Insulting other groups and belittling their efforts does nothing for BTS's image. Please edit your comment or YOU are a member of BTS and the real Army and want to create fanwar!!
As for this podcast's guest and its presenter... One is ignorant and I'm not going to give much importance to what he says, but as a journalist/music critic he MUST research his subjects better (if he is a journalist/music critic).
As for the guest.... Her attitude... You are copying It!
Apart from the fact that she didn't bring anyone contemporary to BTS or talk about other groups that are enjoying international success now such as Seventeen, Black Pinky,Twice, Stray kids, Ateez, Itzy, Ive, NewJeans among some names.
But she almost skipped the first generation as a wole like the TVXQ, The First Seo TJ &boys too. Or Eyed Brown girls or The others Second generation like WG or TAra or Kara.

I have not named any Kpop group/s because I do not know them nor do I listen to them. I only follow and listen to BTS. I am here for BTS. I am an ARMY who disagrees with the biased comments made against BTS by those podcasters featured in Boracity's commentary. Any intelligent person would probably agree with me that this video is focused on BTS from the title alone, "BTS and Kpop without the K"! I was warned about Kpop fans like you though...those who make their Kpop idols ride on the coattails of BTS every single time. It's pathetic! And frankly, that is not how it works here in the States. they began to belittle, hate and attack bts and army from the very beginning of bts' promotion in america. even when the guys released and sang songs in korean. bts is not the first and definitely not the last korean artists to sing songs in english but they received the most criticism and hate. kpopies even ignores the fact that sm created an entire group just to promote in america. they hate bts because of three english songs, but at the same time they stan a group that exists only for hype and fame in america. double standards🤦🏻‍♀️

That was one of my biggest issues with this podcast. The main focus being on BTS 3 fully English songs and JK's fully English album. And simply ignoring all of the Korean songs BTS has also done over the last few years and the solo albums of the other members of BTS that were also in Korean. People seem to think BTS started to only make songs in English after Dynamite when that's not the case at all. My take is whether BTS sing/rap in Korean, English, or any other language I just want the song to be good.

All of this 👆🏻AND, how could they have that whole conversation and never once mention the difficulty non-English songs have in the Western music industry? Perhaps the reason they could only talk about the English-language hits is because of the racism and xenophobia of entire English-speaking countries doing everything they can to block and minimize the accomplishments of anyone singing in a language other than English? How is that the fault of the artists, and how dare they judge said artists when they say “okay, I’ll sing in English 🤷🏻‍♀️”. And then to hate on those efforts by saying “the songwriters are Western.” My response to them is: “YEAH, you idiots. Because these artists don’t actually speak English fluently!! Let’s see you put even a coherent sentence together in a language you don’t speak, let alone write a freaking hit song in it.”

TBH, I've looked at Big Bang a few times and it always just made me cringe. The styling, the slickness, the overwrought videos.
It was probably just the expectation of the times, and I know JK himself was inspired by G Dragon (who is a genius in his own right).
But if Big Bang had been my first intro to kpop, I would have confirmed that it was fluff trying to be tough.
I would have tuned out and never given any other group a chance.

Now, I've NEVER been into boy bands, and I was the first to roll my eyes and be so high and mighty about my loftier tastes. But even in that era, I recognized that these guys were more than that.

I just want to say something. Before K-pop, there was zero ASIAN representation in the American music industry despite the fact that there are Asian Americans, but no one was like "We need to lift our Asian brothers and sister in this industry". The only time representation seemed to matter what for blacks and Latinos, but this goes back to history (Asians being viewed as sub-humans). As a black woman, I agree with and understand why K-pop includes Asians from other backgrounds. It is no different than us pushing for black people to buy from black-owned companies regardless of where the black people are from. It's literally just uplifting their community, but because K-pop is popular now, other races may want in on it and will demonize the industry out of jealousy. Hints Joe Budden's racist reaction to BTS despite knowing nothing about them. Or racist white podcast. They have gotten it from every end. I am in a good mood so I don't want to watch this bullsh*t but I wanted to give my random view on K-pop and why I choose to support it.

Justin Timberlake got on 3D for the digital remix. And Usher did the Standing Next to you Remix with JK. Western Artists are acknowledging them, and respectfully. I hated this podcast. There are numerous people that try to tear BTS down with their podcasts, and also the Media in South Korea, and the USA. There have also been Mexican and German radio and tv hosts that do the same. They just can't stand that a South Korean Group became so successful and popular. And BTS and ARMY have to deal with that all the time. It was really bad in their early days around 2015/16. And again when they became popular in the West. I have a hard time listening to it, because it's hurtful and unnecessary negativity, and it's directed at seven men that I care about and don't want to be hurt.

So funny people criticizing BTS saying they are desperate for western attention and bringing up always the few English songs they have lmao. Remember the amount of hate they got when they released Butter saying they changed and blah blah while literally ignoring the whole BE album that came after Dynamite 💀 If you don't like those happy English songs, that's okay, they literally have hundreds of Korean songs and many Japanese songs as well. Saying they stopped being fans bc of their new direction after listening one song lol. I mean of you are a real fan you should know how experimental and versatile they have always been. That's nothing knew but I completely understand when people unstan someone if their constantly find the new music boring, but if it's just like 3 songs that's kind of crazy lol
Anyways, Kpoppies are just bitter bc BTS had a huge success with those English songs while ignoring the other many times attends of other groups and their favs doing the same. The only difference is that they didn't succeed and most of them did have that main purpose of getting the western attention. That's why after seeing BTS at the top of the charts and making history, suddenly a lot of groups started releasing English songs or English versions of their title tracks. Many didn't even chose to do that bc the companies mostly take their artistic decisions instead and it's all about being trendy.
That's the difference and it's nothing wrong, but lying about BTS' clear intentions behind these songs... it's pretty stupid especially when your favs are doing the things you are criticizing so much. Armys know that Bangtan mainly did those songs to make people happy, even Dynamite was something completely unplanned so yeah... Either way I think hating for the language is so wrong..
English, Japanese, Korean.. those are just different languages. I see no problem if BTS or any other artists plans to keep doing that or even adding new languages, go ahead.

It doesn't seem like you got the point in boracitys video. Like she said BTS aren't really kpop and not all korean music or music in korean is kpop. There are many non kpop rappers, ballad singers, rock bands and even pop singers. Kpop is not a music genre, it's an industry that is more about the fashion, danve moves and aestetics than a common music type or genre. And Korea dorsn't really listen to the most eclectic styles of kpop. In Korea ballads that are emotional are always charting, not songs like many kpop songs that are mostly electronic witz nonsense words. Like what shr played before saying Korea doesn't listen to that and about which you laughed, those were kpop songs and not western songs.
Alos the whole "westernisation" of kpop is moot because most of tge music you think of as "kpop" came from tge west in tge form of hiphop, r&b, rock, edm and others. Kpop is culurally not inherently Korean and I think you don't understand that. The concepty in kpop have mostly nothing to do with things that are traditionally Korean it's just made by Korean people (and even then they often use western producers and songwriters).

I think when people say "westernized" they're saying they're not "korean enough" for them. That they're singing in english or not dressing "korean enough" for them. Like... really, what does it mean to be westernized? It sounds like they're just xenophobic because you want them to stay what you think is korean. When you're not even korean to begin with. It's a really weird take. Most of the genres in korea are the same as the rest of the world, they just don't want korean artists to be successful in the rest.
