    the viper shape is my favorite of the sg types, it has that offset look/feel of a jazzmaster but with an sg shape 👌... but man, that headstock is massive!!

    I've been really interested in these Black/Arctic Metal LTDs since they're basically metal versions of "Junior" guitars, which are my personal favorite type of guitar.

    I got a viper 1000 in 2008 maybe ? Loved it in the store. But when I got home and tried it standing up I noticed much more neck dive than my gibson SG. I returned it same day and got a vintage 30 cab instead

    I was seriously looking at getting an LTD viper baritone. But the viper much like the SG just always feels like the neck is really far forward. Which to me is fine with a standard scale length but with the extended baritone scale length and the body shape already putting the neck farther forward I was worried that it would feel like the neck was way out there in front and feel like a reach. But I haven’t actually tried or played one. So if anybody has okayed one or owns one I’m curious if that’s the case and the nut feels really far away.

  • @knoxewitherspoon

    Hey man big fan of the channel. I was wondering what gauge of strings you use on most of your 6 string baritone guitars. Like around the 27in scale length range.

    • @thet740
      @thet740 Рік тому +1

      27'' scale is in the neighborhood of 8-String territory. I'd imagine it could do F# pretty easily without going crazy on the string gauge thickness.

    • @michawee
      @michawee Рік тому

      Drop e with 80 gauge strings on 27“ works for me. It’s tight enough, so I guess you could go lower if you don’t mind a floppier feel

    What's the difference between a six string baritone vs a 7 string? What's the tuning for this?

    • @christopherspeck1287
      @christopherspeck1287 Рік тому

      Let’s see if I can answer this articulately. A six string baritone is a six string typically tuned B to B rather than E standard which can be anything from 26.5” to 30” scale and a 7 string is tuned E standard with an extra low B so BEADGBE but personally to classify a 7 string as a baritone for me I’d say it would need to be like this one that was demoed at 27” scale minimum.

    • @christopherspeck1287
      @christopherspeck1287 Рік тому

      Sorry to double post in the comments, Ray. But to clear up for the comment I was replying to when I was speaking about B to B tuning for the six string baritone and B standard for the 7, I sheerly meant that was the default tuning they come in out of the box so to speak.
