The ampitheatre looks amazing. It's crazy to think how something this grand could just disappear, until it is rediscovered. It also puts time into perspective, at least for me, and how short life is, and how we must make the most of it. It's so cool seeing you both travel the world. Wishing I could do the same. It is so much fun to dive into the history of wherever we land. Even our advancements today could turn to dust and disappear in a few thousand years. Great view of the town I grew up in, you brought up so many memories with your video, of course, it was very different back in the time and I did perform in the amphitheatre (breathtaking experience).
The city was named after Philip of Macedonia after he captured it. He was Alexander the Great father. Hisar is also another small town with even more ruins than Plovdiv.
The name "Plovdiv" first appeared around that time and is derived from the city's Thracian name Pulpudeva (assumed to be a translation of Philippopolis, from Pulpu = Philippou and deva = city), which was rendered by the Slavs first as Pəldin (Пълдин) or Pləvdin.
Nice video overall. I enjoy my sunset here sometimes. But now prices are up Plus we can not dine out every day here. This price of your dinner is just for one person now. So now is doubled. I dont think you tryed the right beer, since we have a lot. Tourist usually like them.
Wonderful video, guys! I just love the natural flow of your narratives, feels like I have just lived through this experience with the two of you. Whoever does the editing, great job! Hoping to learn to be half as good as you with it one day. I didn't quite get the impression that you loved the local cuisine. What DID you like the most, if anything?
Thank you so much! We liked all of the food except the soup. The wine was absolutely amazing. I think at this point in our travels we had tried a lot of eastern European food and nothing blew us away or was unique compared to what we had been eating the past few months. All of that will change as we leave Europe and start heading east! Thank you for watching!

Many people don't realize the significance why being a city on 7 hills is advertised. It's because Rome is know as the city of 7 hills too. It's the connection with Rome, not just a random fact.
After all of our travels in Europe and beyond, we have learned there are numerous cities that claim to be built on 7 hills. Since some of those cities are older than Rome, I wonder if those stories came later or was Rome not the original?
I would say tripe soup everywhere would have different flavors depending on the region with tripe being the common ingredient. Tripe in Madeira was a lot different than tripe in Bulgaria.
I want to come to Bulgaria in purpose of study. How is the job opportunity for students in Bulgaria. If i get the job then, it possible to afford the monthly expenses by working?
you're supposed to put a lot of garlic and chilly flakes in the tripe soup. the server should have brought you those 2 things with it. edit: maybe i should've kept watching 😂😂
You did not compliment the salad. Usually tourist discribe how tasty is all at least for 3 to 5 minutes in appreciating and loving it. You could add oil and vineger to the salad as a dressing. Did you put garlic and a little vinegar to the soup? Its not that taisty with that.. You did not say how is taiste Bulgarian version of Musaka? Greek is with egg plants. You just mentioned two versions exist.
What time of the year was this video taken? By the greenery and the t-shirts I assume is either spring or summer. During the warm half of the year white wine is drunk and in the winter is red. By the way musaka is not Greek, it's Arabic dish. Only because you were told it was Greek doesn't make it Greek.
Quick Tip : Don't go to Alex Foods. The place where they had the chicken. It's awful ! :D There is a kebab shop next to it(don't remember the name). It's much better and their beef is good.
The amphitheater is still working. He is not a ruin. No need of advertisement. You are in the oldest city in Europe, remember?! I'm kidding.
