Can I build my own pool? Yes, you can! Subcontracting the build of your own swimming pool is not rocket science. At INYOpools.com, we have seen a huge trend in homeowners building their own swimming pools. When most people think of building their own pool, they think that they would be like the professional pool contractor out digging the hole for the pool, doing the plumbing and electrical, etc.- but this is not the case. Most pool contractors do not do the actual labor of building the pool themselves. Pool builders act as general contractors (GC) and subcontract the building of the pool to various subcontractors (subs), so when you purchase a pool from your local pool company, they are organizing the build of your pool through subs.

@@CIintB3ASTW0oD Yes, I dug about a foot underground and used wooden boards for the side that you use for house roofs. I then put a large blue tarp on the bottom and then heavy duty clear plastic over it and it worked great. It was 16 X 8 and 3.5 feet deep. Last summer I was going to make it bigger, 20 X 16 and 4 feet deep but I sold the house.

how much money did it cost and take you to finish? and does having more people make the job easier or harder in this situation
no need to compact the dirt around the pool with a jumping jack? Would fail inspection in FL, unless im missing some thing on why no need for it by code.
Richard thanks for the comment, I believe the orange machine used at the 6:30 mark of the video is what was used to compact the dirt for the pool deck. The pool did pass the soil compaction inspection by the state and I believe that was the piece of equipment that was used to pass the states compaction requirements.

Where footings will bear on compacted fill material, the compacted fill shall comply with the provisions of an approved report, which shall contain the following: 1. Specifications for the preparation of the site prior to placement of compacted fill material. 2. Specifications for material to be used as compacted fill. 3. Test method to be used to determine the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of the material to be used as compacted soil. 4. Maximum allowable thickness of each lift of compacted fill material. 5. Field test method for determining the in-place dry density of the compacted fill. 6. Minimum acceptable in-place dry density expressed as a percentage of the maximum dry density determined in accordance with Item 3. 7. Number and frequency of field tests required to determine compliance with Item 6. Exception: Compacted fill material less than 12 inches (305 mm) in depth need not comply with an approved report, provided it has been compacted to a minimum of 90 percent Modified Proctor in accordance with ASTM D 1557. The compaction shall be verified by a qualified inspector approved by the building official.
Appreciate If you could advise What is the mixing ratio of the mortar, how much sand and cement?
For simple concrete the mix would be portland cement, sand and gravel mixed together in a ratio of 1:2:3

I have inground pool with liner, we now replace liner, what i need put in pool floor, which concrete best for pool? Because my pool in floor have something sandy i think want off sand and cover cement.
Honda cr-v One part Grey Portland Cement to 2-4 parts Vermiculite. That is a semi-porous mineral which will yield a soft firm bottom under your liner. You can adjust the amount of cement according to how strong you need the final product.

We filmed and produced the timelapse video, but we were not the contractors shown in it. There's a chance what you mention is possible, but the answer is lost to time.

Hi Richard, The orange plastic netting is used as a safety barrier and is set up each time workers are inactive or away from the construction site.
It's actually snow fence.. for slowing drifting snow down. But has many other uses including a warning barrier, but it wouldn't stop a chihuahua from getting thru it
It's to warn people that construction work or a hazard is on the other side of it and to stay out.

Pool alone I'm sure is about $30,000plus concrete I'd say about $50,000 plus the enclose pushin about$70,000. Our pool was $30k plus concrete on side which was bigger then this ..it came out to $38k I got a good deal. Cuz it was the co I worked for.

Where do the water go after you drain the pool? Is it recycled and filtered? Or just drained?
If you're referring to the water pooling in the deep end during construction, you can use a sump pump to direct it to a storm drain or into your lawn.

You don't have to be rich to build an inground pool just Dig a hole as big as you want it and pour done concrete in the sucker an fill it up.. you don't even have to have running water just let the rain water fill that sucker up an your good to go.. lol 😁

That would be a nice affect. Keep in mind with this type of open area backyard, plants and shrubbery can always be added later if the pool needs a little more personality..

Those prices on the link you provided are wildly inaccurate according to prices here in Florida. Each one you can add 15-20k to the price.

Concrete is blown onto the walls and floor to form the shell of the pool.
No rebar around the outside of the pool. There's going to be a pissed off homeowner when the concrete cracks.
Crazson34 isn’t that what the expansion joints are for? I know the rebar reinforces the concrete but maybe that was a cost cut? Idk

Watching a few of these swimming pools and none of them have a diving board. Just a jacuzzi and a water slide. Seems like these cities are becoming terrified of the 99% who got no satisfaction.
