Pintxos Crawl with Michelin Star Chefs: MUNCHIES Guide to the Basque Country (Episode 5)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 12 лют 2015
- MUNCHIES is back in San Sebastian for a Michelin-starred chef blowout in the final installment of our Guide to the Basque Country. We’ll get a look inside the kitchen of the legendary Martín Berasategui, godfather of Basque nouvelle cuisine and holder of seven Michelin stars total in restaurants across the world.
Finally, a trip to the Basque Country wouldn’t be complete without a night out getting pissed on Txakoli wine and stuffing your face with pintxos. And while she gets wasted, Irene is rolling deep with three more Michelin-starred chefs: Dani López, Gorka Txapartegi, and Joxe Mari Arbelaitz.

This is not who I thought would be my favourite host, but girl, you are fantastic!
***** Yes she is great, but she also gets very impacient and starts annoying the chefs at some times.
***** yes because they can't do anything more, I speak spanish so i can clearly see and understand that the chefs are getting somewhat uncomfortable.
I mean, not in the level of "Huh, what an annoying cunt" but in a way of "This aspect of her I don't like"
Agreed, she is a great host.
I would like to get wasted with her
HugsmadeDrugs Yeah I also speak spanish quite fluently and you are quite delusional. They actually feel very comfortable with her :)
She rocks!!
There's been nothing but haters on these videos so far, glad people seem to be less negative on this one, this girl is awesome.
She took a bit to get used to but damn she grew on me! The last three episodes I was eagerly awaiting.
For all we know, the haters may have been those obnoxious cat-callers from the car after she was at the steak restaurant! Or are cat-callers themselves.
seriously good save by that guy to catch the wine glass at the end
I know right! I was like ohhh shiiii- *NICE FUCKING SAVE MAN*
More Irene plz. I just about died at the scene in Berasategui's kitchen!
She's wonderful. The wife and I think she's adorable. Why have we not seen more of her? What a character

This 5-part documentary on the foods and cuisine in Basque country is a culinary marvel. One of the most detailed and complete food documentaries I have ever seen. It did not hurt, of course, that the show was blessed with a charming and very competent guide, Irene. Or that the Basque region has one of the greatest concentration of Michelin-star chefs in the world: the result of the Basque people's obsession with good food, both by preserving centuries-old traditions, and by experimenting outrageously with the biochemistry of the edible.
Actually San Sebastian is the City with highest density of Michelin stars per person, and I think the second one with the most, only behind tokyo
Like a teenager, I'm in love with everything Basque! I want to quit my job and move to the region to cook in any one of those restaurants. This one, by far, was my favorite series, yet. Keep this going, and don't change a thing. Keep the same crew, and send them all over Iberia.
The first genuine TV food show host I have seen since Keith Floyd, Rick Stein, and Anthony Bourdain. Give how many TV food show hosts there are, that is an amazing feat. Incredibly rare.
Great series. Sad it's over ... More Irene please!!
Seriously. Wasn't so sure at first but she has a knack for travelling and taking everything in stride as it comes. Awesome personality. I want to see more of her as well!
I FELL IN LOVE W/ THE BARTENDER AT LA CEPĀ OMFG
More Irene on Munchies!
At first, I wasn't so sure I liked her, but damn she grew on me. I was literally excited when I saw the last few of these. Irene needs to be on Munchies more often! And damn, this last episode made me crave going to Spain!
To everyone out there judging the host or the directness. Its very normal in Spain. So if you are not from Europe come for a visit. We don't like to talk around it.
I love the fact that renowned chefs look forward to go out eat and love others chefs food.
This has been the best Guide To mini-series Munchies have brought out - two thumbs up! Great host and genuinely interesting because she's able to connect with her subjects so well. Now I really want to go to Barcelona!
Agree. She nailed this mini series, I want to see her on Munchies more.
I like their other hosts also (always take it with a grain of salt hehe), but yeah she was a breath of fresh air.
Barcelona is not located in the Basque country.
Robert Borgman
he was referring to the fact tha she is from Barcelona
You guys have to bring this lady back. She's really entertaining!!
Irine is awesome! Really enjoyed this series, I'm sure I will visit Basque Country some day
I absolutely adore her!
Loved the series, loved the host! makes me wish there is more!
i want her to host often..
One of the best videos I have seen on this channel. Great work. This host needs to do more videos...
I loved all the vids shes great at showing the Basque Country!
Irene Peralta was a joy to watch and the series was really interesting. It's been 30 years since I traveled in Spain and this makes me want to go back tomorrow! I especially enjoyed her fighting with Martin for the plate he took away (glad she got to try it).
Really one of the most natural and funny scenes!
Mas Irene por favor! She's an awesome host. She's clever, funny, pretty in a girl next door kind of way, and has a bit of a mischievous streak.
Loving this Journalist, she actually seems interested and she's engaged, definitely need more like her unlike 75% of your roster
True.
Drops the wine glass and recovers it with the wine, classic Basque move.
That seven-star chef tho...you get why he has seven stars. He wants those who eat his food to only eat it at its very, very best...a really extreme standard of quality he has for his food!
best series so far on munchies. Loved it
Favorite "Guide To" so far. Irene is a nice change of pace.
One of the best food shows I've seen! just what I was looking for

Irene learns why the Tolosa bean is the subject of much obsession, then shops for mushrooms and pigeons at a local market.
Hope you folks hire her for other articles in the future, she is great! those little out-takes at the end were funny as well lol. That drunk on food look at 15:07 ,priceless.

i'm amazed he didn't know about the crystal scales. just a quick incursion into khmer and vietnamese cuisine, with the Mekong fish would make that obvious
Amazing series! In a few years I'll visit Basque Country. :)
Have you visited yet? If so, how was it? :)
I was there in 2012 I hope you got to visit :)

Bilbao is the best city ever
@@Mel-gv2hd sorry but it’s San Sebastián
Hi Guy's, Thanks for your video. Will check out some of the places featured. Which is the best area to stay in San Sebastion ?
Excellent episode. It is nice to see Spanish (Basque) guys getting a little bit drunk like Northern Europeans (it isn't often you see somebody from Spain drunk -
estaban borrachos, pero no eran borrachos.).
This video made me step into side of cook
So well made video, and this video made me have the best pleasent moment from the cooking documentary.

Great fucking job. One of the best documentaries.
getting huge creep vibes from those three chefs lmao
How so?
Nah they were just like "lol she is fucking drunk" but she did fine!
Keuekeu45 Absolutley. Notice the way they positioned themselves away from her at the bar. Fucking good job lads. Stay clear.
I've got such a crush on Irene. Come to London and I'll take you to some incredible tapas restaurants ☺️
"Restaurants"

14:41 Saved by Basque reflexes.
14:43 LOL
I love that ham! What are the best pintxos there?
Gotta go with baby octopus and chorizo - or anything with anchovies. Even the canned anchovies in the Basque region are killer.
James Fraley yes! Nothing beats octopus or anchovies for pintxos!
The amo Irene!
i've booked next year's holiday...hola Basque.
do more of the atlantic coast in spain, cantabria, asturias and galicia are all amazing places aswell!!!
Man is a fucking genius, I will actively seek this place out on my trip to europe.
She's totally Konata Izuma from Lucky Star. Great series and great host.
I really like this host, relaxed, easy going appreciative etc. But I wish they could have sent someone with a bit more culinary experience/passion for fine cuisine.
She likes to eat and drink, isn't that good enough? Most hosts know or want to know fuckall about food.
Whats the name of the first place they visited??
I like this chick! Great host!
You should go to catalonia next!
Catalunya*
And to Valencian Community :)
More Irene please.
5:00 Didn't realize the lead singer of Meshuggah was a Michelin-star chef.
She's funny and awesome.
