I think it’s amazing that people spend $100,000 on a pretty jeep to rock climb and you guys are doing it in those old jeeps. Hats off to you guys, glad you and the jeep are ok
Always tell new guy who spent 80k on a new JL Rubicon who goes out with our club got his wife holding the bushes back from scratching the sides of the paint usually they turn back head home.
It’s amazing to me that people don't spend a dime on safety equipment in old equipment like this and then take it on trails like this. It's a good way to get dead. He's lucky that rock under the steering wheel didn't come in and press him right through the bottom of that seat. Use your head.
My kind of Jeeping. Friend and I got a MB3A (I think) Jeep stuck in beach quicksand back in the 70's. There was a thunderstorm blowing in and it was dusk. We had to dig and heave like crazy to get it out before the storm got to us. And we were in the middle of razor sharp pampas grass. We got his pick-up stuck in that mess too. I went back the next day and all the pampas grass was gone and the area looked much different. Glad we got it out. This kind of brought that memory back to me. Thanks guys! This was sweet to watch.
You're 'misremembering' the model designation. CJ3A 'Universal' (1949 - 1953) was the civilian Jeep which was a slight revision of the CJ2A. MB (1941 - 1945) was the standard 'Truck, 1/4 Ton, 4X4, G503' of which over 360,000 were built by Willys Overland during WW2. Ford built over 280,000 of their Model GPW as subcontractor. All of the above were low hood, 'flatfender Jeeps' and parts were often interchanged / modifications made to them by successive owners. They were essentially the same machines with Willys 134 inch flathead, 3 speed floor shift with twin stick transfer case, 80" wheelbase... .
Moab Rim is awesome. The view of the Colorado on the way up and down id amazing. When you get to the rom, the view of Moab and surrounding area is also great.
Lived in Moab for six years live over by Sage and Holyoak , did Moab Rim twice in my H3; I swore I will never do it again. I just hated that trail. Only trail in the Moab area I can honestly say I did not have fun doing. Good for Gramps and good for those old Jeeps.
WoW Glad you weren’t hurt bad Luckily you had a roll bar👍 I like how quick and simple your repairs are!! That’s fantastic be safe and keep the shiny side up from now on👍👍
Great seeing you go up the escalator. Watched a video yesterday of a girl going up there in a buggy and her buggy fell to the side and she stuck her arm out to brace herself and hurt her arm.
I love these old Jeeps but I’d be adding a full roll bar if I was doing any wheeling. My family actually lost a family member after WW2. The war was over and while coming back home my wife’s uncle (ARMY) was involved in a Jeep rollover and died.
I just picked up a 46 owned by the same family since new not the prettiest thing in the world but runs like a charm and am looking for a roll bar everybody says I will ruin the look this is why I want one glad your ok love your videos
Doing trails in the Moab area you had to bring spare parts, tools and know who to repair. Spare parts were reliant on the vehicle and the known weak parts of the vehicle; and all vehicles one and new have weak parts.
@@douglasdever6134 you are right, but you also have to prepare for the unexpected. I broke a leaf spring 3 and 1 half miles in at little sluice on the Rubicon. Fixed it with an 8 foot length of tow strap, duct tape, and home made spring clamps and drove it out. Then drove 200 miles home to get a new set of front springs. Can't carry a spare for everything, sometimes you have to get by with what you have, not what you wish you had. Thanks for your input and be safe. Enjoy.
This can’t be real! Everyone knows you need a JLU Rubicon 392 on 1 tons and 40’s in order to off-road! Glad to see you didn’t get hurt, does it at least have a lap belt?
Excellent hood straightening. I did similar with my tailgate after sliding backwards into a tree and turning it into a banana 🍌. It’s still going if not the straightest
Question for you Stan when the roll bar was mounted into your Jeep is it mounted just to the body with the plate underneath sandwiched in between the fender wells just curious how your roll bar is mounted thanks for your time
This is just s wild stab in the dark, but did you use a chainsaw to build your kitchen cupboards? Sounds reasonable for a dude that does body work with a jeep and a sledge hammer. Great vid BTW.
I get wheeling an old Jeep is cool, but build a roll cage and add a seat and harness. I know 3 people who are paralyzed from wheeling without the proper safety equipment. My buddy has an old GPW with a cage and it still looks historically correct. Don’t crush your skull.
I’ve never pulled the drivetrain apart just for the clutch, but I’m in there every couple of years or so for something and a new clutch goes in if it’s apart. Clutch has never been an issue.
@@Grampas-jeep Do you have a 3 speed? Axle gearing? Watching your videos I would also guess no hand throttle. I have a AMC era CJ5. One of these years I'll make it up to Utah and Colorado.
Quick observation. You went down. You came back up a short time later.... during Easter. Can't help but see it resurrection here. Thank the Lord. Side note, the half roll bar is bad to the bone looking, but always made me nervous for you on a roll. I'm glad that the coolest jeep guy is alright. Peace.
I didn't like the looks of that roll bar when you added it . Guess i changed my mind now 🤣👍👍🇺🇸

The difference is the new jeep is built stronger than these are. This jeep isn’t stock. It has lockers.
@@flight2k5 Do those lockers cost $95,000???
@@bikebudha01 😂 naw neither does a normal rubicon wrangler. This is a dumb comparison.

I put around in baja in a 1953 jeep, the grandkids love it. Glad you're story had a happy ending amigo.
So glad your ok! The roll bar was a wise choice!
I just love that you guys use these Jeeps as intended and don’t just shine them up and parade them around. It’s jeeping at its purest
Amazing! Glad you’re okay!
Thanks
Grandpa’s Jeep is just as tough and resilient as Granda himself!
Great little story and glad you’re ok. Took me a minute to realise but that view as you recover Grampa’s Jeep, it’s stunning!!

Happy you and the jeep are ok. But it's a real shame no one got the roll on video.
That's awesome, glad you're ok and stoked to see ya get right back out there to wheel again the next day. Good job
Nice meeting you in Pocatello yesterday. What a great Jeep. JC.
Thanks for checking in. Good luck with the mb.
Looked like it could have been nasty, but you both handled it pretty good. Maybe time for a windscreen rollbar too? Happy trails buddy! 👍

A brave soul driving that Jeep! Good vid!
Glad to hear your ok nice job on the recovery and body work
I've been a passenger up Moab Rim once. Decided I don't need to see that view in person again unless I'm on my dirt bike.
Great video. Glad you are okay Stan. Just can’t kill these old Jeeps, can’t stop these oldJeep drivers! Lol.
I'm glad you came out unscathed. Thank goodness for roll bars, and good friends. Having rolled a Jeep myself, (many moons ago) I know the feeling.
I have an ‘05 Wrangler and a ‘21 Gladiator and I’m still envious of you guys. FYI… I’m not a materialistic guy, I just love Jeeps.
I'm so glad he has all the boys here with him...
Glad you and the Jeep are ok.
More roll bar please .life’s too short to be old school!!!!!!!
Glad your ok and can wheel another day.
Omg that's crazy. I'm glad he's ok. Please get better roll bars . Stay safe. God bless. 🙏❤🇺🇸🇨🇦
Awesome where these little Jeeps will go with lockers in them. I have CJ3B here in Australia, no lockers but will go anywhere I want to take it.

A roll over ya wall away from in them old Jeep’s is a good one. Glad nobody got seriously injured.👍👍
I will add a roll bar now before I ever decide to join ya’ll. Glad you and the Jeep are ok.
You could not have possibly flipped over in a more beautiful spot.
Nice view the bend of the river.
I have used the levelers on my Diesel motorhome to straighten skid plates from my jeep.
I really love that you crawl old school.

I rolled my sxs on the same exact spot this passed weekend.
Certainly was easy to do. Snuck right up on me.

tough little Jeep , good job .

Walla ! good as new !
That Jeep must be the perfect size for "the escalator" he made that look bit EASY! I’ve seen super modded jeeps and RZRs struggle on that one
Thanks again stan

Of course. Forgot to mention it in the vid.
This is just s wild stab in the dark, but did you use a chainsaw to build your kitchen cupboards? Sounds reasonable for a dude that does body work with a jeep and a sledge hammer. Great vid BTW.
Nice bro 👍
The problem you run into on Moab Rim is the trail is on an angle. So any obstacles have more of an angle than if you were on flat ground
I get wheeling an old Jeep is cool, but build a roll cage and add a seat and harness.

Diferential lock ? Transmission A/T ?
Lockers in both axles. Stock T90 transmission.
Hopefully you cleaned up your oil spill, would have been a nice addition to the video of the cleanup.
We did clean up, and I should have mentioned it in the vid. Thanks for checking in.
Does anyone in your group have slip discs, I saw most of your videos looks like your clearance are a bit high
Not sure what you mean by slip discs. Or what clearances you mean might be high.
Gotta ask how long a clutch lasts?
I’ve never pulled the drivetrain apart just for the clutch, but I’m in there every couple of years or so for something and a new clutch goes in if it’s apart. Clutch has never been an issue.

Does everyone have diff lockers front and or rear
All the jeeps in this video have lockers of some sort or another in both axles.
Thanks Stan
Does anyone have a source for lockers for a 48 2a ?
The only new lockers available for the stock axles are Lock Right automatic lockers.

Yeah when I see people running these types of trails with no roll bar on those old jeeps it just scares the hell out of me.
isn't that the area those 2 guys went off and were killed
Not far from.this spot.
That windshield was just in the way, anyhow.
