Remember on turn 1 to start getting the barracks upgrade in Sparta so you can have the first armored hoplites on turn 5. Free reign of the early game. Once Macedon and Romans are wiped out (took me 30 turns on Normal to get Rome) I can't say there is any faction that can stand up to well upgraded armored hoplites which are a tier 3 unit beating any tier 4 unit in manual combat.

      Carthage Sacred Band Hoplites are superior to Greek hoplites..but you got to upgrade the city to get that experience.

      @Dan-uf2vh 2 роки тому +1

      @@tommy0747 when factoring in the city's temple, they are not. Only their morale is higher, which should not matter.

      @@Dan-uf2vh Maybe but still ,morale is a big bonus in the game..

    • @Dan-uf2vh
      @Dan-uf2vh 2 роки тому +3

      @@tommy0747 Sacred Band require a law temple, not that Carthage has any experience temples at all. This is why you'll never be able to put xp on them when recruiting. Armored Hoplites are effectively +3 to attack and defense from their base stats at the SAME temple LEVEL that recruits the Sacred Band and if you test that in Custom you'll find the Armored Hoplites beat Sacred Band.

    I would personally say Greek Cities might be a little bit overwhelming for a new player because of all the separated cities which are difficult to reinforce if you lose one initial battle there.
    For Macedon it's also worth noting that their tier 1 cavalry unit is tied for second strongest charge bonus in the entire game. Very handy early tool, remains strong throughout, even.

    • @Norovo
      @Norovo  3 роки тому +1

      I would agree a beginner might struggle to hold Thermon and Syracuse from the Romans, but Rhodes is generally very safe and Sparta should be strong enough to hold its own.

    I am playing Greek cities now, it was rough at first, but once I started producing armored hoplites it became much easier to win battles. Armored hoplites with Cretan archers is really powerful, was able to crush Macedon with them and I am going to attack Rome next.

    • @Norovo
      @Norovo  3 роки тому +3

      Just reaching a similar situation here with my current Greek campaign. Haven't been able to break the stalemate in Sicily because the Brutii and Scipii combined to attack me there but my hoplites are rolling over everything in Greece and Asia Minor.
      Seems to be a controversial pick but I stand by it.

    I don't think that the Julii is an easy faction. Look at this way.. they don't have a temple bonuses like other Romans. And when they start their conquering, the cities they take are also not very rich, with low population and resources..late in the game you will face Scipii who got golden upgrades,also Brutii who's got 1+ morale and 3+ exp. Wait a minute,how can you run a strategy with a Latin proverb "valour is superior to numbers"? Their valour? Against your numbers? You can either run fast to conquer Greece, Carthage to stop Scipi and Brutii from expanding or late in the game you'll get crushed easily..

    • @hukutka94

      Bruts were easiest for me from the three possible romans factions for sure

  • @AmodeusR
    @AmodeusR Рік тому +1

    To be honest, Brutii was the easiest to play with back in the original game. It was in the most interesting area, having as target to conquer the balkans, Anatolia and Egypt, and those regions are much more rich, given the fact the Balkans was a intelectual hub, its population is also quite high and the cities are quite near each other, in contrast with the barbarian tribes of the northwest or the scattered cities of North Africa.

    • @armandom.s.1844
      @armandom.s.1844 Рік тому

      True but Brutii have to fight against stronger enemies as Greek and Eastern factions incluiding Egypt usually are a greater challenge for new players than barbarians, Carthage or Numidia

    Cannot believe you stated that the Greek faction has mediocre Archers. I disagree, the Cretan Archers are the best Archer unit of any faction.
