    *This is my second WEN tool and they are both great **MyBest.Tools** I needed to do some trim work around the house and needed a scroll saw for the intricate work. No complaints so far.*

    Thanks for the informative video. I'm a newbie in the process of choosing a scroll saw and your video was very useful. Thanks once again.

    Thank you for your review. It was well done and the video is good quality. I was considering the purchase of an Excalibur EX-21 scroll saw, and your review helped me to make my decision (I ordered it).

    Great Video, I do like the tilt head and the nickel test. Great job.You didn't mention how wide the table is in the back. Much larger than others.

    Bob, I've been scrolling 25 years, started with $89. Craftsman. Owned 2 DW788 cut on them longer than I wanted...I wanted the EX-21 for about 7 years (you know the price). I've owned mine for 3 years now, and I love mine. I'm doing some PM on her. I do a lot of fret work so I'm replacing the blade clamps, and a real good cleaning. As you said you get what you pay for in a scroll saw. Thanks for the video.

    Good video Bob, just one point, to check your blade is at 90 there is a push button with the tilt control to give you a positive setting for many pre set angles

    Joe Davis, I have not had that problem with my EX 30 but I have seen reviews where this problem has occurred. They would remove the screw which holds the blade and slightly sand it flat which gave a better grip on the blade. It wasn't the Excalibur saw but I would assume it would work on any scroll saw. Good Luck and have fun

    Very informative. I've had my EX-30 for several months now. My main complaint is that the blade slips its grip for no apparent reason. Sometimes it come out of the upper grip and sometimes from the bottom, no matter how careful I am when I insert the blade. When I get it apparently correct, it is fine, but I can't figure out how to ensure the blade is installed so it will stay put on a consistent basis.

    ScrollSaw, I have owned the EX-30 for a little over 2 years and you mentioned that you had scratched your table when changing blades. If you would have and continue to put some car wax on your table from time to time, that will aid in not having those scratches. I service my saw as I do all of my tools on a regular bases. I blow it off with an air hose, I will apply a little oil on connections even though you don't have to and of course wax the table. Enjoyed your video.

      +Daniel Choate I've had a few saw in 25 years, and I wax all mine and they still scratch if you cut as much as I do. Only DW 788 was a little better at hiding it. My wax day is every Thur. scratches don't do much but I like the way the wood turns :)

    Very informative video. Good audio and great video quality. Does the EX 21 mean that the capacity is 21"?

      @Scrollsawforum1  7 років тому

      Hi Wayne, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Yes, indeed the 21 means that the saw has a 21" cutting capacity from the blade to the rear vertical piece...Bob

    It's several years since your video how is your Excalibur, Ex- 21 scroll saw preforming for you. Thank you for your video. I am considering replacing my 30 some year old WOODTEK SCROLL SAW was used for about 5, 6 years then stored and now about 3 years, I think I need to set the woodtek to the side and get a new modern low vibration scroll saw to enjoy and play around with. Again I thank you for your video.

      Hi Raymond, After about 7 years of use, I must say I still use my EX-21 just about every day. I have built a nice side business with it so it does get a lot of use. I did need to rebuild the arms last year and now it runs like new again. If I had to buy one again, I would, only I would buy the 16". After seven years, I have never needed the extra size and all the larger size does is take up more space in my garage. There are many Excalibur like copies out there now and most of them seem to be direct replicas with a few different features. I wouldn't have a problem buying one of those in a 16 " throat size. Good luck with your scrolling and make sure when you do buy a saw, it has a good solid base or stand, which is the most important item for limiting vibration. Bob

    i got my new ex21 excalibur before i did any cut did a blade check,, set square on the blade was ok then check for this blade movment this was true to 0.002mm on dti gauge .it came with a pegas in it,it a wide blade at the top and bottom and found it sits in to the blade holder very well.i use flying duchman there very fine blade and tend to not seat well in the holder and when this happen you get a lot of blade movement .putting the down to not putting the blade in wright and the locking screw moving the blade in the hold when nipping up the blade and also a left cut to the blade angle because of the blade been small it top and bottom in size,

    • @Scrollsawforum1
      @Scrollsawforum1  10 років тому

      Neil, Congratulations on your new EX-21. I also us Flying Dutchman blades and have not had the same issue I think your having. Here are a couple suggestions. Check to make sure the screws on the left side of the holder are in the same spot (even with the inside of the blade holder) it's a good idea to put a little thread locker on them to keep them secure. Second, when installing your blade, make sure that you put it all the way to the back of the blade holder and it sits flat against the back. I do this on the top holder and the bottom one just falls in place.
      Hope this helps.
      Bob

    Can anyone please tell me the difference between the slow speed and the high speed off of a scroll saw? Slow speed for cutting bigger pieces of wood and high speed for thin material?

    I know that this is a bit late, but I have found two solutions to your miner problems: 1) the table scratches, you can Stick self-adhesive foil on top of the table, in what color you prefer. 2) on the thumbscrew, I use a small spanner to loosen it, if it is necessary.

    I've had my excalibur scroll saw for 3 months since November 5 and it won't start. I was cutting fret work, finished a cut, turned it off, put the blade in the next hole, tried to turn it on and nothing. I've been using scroll saws for 28 years since 1988 and this is the first time this has happened. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. I tried plugging it into a different outlet and it still won't work. It had a 30 day warranty fro the place I bought it which is expired. I hope the manufacturer will help.

    • @Scrollsawforum1
      @Scrollsawforum1  8 років тому +2

      +soapmaker353 I would make sure that the plug is securely installed at the motor where the cord plugs into the saw. I would also check to make sure you do not have a tripped circuit breaker in your house panel. If all that is ok, than you might have a defective on/off switch on your saw. I would call the manufacturer, the info is in your manual, Excalibur is very good with customer service.

    • @soapmaker353
      @soapmaker353 8 років тому +1

      +ScrollSawParadise Thank you! It is the switch. I turned it on and off until it finally turned back on. I will call the manufacturer. Thank you for the suggestion.

    • @Scrollsawforum1
      @Scrollsawforum1  8 років тому

      +soapmaker353 I'm glad you narrowed it down to the switch. If you bought yourself a foot pedal, you could just leave the power switch on and never have to use it, the foot pedal will turn the saw on and off as you cut just by pushing on the pedal. If you are interested, here is a link where you can purchase a foot pedal. www.amazon.com/MLCS-9080-Billy-Switch-Deadman/dp/B000LJNJOE/ref=as_sl_pc_tf_til?tag=scrolltriplb-20&linkCode=w00&linkId=PQXMHTZTMRN4BC75&creativeASIN=B000LJNJOE

    Is that stand on top of the extension cord pinching it? C'mon.

    • @Scrollsawforum1
      @Scrollsawforum1  5 років тому

      Hey Robert, No the stand is not on the cord. The Excalibur stand has isolation pads on the bottom of each foot which raises it off of the ground. The cord is simply under the stand because the bottom of the stand is raised off of the floor. The Iso pads are round and do not cover the entire area of the stands foot. I do understand how the picture makes it look like the stand is sitting directly on top of the cord, but I assure you, it is not,..Bob
