Have always loved Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam through all of his career....no matter what name he chose to have. His message is always very beautiful. Thanks for your reaction, Hap.... you filled my gloomy day with sunshine and hope, if only for a moment. Take care and be well. Peace.
Cat Stevens is one of my favourite artists - he's an amazing songwriter and so many of his songs have been covered by other artists. I had his Tea For The Tillerman album on vinyl and almost wore it away! Thanks for your reaction, Hap and thanks for the request, Sumer. 💛
Loved hearing this again. Great reaction, Hap. He had several hits in the seventies. Peace Train and Wild World were my favorites... or maybe Moonshadow? Just noticed Morning Has Broken was mentioned - another great one. He has a beautiful texture in his voice.
What a great choice Sumer! Very appropriate for where the world is right now. We need hope now, more than ever. ☮ Hap, your reaction, is once again informative and insightful. I never picked up on the locomotive beat before.. You always have a way of helping me listen to music with different ears,, these days.. Thanks for your perspective 🎶💕 I loved Cat Steven's back in the day. 🎶💕 He had so many wonderful songs, Father & Son, Moonshadow, Morning Has Broken. I was sad when he left his career in 1977 after converting to Islam, but glad he has resumed it in more recent years. Peace J ✌ ☮ 💕
In your own words: Let the Music do the Talking! Today, and, probably, repeatedly in the future, as in the past history of human kind, just one message - 🕊️✌️Because, unfortunately, we need to be reminded how that particular lesson we never learn.
If you know what a 45 is that is the first one I ever bought. I walked over a mile to the store, and bringing it home walking tripped and fell and broke it and walked all the way back to get another 45.
Interesting. It is first ever time listening to this song and watching the video for me too. Look how much the audiences engaging with his singing. He must had(have) been so popular to the crowds. Great reaction. Choo choo 🚂
Yes Hap, I dig it✌ I used to own several of his single releases, he was very famous at the time.."Morning Has Broken" was and always will be my favorite .---Great pick for this devastating day. ☮
I think the brush type "drum stick" is making a sound like steam coming from an old steam engine train..swish, swish swish. You planted the seed in my head (of a train) and you are right. I hear it now. As many times as I've heard this song I had not heard the sound of a train! That's why you make the big bucks 💲💲. Keep them coming and sharing your insite with us. Great choice, @sumertulak!! Cat has such a soothing voice. And, right @jillmcillwain, Moon Shadow and Morning Has Broken are great songs well deserving of a reaction.
Good catch on the locomotive rhythm of the song... most reactors don't get it. The song's from 1971. Cat (or Yusuf) has a bunch of great songs. Maybe try "Wild World", that's a good one.
Wow! I've heard this song many times, but never noticed how the music itself sounds a little like a train, including the way it builds. And that "OOH-WAH-EE-AH-OOH-WAH" sounds like a train whistle.
That was great! I agree with Sumer, after the event in the UKRAINE, and just the way things are around the world today in these times we definitely need to hop on that peace train together! and wake up!! FANTASTIC reaction HAP! 💜🎵💜🎵 ✌️ great choice, Sumer!!!
Wow. Blast from the past Sumer! What I know about Cat Stevens: Use to think he was hot :) He was a heavy IV drug user (among other things) He had some good songs (ex: Oh very young, Morning has broken, Father and Son) He got tuberculosis sometime in the late 60's? He was a very peace and love kinda guy He converted to Islam in the later 70's and changed his name to.....I don't remember? Then he left the music business. Think he made a short comeback? He's British
Love his music!!! He is all about peace! Here are some of songs if you want to dig deeper into his music Wild World Moonshadow Father and son Tea for the Tillerman Where do the children play
This is from his Majik Cat tour, the last tour, the last concert, and the last song he would ever sing in public. He unplugged his guitar and walked off the stage. He converted ro Islam, and remained in the private sector as Yusef Islam. His birth name is Steven Dimitri Georgiou, stage name Cat Stevens. He has returned in the last 10 years or so, after deciding that playing a guitar and singing wasn't against the teachings of Islam.
One if my all-time favorite songs....it's one you can listen to it over & over & over. What a positive message for the times we live in now...you hear that Putin
That was an amazing performance!! It really picked up at the end too. Great reaction to this classic HAP!!! Great song choice Sumer!!!! Perfect for today. 🌻🌻
Kat Stevens has always been one of my absolute favorite artist. His music pretty much all of it. Just kind of speaks to me and nothing speaks to me quite as loudly as peace train does. Because really, if we could just quit Hayden and join together, peace could be a reality and the place that places that that could take us. It's just Out of this world.
Oh what a beautiful and funny song this is. I haven't heard that for a long time and I personally had never thought of a train. But when I listen closer now, this beat is really catchy and sounds pretty obvious like a train is picking up speed🚂👍. And unfortunately this song is more relevant than ever when you look at what's going on in the world right now 😳. So let’s get all on this train👍🚂. Try these other Cat Stevens songs "Morning has broken" or "Moonshadow". Thanks for this beauty 🥰🙋🏻♀️.
A bit ironic to post this today. Yusuf Very famous. Folk Singer-songwriter. Great music. Quit when he converted to Islam. Everybody was very sad when that happened but he did finally break down and start composing and singing again. Father and Son is really good.
I think a song like peace train. Could stand any day because, as long as peace doesn't exist. It's the hope that someday people will finally realize that it must exist for them to reach their highest potension. And for that reason alone I believe this song will always be relevant..
Ooooh. This song was a HUGE hit... not my favorite music , nor voice either, , but it is a cool song & this kind of song was 'in' in those days. Ok, I'm still waiting for you to do a reaction to Queen + Paul RODGERS as I mentioned in my comment to your BAD COMPANY reaction. I sent you 4 concerts of theirs...PLEASE CONSIDER DOING REACTIONS to Q+ PR. Paul was great with them. If you can fit it in some day, Queen fans will love you for it. You'll understand also why ALambert doesn't work for many of us after hearing PR with them. For us Freddie lovers, it's a miracle we accepted ANYBODY which is why I so wish we could show our fave HAP how it all was so great ...& Freddie ADORED Paul's voice. If you're too bogged down, that's ok. We'll love you anyway 😘 .
Here Comes My Baby, The First Cut Is The Deepest, Wild World, Father & Son, Sad Lisa, Oh Very Young, The Wind, & Where Do The Children Play are all great Cat Stevens songs.
The 60s really were a time of optimism and hope figure that was the decade that civil rights came to be. There was a lot of tension during that time as well. But that tension brought about something good. Civil rights and like kissing and easy been taking it further, not just civil rights but human rights. We have the right to live in peace. We have the right. To love we have the right to not worry for everyday needs in our future. And it's just speak so much more than even the words say.
This song was written and released in 1971 during the Vietnam War. This war was VERY unpopular. I was young then and there were numerous riots to end the war. The song was very apropos for the time.
It was released in 1971. Recently, the artist Yusuf/ Cat Stevens posted it again, but adding commentary to answer the question "why can't we live in bliss," and explains the history of WWII victors taking over lands, etc. Cat Stevens now goes by Yusuf, and he's still around, still making music, and touring. Still anti-war and pro-peace. xoxo
"In this day and age your not gonna hear a song called Peace Train". I think what your telling us is that Vladimir Putin probably doesn't sing this in the shower. Good reaction, tho.
Please Send the Peace Train to the Ukraine!
We need it in the US too. I think I want to get off the "Crazy Train."
Send peace train to russia too! 💜💜💜💜
This was my generation. We hippies were all about peace. I am still all about peace and positivity.
Have always loved Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam through all of his career....no matter what name he chose to have. His message is always very beautiful. Thanks for your reaction, Hap.... you filled my gloomy day with sunshine and hope, if only for a moment. Take care and be well. Peace.
After last night's event with Ukraine. We most definitely need to get everyone together on the Peace Train 💕 Wonderful reaction HAP! 🔥❤️🥰
And get us off the damned crazy train.
I wish it was just last night. Hang on tight everyone.

One of the last great modern folk singers. A signature song.
A few great early albums..
What a great choice Sumer! Very appropriate for where the world is right now. We need hope now, more than ever. ☮ Hap, your reaction, is once again informative and insightful. Morning Has Broken is another favorite of mine too
Father and Son, incredible.

While Satan is in the world we will always be tricked into doing evil things. We do have hope, I believe it's coming soon.
If you know what a 45 is that is the first one I ever bought. I walked over a mile to the store, and bringing it home walking tripped and fell and broke it and walked all the way back to get another 45.
He was always on a spiritual journey.

I love how u really are soaking up the lyrics and music! This song truly resonates today’ Timeless classic! Keep up the great work 💙
Lots of good stuff out there from Cat Stevens. Morning has Broken, Father and Son, Where do the Children Play, Moonshadow, Wild World.
Wow! I've heard this song many times, but never noticed how the music itself sounds a little like a train, including the way it builds. And that "OOH-WAH-EE-AH-OOH-WAH" sounds like a train whistle.
This was off a great album. Loved it all. Cat Stevens before he got religion. Nice Hap

Didn't know he was a drug user. He is actually before my time but had young aunt's and uncles that enjoyed him. So, I began to appreciate his music.

I LOVE your reaction! And your process! You are genuinely listening!
Thank you so much!!

I prefer the studio version on this one
We actually have a singer here that is still with us today. And he can see that the entire "peace train" idea was a fantasy. Sad.
The 60s really were a time of optimism and hope figure that was the decade that civil rights came to be. There was a lot of tension during that time as well. Makes me want to watch Remember the Titans. Excellent movie about a true story.

No. Not with Satan in the world.
This song is relevant any time, especially now
