- Out in North Carolina, there ain't much desert racing going on. But that ain't stopping Tim O'Dell from building this gorgeous yet functional off-road rig at his shop, Vice unlimited. Based off the chassis of a 1946 Diamond T, this thing has all the performance of an Ultra4 rig, while carrying some super unique style. Larry breaks down the finer details of this build during King of the Hammers.

My God ... this is what happen when off road n hot rod enthusiast created their own race car : hot ultra rod. He build by his hand n passion. Just amazing.

This think blew my mind, you could tell this was a labor of love build too. I don’t think we will ever see another truck as creative and well thought out like this one. I’m 33 and I want a poster of this on my wall in my bed room!
As someone who has followed speedhunters for like 10 years, and watching pretty much exclusively car content on youtube/instagram etc, I dont say this lightly - This is probably the coolest build/car/truck I have ever seen. The mix of old and new is insane, and I want it.
This car has so much style and personality, awesome just seeing those original brass fittings sitting so comfortable with all the modern suspension parts.

The Diamond T is a rare find as far as I know so that makes this build even better!! Awesome awesome work on the build and this video!!!

I love autofocus just because you are a great host, not loud and annoying. You see awesome vehicles and integrate photography. As an amateur photographer/car nut. This is one of my favorite shows on UA-cam.
This is one of the coolest uses for a diamond T I have ever seen. Steve Darnell did one that was pretty badass, but I think this might Trump his. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is absolutely phenomenal and I love the function over form. I can't believe the way the cab is sealed and keeping as much dust out as it does what a spectacular build and I am so impressed.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍👍😄
Nathan matas, Steve Darnell has built more than one Diamond T. Checkout his UA-cam channel from the days before Vegas Rat Rods even started...he sure knows how to build them right. I agree with you, too, this one is also phenomenal.
This reminds me of something Darnell would have built but a bit more refined
What is insane to me is this guy is literally 20 mins for me, and I had no idea that people make incredible stuff like this around me. Amazing what people int these little towns can create..true artist
these rigs lead the way. I drive first generation of gmt400.. never changing a thing about IFS. By chance my dad (42 years trucking) called me while watching this, I was telling him about the diamond T cab. Interesting for nearly everybody.
With a background in professional Motorsports and a few trips to Baja 1000, truly appreciate all the craftsmanship in this beast. He’s so humble.

Wow, so glad you brought this to us. What an amazing build and such a nice guy! There was an old iron 4400 car that i believe had a dodge power wagon body on it I saw both in the pits and out on the course the day of the race. It was a solid axle car, however.
This guy looks like Jaime Kennedy's COOL older bro. What a sweet build, I like the window pop out. Getting rid of the glass in my honda build and was trying to think of something similar to this, but decided to go window nets in the front only on a Florida weekend toy. Cool things like this are the best builds, so unique. Thanks Larry for spotlighting another great build.

This might be my favorite build I've ever seen. Super clean and well thought out. Might have opted for a supercharger over the turbo but that's just personal preference. I grew up dirt biking in the desert and this has just given me some serious future goals lol.
His metal work is so incredible. The blend of old and new is so immaculate. Masterpiece for sure.

I've always liked Diamond T pickups. This is now my favorite one, and it won't be topped.
Was out all week at koh. Hands down one of the best builds
Diamond T was a brand tell 1967 when it closed down they made trucks for the military for all the wars and produced some bad ass 6 wheel drive's as well as the standard street grade pick up and everything in between but you don't see them much most of the ones that survive are in collections and museums. it's a damn shame to they look just like the Diamond Rio trucks I love so much and also never see same deal different brand all in collections or museums.
What a fantastic mind to create such an beautiful piece of machinery. Bravo!

Beautiful work. When he talks about thinking things out and using 1 bracket for multiple things. U can see the whole truck was blue printed in his head.

How lucky I am to live just down the street from Vice Unlimited. Tim Odell is a magician with metal and a welder. His mind and ambition are simply AMAZING!!!! Also just to note that Fab Fours has a truck called Kymera, I watch Tim build the entire Kymera. Tim chopped the top, built the chassis, fitted the engine and drive train, wired it the whole nine yards but fab fours says “ yeah we built this blablabla but I am an eye witness to Tim Odell making all the parts for the Kymera and building it.
If it hasn’t happened already, someone is going to offer him an ABSOLUTELY OBSCENE amount of fun tickets for that super-functional work of art. There are “custom” builders getting 150k-250k for vehicles that don’t come anywhere close to this level of imagineering, execution, performance, and jaw dropping cool factor. If I hit the lottery today I would make an offer SO stupid...... well, you get the picture.

One guy does so much with a vehicle and creates something special. I know car manufactures can and do make some special vehicles but I just wish they would cease with the boring and mundane and do things like this. This Diamond T is amazing. Awesome build!
If the window latches seem familiar, they're from the drag racing world - they're used on the other side of a fixed window on a door car to hold the window shut against a tab hanging off of the roll cage.
Convenient little two-way latches, can be used for a number of unique solutions, like how it holds his windows in the doors

It would be so cool if someone made aftermarket skins for fabs like this to work off of. The style of some of these old machines are the best and as far as I know, they aren't available.
if this was recorded on a GoPro you need a wind cover on the camera, and turn off wind cancellation or voices will echo when it's windy. this seems to be a big problem with the new 7s and 8s. great build, great video, larry you're the best.

That was an awesome machine! Very though out and perfectly executed. Also, this channel is growing on me! I really like the photography aspect. How the photos (amazing btw) are sprinkled throughout w a montage at the end. Thanks for doing this! If you ever wanted a video idea or just felt like revisiting these vids, it would be awesome to see a "post production video" from a desk and screen where you tell us more about the shoot (gear, exposure, thoughts one photos, challenges during shoot). Yesterday I watch a Kermit Weeks video and the guy just said why he restore old planes,it is like a time traveling machine,He just want to be there wile the plane was build. Sick car!
