How to Get the Master Sword (3 Easy Ways) in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

- In this video, I explain where to find, and how to get the Master Sword in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The only true requirement needed to get this powerful weapon is simple: 2 full wheels of stamina.
Once you have the required stamina, you must seek out the Light Dragon throughout the skies of Hyrule, land on it and pull the legendary sword from it's head. After doing so, the sword is officially yours!
The Master Sword is unlike any other weapon, as it does not "break". Instead, it has an energy limit that is used up each time you strike an enemy with it. Once the energy is depleted, it will take 10 minutes to fully recharge before you can use it again.
Additionally, you can also fuse any material to the Master Sword, giving it extra damage and bonus effects!

Tip for fighting gloom hands: if you get a bow that shoots 3 arrows fusing a ruby and shooting in the middle is a guarantee kill for all 5 hands

Anyone else notice how the Light Dragon's since of self actually return a little bit after Link finished the stamina check? Thus why Link receives the vision/memory 18.

Yep.
I got the sword out of the order (quests that need to be done). I discovered that you need to do the quest with the Dekutree. If not the master sword does not recharge it self. I had got it from Light dragon and used it until it had "broke". Played a lot afterward but it did not recharge, Once i had defeted the gloom hands and talked with the dekutree. It was recharged and now worked after it get "broke" and recharge again

Go to the top of zonite forge island and wait till Noon. Then glide over to the dragon. Using a Zonai Device should make this an easy trip. Stamina potions also help if you’re gliding your way there. Make sure to have two rings of Stamina.

Hey I can't thank you enough. I got it using option #2. I only had to wait 25 minutes from Nachoya shrine. I just used a wing with 3 fans. Sent it out and then recalled it for a good launch and then I had Tulin to boost me over. Thanks again. You're awesome!

What i did to get Master.
1. Get through Great Sky Island.
2. Get to Lookout Landing and activate the Sky tower.
3. Get a second sprint circle (20 more shrines.) (So people who are wondering 'why not get the master sword later' get master sword in the beginning of the game because you can sometimes one shot enemies and you can get hearts later on in the game.) 4. Get by the final shrine in Great Sky Island and acend on top of the map. 5. Wait for Light Dragon and use the paraglider to get to her.
You should have enough stamina to get there and then wait for your stamina to fill all the way up then pull out master.

3:00 I'm confused. I stopped playing for a couple months, then I heard about this technique. I had already gotten all of the glyphs but I never saw any dragon. Now that I'm playing again I'm searching everywhere, even following the dragons path in reverse, and not finding it.
I got so excited when i saw it and landed on it first try after watching all the fail videos on here, only to realize it was the ice dragon.
I can’t wait to get the master sword . That’s going to be the highlight of my life . I’m literally throwing away almost all my other weapons when I get it . Except for the katanas I love those .
Being able to fuse things to the MS in this game is awesome too!
I keept going back to that point you said on sky island for around 20m he showed up on the right side i just drifted on glider took it right out easy!!!! Ty and then swapped some stamina back for harts at statue because i only had ❤❤❤❤ 😅

So, do you have to complete the Dragon Tears quest and defeat Phantom Ganon in order to make the dragon fly at a lower altitude or just complete either quest for the dragon's path to be much lower?
What happens if you drop a rocket shield and an enemy pick it up? Will they fly upwards when using it against you?
Great vid I think I’m going for the glide and then also try to have a air bike for backup but I have to finish shrines I think I have 15 left would like to get it done tomorrow but doubt I’d have the time to lol
Creating a hoverbike would definitely make things much easier for you! It’s an awesome way to travel
I’m currently sitting and waiting for the dragon to show I was trying to chase the red dragon bits obviously that’s not him and he was going counter clockwise I do have a hover bike but my battery is 💩 and I need to optimize it a little better but it flies lol I hope this dragon hurries up lol
I’ve seen the ice, fire and lighting dragon but not the light one yet smh
Just got it thanks for the inspiration I had to use some charges so my hover bike wouldn’t fall out the sky lol I flew to him as he rounded the mountain decided to try full send instead of waiting lol

I killed phantom ganon, i spoke to the tree, it show me the movement of the dragon, but for some reason is not activated in my map. did i do something wrong or am missing one step? please help.

If it takes too long for you, you’re better off doing the quest that lets you track the Light Dragon!

Thank you! You’ll still be able to do the quest and purify the forest. But instead of tracking down the dragon, the quest will auto-complete once you’ve obtained the master sword!

Trying option 2, been waiting 3 hours in real time with no luck. Gone through two blood moons standing on the pillar. Starting to feel like it's glitched for me.

i was in the depth and saw that dragon flew by, i landed on its back and didn't know that this is the one who has the master sword, i just jumped off to go on my merry way, i think i was looking for a chest lol so dumb! lol

Nope! It just runs out of energy after using it for a while, then it takes 10 mins to recharge
Please help me! i have done 99% of the shrines... i do not have enough stamina to recover the heroes sword. yellow stamina does not work.

You can go to the Horned statue beneath Lookout Landing and swap your hearts for the remaining stamina that you need!
I have king master sword
i got a very weird problem because when i am under the light dragon i get no updraft so i have to go back to a previous save
You might not be close enough under the dragon. The updraft only happens if you’re within a certain range underneath!
do you know how long under? i have tried many times and failed miserably lol.
i am like uner the dragon but i a bit too long to the ground probably.
the problem could be that i am on lindors brow skyveiw tower.
You likely aren’t close enough to it. It may be best for you to make a hover bike (1 steer stick + 2 fans) to reach it, or complete the Korok forest quest to bring the Light dragon much closer to the ground!
When i try to hold the sword, the dragon stops me and makes me fly. Is this normal?
Make sure you have enough stamina!

Actually, you would need 24 shrines because the first four force you to get a heart.
U could probably sell the heart to the evil statue
Yes, that's why I didn't count the 4 mandatory shrines on the Great Sky Island, because they're already required to get to the surface of Hyrule. If you don't trade the 4th heart to the horned statue, you will need an additional 20 shrines to get a second wheel of stamina.

I got lucky and waited on the sky island for 30 seconds before the dragon appeared.
I think my game is completely broken. I got all the tears and watched the cutscene with the dragon however I missed the chance then to get the master sword so I’ve been getting to the highest places in the sky and even waited were you said near the shrine of awakening for almost 30 minutes real time and nothing, the dragon is nowhere to be seen! Someone help me plz 😭😭😭
Did you do the quest to purify the korok forest? Doing this option is probably your best bet because you’ll be able to track the dragon, and it’ll be much easier to reach

So let me get this straight: Just like in BOTW, the Master Sword ISN'T NATURALLY UNBREAKABLE DESPITE THE EFFORT IT TAKES TO GET IT? What, is Nintendo gonna make PAID DLC to "fix" that problem, too?
The recharge time isn’t too bad, but they could potentially make it shorter in future DLC (similar to how we had the Master Sword trials in BOTW to make it more powerful)

Someone spoiled something with regards to the dragon ( those who have played will know what I mean) im very early in the game. I feel so sad knowing this, are there still significant points in the game to shock/surprise/wow me or have I literally just had the whole game spoiled for me?😢
Sorry to hear! The dragon plot-line is a major part of the story, but there are definitely still other wow-factors for sure. There's lots to enjoy with this game!
