That certainly bought back a lot of memories for me. I was a fireman at nearby Saltley (21A/2E) during the 60's and spent a lot of time working through mainly the Midland side (7 to 11) and during the reconstruction. Jubilees & Black 5's doing the work of today's XC Voyagers. Thanks for uploading . Cheers, Brian.
During the early to mid sixties I travelled to New Street regularly with my Aunt and witnessed both the rebuilding of the station and construction of the Bull Ring centre and Rotunda. Fond memories of those days as well - the Jubilees were very prevalent as evidenced by this video.
I passed through that building site in July 65. A Sunday School holiday week to Ilfracombe. I remember masses of scaffolding bridges and green netting all over, but not much else sadly.
Wish I had seen the original New Street Station instead of the gloomy concrete monstrosity that replaced it. My brother said that he had the occasional footplate ride there when an engine was running round its train or shunting.
Thanks John, another gem of Railway nostalgia.
Thanks for watching.

Lovely to see that...brings back many happy memories of my teenage trainspotting days
Glad you enjoyed it
Remember being enveloped in steam and exhaust when waiting in Navigation Street for a bus home. Good old days ❤

Oh happy days, when we didn't have a care in the world
The old Birmingham new street had an atmosphere about it
Then it became the cold uncaring corporate stoic entity it is now
