After you did the Hiker factory tour, I expected this day to come. You seemed so excited about the Hiker products. Way to go! I’m still with our family popup trailer, but in my mind I’m tour North America with my Hiker trailer and my cat.
Welcome to the Hiker Family, you have a very nice set-up! I can attest that the Highway can go off road a bit. I've had mine since 2020, been to 28 states and logged over 10k miles. Tow with a Kia Sportage which is one reason why I went with the tiny trailer and have an RTT for the kiddo. But, its seen more dirt roads and forest service roads than 99% of the Jeeps on the road today have. Enjoy your HIKER!!
I love this comment, that's exactly of what I was thinking of when I was choosing models. There's gonna be a lot of EORs that never leave the pavement, and some guy has his highway deluxe on a logging road in Maine right now... lol for some situations, the trailers wait is a lot more important than the suspension and clearance. Highway deluxe with soft tires might actually be the most off-road cable. Thanks for turning in, more to come!

Congratulations. Great looking trailer. I'm looking forward to your in depth reviews. It's virtually identical to my dream builds on the the Hiker site.
I did about 6 months of research on 15 different trailers. Makes me feel good that you went with Hiker. I originally wanted what you have, but Hiker is so good they had me really look at weight. If you are a Hiker expert, you will notice my Hiker model sticker on the back is fo the other model. A company that actually recommends the cheaper next model down, that's unheard of. Since we are pulling with a 2024 Subaru Outback Wilderness, we went with a 10 ft midrange. I did have them engineer out a non standard Hiker. No fridge box, just a utility box and front tire mount. Battery and truma are in the back. Since I got the bigger C44, they had to raise the shelf and couldn't give me a passthrough door. ITs a bummer but safer that the propex heater is undermounted. This means I can't drive through a creek, I could, but I shouldn't.
Been watching your videos since I bought my hiker 2 1/2 years ago. I get a lot of ideas from the Bushwacker community and your videos, lol (number one best mod has to be the aluminum c channel for the refrigerator slide I have in the galley)
What a difference, they are really nice. I made a lid over my fan on the BW with a solar panel, I can use it in the rain but the quality of the max air is huge. Solid airflow with low noise or vibration.
Congrats Brian...welcome to the Hiker family. I highly recommend to add a PWM dimmer to the Maxfan halo light and dimmer(s) to the side lights, when they are on Hiker looks like a UFO that just landed on the campsite blinding people.

I was expecting something bigger, but very surprised y'all didn't get an air conditioner. I have a ROG Encore that's very similar to this setup. Looking forward to the future vids
We just did not get the giant rooftop air conditioner, we have two battery powered air conditioners we've shown on the channel, when it gets hot this summer, I'll make some videos on off grid AC. I definitely need AC to sleep sometimes when we're traveling, it seldom gets that hot close to home, problem with plug-in AC is that we almost never have power... stay tuned for the battery powered videos

@@DIYOutdoorLife I wish I was in a position to do it now because I'm pretty sure this is the one. I'm going to have to live in it full time. I'm pretty close to knowing what I'll need for it. That actually was a good suggestion, I believe about holding back on buying the larger cargo box for the front if I don't have to have it right away. Please do more videos. I subscribed yesterday.

Nice! Love the fridge in the front, that has been working for us for some time. If we weren't planning on converting a 20' cargo trailer this would be on my radar. If you ever get down this way we have plenty of room for you to set up, just don't come in the summer!
@@DIYOutdoorLife would love to, but we have other commitments. Currently remodeling our bathroom, lots to do. Thankfully it's not our only one. We also have a boat now, so we want to spend some time on the water. To many things to do, not enough days to do them all! Life is good!
Congrats on your new Hiker and welcome to the family. Are you going to the HTC in September? Watch when you install your license plate, the screws are a tad long and cause the holder push out from the door and it can get water behind it.
Congratulations on the new trailer Brian, what a beauty! Looks like even though your batteries are up front, the disconnect is in the galley. A video on that setup would be helpful ( wire sizing etc.). I need to look into it more but I’m not exactly sure if I want to keep my battery ( or batteries down the road) in the galley. TU.
I'm really excited to get some videos out on the power set up. Ours is both complicated, yet easy to do. That switch in the galley allows you to either run off the front battery or the Goal zero. There's also a switch that diverts the solar from the battery to charging the power station. it gives a lot of options and should lead to some great Boondock and capability. Lots of videos to come… Thanks for watching!
Congratulations and many Blessings! I'm very excited for you. I know how impressed you were with the Hikers. What is the Dry weight and GVRW for your trailer? I know you are a very big AC guy. No AC? Looking forward to seeing and hearing more!
Oh, there's AC options… You'll see ... lol I have not taken it through the scales yet, but I'm estimating 1800 pounds. We'll see what the actual number is. 3500 pound. Axle Thank you for tuning in!
I was just out in Washington, I was actually thinking of you guys. Problem is, I flew, no trailer! We're gonna have to meet up in the middle sometime, there sure is a lot of miles between the left and right coasts...
Excellent video, one of the better ones I’ve seen. Two questions, how much for your model with the upgrades and would I be able to strap a 12’9” Hobie kayak on that roof rack with the max air fan for my trips to the gulf? Thanks.
Yes you can strap a kayak up top. I want a little ham with the extras, some of which I didn’t show in the review. It’s easy to get in the high 20s when you deck out an MRXL with tons of add ons.
Great video. You strike a really good balance between giving too much and too little information. Many channels struggle with that. Question: I am planning to purchase a Hiker Trailer Mid Range XL now that Aero has filed for bankruptcy and our planned Burnside purchase cannot happen. What is the height of your trailer from ground to top of load bar? We intend to install our GFC rooftop tent (6" tall) on our trailer and fitting in our 82" tall garage is a priority. Thanks!
You're going to be very happy with the mid range XL, hearing what happened to aero is a bummer though! Unfortunately, I am on a road trip with my teardrop and won't be home to see the Hiker for a bit . I know it's very close to 75 inches. Give Hiker a call, they'll answer on the phone right away with the exact number.
@@michaellaserre1624 I actually got both, the plain metal table and the one with the sink. I can attach them to each other lengthwise, but I think you would have to modify the bracket to attach it as an L-shaped, very possible!
Great video getting started so got a few questions: this is really close to how I would rig something out so can you tell me what it cost? Also, what about a/c? Is that an option? Last, you said the Goal Zero would run the trailer - what your experience been? What can you run and for how long?
They offer a rooftop AC option, it’s very nice. I opted out of it because I have to run mostly off grid. I did go with the rooftop AC, so it can be added in the future. Currently, I use an off grid air conditioner that runs off DC. There will be more videos on that in the spring. Once you start stacking on the accessories, you’re gonna be in the high 20s on a trailer like this . if you don’t need some of the most expensive options like the fridge, fridge box and slider- or some of the elaborate electrical options, you can get a very similar trailer around 15. I love the goal zero option. With the 1500x and the huge onboard battery, I can run unlimited.
Hi, I recently just got my first Hiker, a Mid Range 5x10. It came with a 23 zero awning on one side and I would like to add a ROAM awning that I already had to the other side but I'm having a hard time finding the hardware needed to mount it to the square inch crossbars that come on the Hiker. Hiker and ROAM both say that don't sell the hardware needed. Any ideas on how to find what I need? Thanks
Could the ROAM mount like your 23 zero or does it have to mount to the crossbars? Your 23 zero probably has heavy duty 90° brackets like mine does. If that will work, I would get the brackets from 23 zero.
I’m glad you got a Hiker . I ordered my Hiker after watching your videos last year. We have about 12 trips with ours in the 10 months we’ve owned it and the new hasn’t worn off . Pulling with our Jeep makes it even more fun. We can camp off grid for a few days with a simple AGM battery (Group 31 from a school bus lol ) I like the door combo and the 10’ trailer . We have the 9’ one and have to really watch our weight pulling with a Jeep. Your tongue weight is over 250 lbs with that fridge box . Im curious how well your Toyota pulls your trailer and I think I’ve heard you mention you have a Jeep . How well do they pull your trailer? Ours loaded is around 2200 lbs (guessing) but we have to carry a lot of gear for three of us . Hopefully good content for a video : Go to the scales and weigh it , no one that I know of has that in a video . In this video the ceiling looks white. Did the change that or is it the lighting ? I can see subtle changes from the 23 year model to the 24 like the rear logo and the carbon monoxide detector. Really cool that you got you one , I think y’all will really enjoy it. Hope to see you on the road sometime.
I will definitely have to get to the scales and experiment with the TW, I think that would make good content as well. The Toyota pulls it like an absolute dream, the tongue weight, and overall weight are a complete non-factor. The jeep pulls it well also, I think that the manual transmission helps a little bit, but I do notice a little more SAG than I'm used to with my other trailer. I have some more experimenting to do, but I think both vehicles can safely to the Hiker, the jeep is only for local trips anyway. Ceiling is birch, the lighting made it come out white . Thank you so much for watching the video, it's really exciting to hear that you got a Hiker after watching our series. Thank you for continuing to tune in!
@@DIYOutdoorLife I’m curious about the Toyota because I am interested in getting one for a longer trip vehicle. My Jeep is a CJ so it’s towing capacity is lower than a modern Jeep. I didn’t weigh my trailer as a whole but I did weigh at the tongue jack and got 255 lbs and the CJ is rated for 350 . I have trailer brakes and a controller on the CJ , it’s a must . How I load my trailer is very important, like your trailer I’ve got both awnings and tent rooms for both . To play with loading it different ways with it on the scales would be a must watch video. It makes a huge difference in the way the CJ handles. My other tow vehicle is a one ton Cummins diesel powered ram . Hiker laughed at me when I picked up my trailer with the 22ft long truck . We joked about if it could tow it . Of course I load everything including the kitchen sink when I tow the hiker with the Ram and don’t worry about how I pack , I forget that it’s back there . In fact the fuel mileage doesn’t change.
@@kennethboatner8611 the Tacoma has about twice the capacity of my JKU. Here is the video I did with my other trailer How to Measure Tongue Weight | Weigh & Adjust ua-cam.com/video/LXf2EPcgcpc/v-deo.html
Great video. I'm been planning my own in garage custom build for 6 months. But Hiker is really suckering me to spend more but get exactly what I want. I'm gonna need to work remotely. Anyway to get a fold out futon style sleep scenario, and during the day have a removable table i can work on and eat while watching a movie? I'm totally gonna have Starlink internet and a drop down TV from the ceiling. I want a domeric toilet in there at the foot of the bed in a hidden box I can build with some shelving. I's that possible with a 5x10 trailer or would I need a 6x12? I'm 6 feet tall so I need a queen. Suggestions?
I think a 5 x 10 with the 18 inch galley will give you a ton of cabin room. it's tough to know your exact needs, but you would be able to fit a queen size bed and have additional room at your feet/head. Let me know how you make out, good luck with the project!
I’ve already ripped everything out and rebuilt it several times… lol. I definitely have a lot going on with power sources.. I think you might be looking at my Victron AC charger
@@DIYOutdoorLife I see that now. As I’m looking closely at a hiker..I see the almost unanimous affection its owners have for them …. I’ve only come across one critical review..A fellow shows some rust forming on exterior screws and parts of the rack system on a new unit. How have you found the overall quality/fit and finish of your and other’s hiker trailers? Also, would I be ok just sticking with the basic electrical system that comes with the hiker? I plan to rely on a Bluetti AC 180 and a Jackery 1000 in rotation plugged in to the stock electric system.
@@docsoulman9352 I love my Hiker, no complaints. It’s a low-cost trailer, that’s what blows me away. You can buy $100,000 travel trailer, you’re going to be able to find things that go wrong, very impressed with Hiker
Curious how hot the fridge box gets in summer particularly on really hot days when it's baking in the sun? Does the fridge box heat up a lot? How does that affect the fridge and power demands? I left my bougeRV and 640wh power station in my car in the sun once and it couldn't keep up. Really curious to find out how it works for you. Love the channel!
You have good timing, I've already filmed a video all about that. I don't know when we will release, it's a really important topic. The box does heat up, it does affect the refrigerator . I put a simple reflective cover and it completely offset the issue. I'll also look into some venting. Overall, it has not been a major issue, but one worth addressing . Thanks for watching!
@@DIYOutdoorLife interesting I was thinking that coating the box in a light colored truck bed liner might be an option but your reflective cover is a smart idea as well. Llook forward to the video!
Although there's a lot of overlap, the two different campers are still quite different. I'll have to see how things work out after I do some mods but for now I'll probably just take them out 50-50 because I love them both!
Thank you, we're really excited. Hiker pricing is really good, but obviously it can add up in a real hurry with some of these features. A stock highway deluxe is 6K, one of the best prices, if not the best in the industry. A 5x10 mid range XL with all of these features will land in the upper 20's.... we basically checked every box during the build.. lol
I am going to try to dial in a really handy mobile set up. My preference has been to set up my kitchen outside the galley, little easier clean up. Well see how it goes. Thanks for tuning in!
Mine is decked out soup to nuts, I ended up in the mid to high 20s. it's not hard to double your base price build when you start adding all the awnings refrigerators and power
@@DIYOutdoorLife that's still an amazing price, especially when compared to most other manufacturers who start their base models at $24,000. I've been researching and i don't believe anyone can beat the price of a Hiker, nor can they beat the quality.
I have a SUV that can only tow 3500lbs, would the Hiker XL be too heavy? I am not going to do any off-roading, my suv is more of a street SUV. Is this trailer around $40k?
Your SUV would tow it no problem. I recommend electric brakes to help you if you’re traveling in the mountains, they are as option on this trailer. No, this trailer is not 40 K , much cheaper
What is your opinion on build quality. I currently have a NuCamp Tag XL, but have not been entirely impressed with the build quality. I’ve been looking to make a change to accommodate more features I want in a trailer and the Hiker brand offers a lot.
I've had the opportunity to look at a lot of trailers and I believe Hiker is top-notch. They sell at an extremely affordable price, so I expected to see more production level items and that's not the case. Everything seems like a very high-quality home build., even better. We will always find little things that bug us, and I kind of think it's fun to keep tinkering and fixing things, but I think that Hiker is the best you can get without doubling the money.
Brian, you are such the visionary stylist and designer. I am going to make a belly button hole in all my shirts this season . We can be twins at the boil. Was thinking about using a rusty nail to create them, do you think that will work or will the rust discolor the shirt. Looking forward to your mastery. See you soon. ❤❤
I went with the AC prep, which I highly recommend. This gives me the option to add the rooftop AC in the future if I want it. Since I almost never have shore power, I emphasized an offgrade AC . I'm using the EcoFlow wave 2.... more videos to come
Midrange xl starts at $9,700. Accessory and option prices at www.hikertrailers.com With awnings, fridge box/truma fridge, furnace, and lithium batteries/power station, its pretty easy to double the stock price tag
In my opinion, it's the best bang for the buck in the industry. You can get a really solid trailer for under 10 grand, or you can deck one out and spend twice that amount. Apples to apples, I think you get more with Hiker.

Nice! Love the fridge in the front, that has been working for us for some time. If we weren't planning on converting a 20' cargo trailer this would be on my radar. If you ever get down this way we have plenty of room for you to set up, just don't come in the summer!
I can't wait to see your cargo trailer, make sure to send me pics! I miss you guys, are you gonna make it to the rally or what?
@@DIYOutdoorLife would love to, but we have other commitments. Currently remodeling our bathroom, lots to do. Thankfully it's not our only one. We also have a boat now, so we want to spend some time on the water. To many things to do, not enough days to do them all! Life is good!
I understand that all too well! Maybe we'll see you next time we're at a different gathering.
A boat !?!? You are a glutton for punishment... lol
I was hoping it'd be a Hiker Trailer! Looking forward to your mods!
Cant wait to start tinkering!
Never heard of the Hiker. Looks awesome! Congrats!
Thanks for tuning in, great company!
Congrats on your new Hiker and welcome to the family. Are you going to the HTC in September? Watch when you install your license plate, the screws are a tad long and cause the holder push out from the door and it can get water behind it.
Im going to try to, sounds fun!
Thank you for the license plate tip, I will keep an eye on that.
Beautiful camper!
Thank you, very excited!
Awesome choice!!!
Thank you!
Congratulations and many Blessings! I'm very excited for you. I know how impressed you were with the Hikers. What is the Dry weight and GVRW for your trailer? I know you are a very big AC guy. No AC? Looking forward to seeing and hearing more!
Oh, there's AC options… You'll see ... lol
I have not taken it through the scales yet, but I'm estimating 1800 pounds. We'll see what the actual number is. 3500 pound. Axle
Thank you for tuning in!
We dig the new trailer! Congrats 🎉🎉 When are you making it out west!??
Well done video I would have liked to seen the driver's side 230 opened up and see what it looks like on the driver's side cheers! 😎🐢🌽🌲🇺🇸🌎
Thank you for watching, stay tuned to the channel, we have shown the 270 out in several videos. Sorry I missed out in doing it in this video.
Congratulations on the new trailer! What does Ripley think of it? More room for her?
She loves it! She starts wagging every time she sees it!!!
Did you get the new style side table? I'm trying to find out if you can put two of them together to create an L-shaped cooking area.
@@michaellaserre1624 I actually got both, the plain metal table and the one with the sink. I can attach them to each other lengthwise, but I think you would have to modify the bracket to attach it as an L-shaped, very possible!
Any episodes on how you kitchen camp with the hiker?
Coming soon, still doing lots of camping and gaining experience
Nice
So far, so good, thank you!
Here is the video I did with my other trailer

Cool👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you !
Instead of drawers, I thought of adding in that space this from Amazon…it has stove and sink in a clasping kitchen.
Not a bad idea at all!
I see you replaced the wiring junction with a power conditioner? Guessing that’s a good idea when I get my hiker
I'm really considering this maker but I need and AC/Heater unit on the top. Dometic makes one and I'll be asking Hiker Trailer if it's a possibility.
Hiker offers a really nice houghton rooftop AC, people love it. Use DIY250 code and save some $$$
Curious how hot the fridge box gets in summer particularly on really hot days when it's baking in the sun?
Llook forward to the video!
what width bushman did you get?
2500mm 8.2’
How do you decide which camper to take?
Although there's a lot of overlap, the two different campers are still quite different. I'll have to see how things work out after I do some mods but for now I'll probably just take them out 50-50 because I love them both!
Beautiful build, Brian. I'm curious what the list price is for the model that you got with all of the features.
Thank you, we're really excited.
Hiker pricing is really good, but obviously it can add up in a real hurry with some of these features. A stock highway deluxe is 6K, one of the best prices, if not the best in the industry. A 5x10 mid range XL with all of these features will land in the upper 20's.... we basically checked every box during the build.. lol
@@DIYOutdoorLife Thanks, Brian. Appreciate the info.
Do you have plans to add a stove?
I am going to try to dial in a really handy mobile set up. My preference has been to set up my kitchen outside the galley, little easier clean up. Well see how it goes. Thanks for tuning in!
What did your build cost you out the door? I'm going to check the web site, but it would be nice to know what your setup costs.
@@gomcsei agree 100%. Its the best price for what you get in the industry.
Really nice trailer. Hiker's are a good brand as that's what the reviewers say about them. Enjoy it, and I know you will. Take care
It's a real solid build and everything is well thought out. I hope it works out for a long time to come.
Thanks for watching!
We will always find little things that bug us, and I kind of think it's fun to keep tinkering and fixing things, but I think that Hiker is the best you can get without doubling the money.
did they give you the trailer?
Maybe next time... lol I'm not that famous 😆
Hahaha... I knew someone was gonna mention it! Listen, it's true camping authenticity 😆
No air conditioning?
I went with the AC prep, which I highly recommend. This gives me the option to add the rooftop AC in the future if I want it.
Since I almost never have shore power, I emphasized an offgrade AC . I'm using the EcoFlow wave 2.... more videos to come
How are these campers doing for leaking? A leaky camper is my biggest pet peeve
Zero issues, I actually like the galley door set up a lot more… no water gets in while I use it during the rain or dewy morning
How much does this build cost?
Midrange xl starts at $9,700. Accessory and option prices at www.hikertrailers.com
With awnings, fridge box/truma fridge, furnace, and lithium batteries/power station, its pretty easy to double the stock price tag

How so?
Affordability?
In my opinion, it's the best bang for the buck in the industry. You can get a really solid trailer for under 10 grand, or you can deck one out and spend twice that amount. Apples to apples, I think you get more with Hiker.
