Can we get an updated video on keeping discus fry from dying using potassium permanganate please. You should drop more frequently, you're full of knowledge
Gabe, just an fyi that might be worth mentioning... If one has land plants like for example Pothos with their roots kept in the aquarium water, they would absorb the epsom salt as i had found out that it triggers more/faster root growth and i have personally noticed that happening in my aquarium whenever i use it
as long as you do not exaggerate with dosage or frequency of use it is safe to put in directly into the aquarium without removing anything. i am sure that if Gabe had advised a strong dosage he would have also advised to make it a temporary/separate thing just to bath the impacted fish say for example for 15minutes.
Thank you Gabe ! Is it the truth that Capillaria are very common in wild caught discus ? How would you treat them ? What is the correct dosage of Präziquantel if you use it ? Thanks
Hi mr Gabe, how are you? So sorry to disturb you, i am new to discus, not even 2 years keeping them, i am a hobbyist, love discus very much, i am now repairing everything that needs to be fix, i already lost half of them in this past year, dunno what’s wrong. i am watching your youtube channel non stop. 1 quick question cause i can’t find it in your videos, do i need UV lamps inside the sump filter? Cause i noticed after water change add bacteria starter, uv lights off, my discus appetite is very good, they eat a lot and fast, but I turned uv lights on, their appetite decreased a lot. Eat very little and very slow, quite the opposite. Some say i have to use uv light to kill the parasites and bacteria, some say not to. Which one is correct? I am confused. Thanks mr Gabe for your time.
UV light will wipe out all the harmful bacteria and at the same time it will wipe out all the beneficial bacteria also. No beneficial bacteria means no nitrogen cycle..no oxidation of Ammonia to nitrites to nitrates. Run your UV lamp a maximum of two hours in a timer everyday...not more than that.
What do you use for deworming ? How would you treat with Präziquantel ? Is there the possibility to treat them at the same time with Metro + Präzi for 10 days ? Thanks

So do you add the Epsom Salt directly into you're aquarium or do you recommend taking that fish out into a separate tank? Thanks

Do we have to de worm them even if I’m not feeding them heart mix? If so how often? I only feed them pellets grindal worms and Australian black worms
Every 3 months as a preventative

Fortunately I was able to cure one of my big discus having swim bladder issue and its head was down with epsom salt treatment
Then it wasn't swim bladder. It was most likely bloat.
@@JackWattleyDiscus oh ok thank you for the reply..
@@JackWattleyDiscusMay i know how to treat bloat? Mine also will swim head down and will lay on the bottom of the tank, thanks
Ratio of Epson Salts per US gal please.
1 tablespoon per 40 gallons
@JackWattleyDiscus thankyou, much appreciated. Keep up the quality info.
@@JackWattleyDiscuswhat if we accidentally overdose espom salt, any effects?
