Agreed. Unfortunately there’s a reason Mellow only has ~65K subscribers and Magnus has almost 900K. Outdoor climbing is a niche activity that doesn’t interest most people
you should just treat these short, single boulder videos as a series where each is treated as it's own episode. give them an episode number and put it all in a playlist. it wouldn't make the actual videos any different, but it would help "market" them on UA-cam and encourage people to watch other videos in the series
I like you, your a thinking person. One thing though, Anton made a series for ninja warrior competing and he said it actually did more harm than good to his channel
As someone who doesn't climb, knows next to nothing about climbing, and doesn't watch any other climbing channels, these types of videos are my favorite, except I'd like them to be longer.
@@MF-CLIMB Im sure James is like me. These kind of clips for us who are non climbers is break away from our office jobs and vanilla life with other time consuming stuff. I myself would love to go climb and I watched all magnus and antons videos. But I'm to invested in other hobbies for the moment. So this will be something for later in life when I also cut the body weight a fair bit.
@@libb3n Climbing is a great way to start cutting your body weight. It's so immensely addictive even though you climb really easy stuff in a gym. The progression is so straightforward and rewarding. It will motivate you to start working on weight and strength just to be better on the wall. But yes, the big downside it will consume a lot of your time, so if you have other important hobbies it might be problematic :D
I love little rock benches! There's one on my first and favorite hike and it's my favorite place to stop. This video reminded me of that and made me happy, and it's fun to me that Magnus gets just as excited about rock benches as I do 😊
Magnus, my dude. Don't sweat it. EVERYTHING you do is interesting. You're by far my favorite channel on youtube... and I'm not even a climber. You're amazing man. Thanks.
I love how Magnus kinda got the name origin wrong.. lol he said it's called the stove because they lit fires there, but in the drone footage it looks exactly like a gigantic old stone kitchen. It looks like an old stove or cooktop from ancient days! Pretty damn cool!
This is amazing! I started climbing in 1977, my uncle and aunt lived just below Kolsås so I would visit "Gårdsplassen" (the patio meeting spot shown here) every time I came by. We did not have pads, so we climbed all the (easier) boulders around Bål/Peisbulder'n with either no padding or just a spotter or two. When I first saw the start of the video I thought I had also climbed this one but that's almost certainly just wishful thinking, even if the friction must have been much better before so many climbers had polished everything. I did recognize the starting moves Magnus did to downclimb back to the patio. :-)
Wow, 1977 that's even before I started. I was "born" on Gårdsplassen in 1980, I do remember we tried that Peisbulder'n problem, but it was too hard and I don't recall anyone doing it, maybe Marius did it first. Hardest climb was 7+ when I started, Kolsås was only seen as training area for climbing in the mountain. I had actually to hide my chalk bag, was some old school hardliners that could beat me up, if they saw us kids using chalk, lol. In a few years we moved the grades from 7+ (7a) to 9 (8b) and modern sports climbing was born. I remember Per and me working on Marathon that winter in 88, I couldn't do it, but secured him on the first ascent of a 9 in Norway. There was a Terje in Trondheim, if that's you, you showed me Størenhammern and the climbing in Korsvika. :)
Please make a lot more videos like this. I can't speak for everyone but I love seeing different parts or Norway and really enjoy seeing the process of you working a problem or route.
Oh, man how I miss these old simple videos of just climbing and filming yourself! I feel like they are the essence of the channel since the beginning, you should to them more, even if it doesn't give you that much money.
I was there today to try the crack next to it! I was surprised there were chalk marks there because it looks like silly hard. For those not in the know: The rock there is pretty slippery, very little friction from the rock type itself. It's very smooth and you need good edges to stick to the wall. Please more videos like this, I love seeing the bouldering around Oslo
Finally outdoor climbing content. I must say I mostly only enjoy these kind of videos. Other stuf is fun, but this gives me that nostalgic feeling that makes me want to go outdoors immediately.
Seeing Magnus climb around and just his smile makes your day.. I will start climbing around the end of may and I can't wait to just be smiling the whole time :)

I like the short bouldering videos! Keep them coming. Also, the drone shots are especially awesome in this. They are good in normal videos, but doing it in nature just adds so much.
Videos like this one are perfect, they show the preparation, the struggle and the final satisfaction that comes from climbing successfully. All the good things condensed in a few minutes of great entertainment. I wish people would appreciate more.
Magnus legit dude I love videos where you just climb over anything else. Others are interesting, but never underestimate how interesting you climbing is
