    With 8,000 years of history, Plovdiv is the oldest city in all of Europe. Remnants of past civilizations intertwine and can be seen in layers throughout the city. From the top of its 7, well...6, hills to the bustling streets below, there is a lot to see in Plovdiv.

    The city was named after Philip of Macedonia after he captured it. He was Alexander the Great father. Hisar is also another small town with even more ruins than Plovdiv.

      The name "Plovdiv" first appeared around that time and is derived from the city's Thracian name Pulpudeva (assumed to be a translation of Philippopolis, from Pulpu = Philippou and deva = city), which was rendered by the Slavs first as Pəldin (Пълдин) or Pləvdin.

    The ampitheatre looks amazing. It's crazy to think how something this grand could just disappear, until it is rediscovered. It also puts time into perspective, at least for me, and how short life is, and how we must make the most of it. It's so cool seeing you both travel the world. Wishing I could do the same. Where to next?

      It is so much fun to dive into the history of wherever we land. Even our advancements today could turn to dust and disappear in a few thousand years. We feel it is a must to go out and see everything we can. It might not be there one day. Thank you for watching. Maybe one day we can take some of our subscribers along with us 👀. Many people don't realize the significance why being a city on 7 hills is advertised. It's because Rome is know as the city of 7 hills too. It's the connection with Rome, not just a random fact.

    • @SOSASATSUNRISE
      @SOSASATSUNRISE  Рік тому +1

      After all of our travels in Europe and beyond, we have learned there are numerous cities that claim to be built on 7 hills. Since some of those cities are older than Rome, I wonder if those stories came later or was Rome not the original?

      Yes, you're right, I think you need a visa to enter Syria. But you can both receive a tourist visa for Lebanon at the airport in Beirut. You can certainly pay with USD almost everywhere, but it's good to have Lebanese Lira with you; the "market" rate fluctuates daily, so ask more than one currency exchange office. Good luck with your travels 🙋

    I watch plenty of those "Foreigners in Plovdiv" as a local resident out of curious for this place from outsider`s set of eyes... However they are so alike... the clips since like ~5-6 years ago... That I don`t find it in me to comment. They are all "The City Center", The Theater, The Food and possibly "Room Check". Not that it`s bad and it`s different people, alone or couples, every time so it`s interesting every time... But deviations are rear... When someone climbs one of the hills... or go to the Rolling Channel... those are nice. Recently I watched a very good old solitary guy`s clip of around. However... Of all the places "Youth Hill" is the rarest... Is why I decided to write you... I am gonna write you something Dirty, it`s also sort of exposing and embarrassing for myself, but oh well... it`s life.
    The very entry point you walked into trough the hill is former Hooker "w8ting plot". Before the area of the other side of the street weren`t as "civilized". Now the dormitory of the dental medicine university, or at least a wing of it, is build there and there are 24 shop and at the day cafe shop for the students. Also the entire cobbled stone street leading deeper into the park is Lit by lamps (it used to not be)... Now there also are municipal security cars having a shift there at night time. However, before on that very corner, next to the trash bin you walked to on the sidewalk, there used to be a ~girl or two w8ting (sometimes bearable visually)... If you pick em by car, you drive deeper into the park, get the car off and do your business inside, but if you go without a car, they drag you literally exactly where google maps lead you trough (slightly above the sidewalk in those bushes) and you do em there the way you paid for to do em... and you throw the condom on the ground and the tissue they gave you to wipe with right there. It`s a little bit horrible, but that place there is/used to be something like open air public paid sex toilet... and haven`t been properly cleaned since it would seem. There were a few "corners" in that area... from mentioned corner, through the back street of the one next to the Dental Medicine University, right to the Central Railway station that used to offer 3~5 different girls per small hours of the night on good days... However now the area got a lot more ~civilized and both the girls (sometimes they were not actually female admittedly) and their clients are way more ashamed. At least I am.
    Also now with this being wrote... You should have gone to the top... Why didn`t you just go to the top... come on...

      @@kensei232 I think it`s an important part of the history of the town. I mean... for me at least. Without those... IDK... I have never had >the s*x< that I exactly wanted... a.k.a. with both willing and desired by me girl on a safe comfortable location, full nudity and no time limitation. Intimacy (of the adult type and all other types) galore. Few times I have been close in variations. I mean the s*x itself occurred, but there have always been downsides. Either super awkward situation and fairly drunk, or willing girl with no time restraints that had the best feature of exactly those... and in a car (- comfort for a guy my size) or a situation so awkward I am not describing how awkward it was... those are in fact all my 3 free times in my entire life... The next best (actually it`s mixed in the rankings) was in whore house in our dear Capitol. At least was in a room, with a decent girl... but condom and time restrain... she still put the effort on and offed me the per the hour ~twice acceptable.
      Now my life is still mediocre with the tendency to definitely get worse over time (it`s the only thing realistically happens to a human being while aging, no joking about it) but the point is if not the way I wanted at least I can have the memory of numerical count and ~"diversity"... in fact might have gotten a bit... too diverse a few times... but oh well. Of course there are overall down sides... STDs for example. And it`s still illegal bad activity that comes from and stimulates other bad activities and situations. It`s a sad thing in a sad country.

    " Musaka " is a Greek but also have Bulgarian version lol Everything you know as Greek was taken from the Bulgarians. There are even people who think that yogurt comes from Greece. This is how they deceive westerners and the world to attract them as tourists. The name Greece appeared at the beginning of the 19th century on the world map, how did the country with "ancient Greeks" and "the most ancient history" in the world become!? There is no Greek who can read and translate the "ancient Greek" inscriptions meaningfully, but we Bulgarians can and for us what is written makes sense, for the greeks is a . . . mystery. The biggest lie "Ancient Greece" and "Latin culture" is disintegrating every second at the speed of light. You guys are really cool but when you travel eat, drink and enjoy life but at all costs avoid the history of the country you are in. This is dark territory for you, not to mention that Bulgarians are one of the oldest ethnicity on earth. Regarding the old clock tower, here we have some cookies called "squirrel" if you haven't, try them, but don't expect squirrels to start climbing out of the box when you open the box. Good luck and I hope you had fun here (* *,)
