My wife and I are African American homeschooling Christians. I am a piano player and have participated in worship as a piano player going on 20 years. I have to say I completely loved the purity and sincerity of this worship.
Me to my sister. I am a 36 year African American Jamican woman also a christian. I have always held something deep in my heart in relation to the mennonites and how they run their choir etc. God is so good.
Creo que deben dejar de llamarse americanos africanos porque no lo son. Los africanos se refiere a una región heo política. Deben indicar simplemente que son de raza negra. Yo soy de raza negra y es evidente. Ustedes son americanos
I was thinking the same! I live in NYC and I've been to the shows and have a few in my building (I can hear them practicing). Her pipes are definitely up to par!
Tears! How wonderful to listen to this during these troubling times and the great message that we are not alone. I have just found this today, and have probably already listened to it 10 times, and I know there will be many more future listenings. And, as a musician I can appreciate so much the balance and phrasing of the choir, and delicate phrase endings of the vocalists. I'm a member of the church of Christ and truly appreciate acapella singing. God bless us all.
I'm an Anglican and sing tenor in choir and I've heard some beautiful singing in my short short life (I'm 18 tomorrow) and I'm glad I can say I've heard this. A beautiful message presented in a warm and beautiful way. All glory be to God. It's amazing how music and praise can bring together all who believe in Christ our saviour. I'm not a birth Anglican or even a birth Christian but opened my heart to God and how to love and praise Him and was baptized at 17. This is truly amazing and thank you so much for uploading.
Samuel Fritz thank you for recognizing the work that went into this. Blessings on your musical and spiritual journey! We borrow a lot of music and tradition from the Anglican choir tradition.
@@OasisChorale Hello, l am preaching a message this Saturday related to this song, with your permission may l use this video as my closing song please. Thank you in advance.
I still get tears in my eyes after listening to this ... and I'll bet I've listened to it a few dozen times!!! Extremely well done. Pepper is one of my favourite hymn writers.
This particular video, and the corresponding message, has become very important to me. Two days into our province's COVID state of emergency my son was ambulanced to hospital. A few days later this video landed on my Facebook timeline. During a time when I unable to pray, unable to find any words, this song became my only prayer. I clung to its message. My son died two weeks later and I requested that this video be played at his memorial. We are only just now able to plan a celebration of his life for after COVID restrictions are lifted. I have asked that this song be part of the service. These days I still "visit" this youtube video from time to time. It helps me feel close to my son's memory. Thank you.
I am so sorry Laura. The essence of you son is eternal. As a former hospital chaplain this is one thing of which I am certain! Belief aside...I have direct bedside experience that convinces me of our immortality. Blessings...
Laura, your message brings tears to my eyes. I just read your message after listening to this lovely song. I'm sorry about the loss of your son. What an awesome blessing to know that God is with us, we are never alone.
Oh noooooo! I am soooo deeply saddened to hear your story. This song has blessed me so many times, usually in times of deep anguish and grief. I know so little of how prayer works but I DO sense the presence of God when I hear this choir sing this particular song.
Praying for you and your family. I'm so sorry that your son's life was cut short but you know you will once again enjoy being with your son. Praise The Lord for even in sorrow we have the knowledge that we are never alone in these difficult times and joy will return to you knowing that what The Lord has done for us is to give us life eternal with Him and our loved ones. That just makes me want to shout praises to God Almighty for you and for me. Rest In The Lord He Will Give You Total Peace
A shout-out to Sandy Ridge Mennonites, we have been singing this piece every few years with our church choir at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Stanwood, Washington since about 2015. This video is beautiful. Thank you for posting.
I listen to this often...it is so beautiful, moving and the choir has such perfect blend. The female vocalist has a voice that resonates such glory and warmth. A lovely anthem to listen to during this troublesome time in our world. Thank you to this wonderful choir and their talented director.
I found this today and I'm just immensely blessed by it, both as a believer and choir singer. What a simple but profound message in these times that we are NEVER alone for He is always with us! I must say that I very much appreciate and enjoy the choir member's perfectvocal and tonal control, the emotional content of the words delivered by the vocal dynamics as they swell and diminish at just the right places. Wonderful breath control! Both soloist have beautiful voices, but the woman soloist has an amazing voice! I lost count how many times today I played this and joined in, singing bass as I worshiped in song with this choir. I've recommended this piece to my choir director at our church. This would also make a wonderful benediction to close the service with, perhaps often, with the message that we are not alone ringing in our minds as we leave. Thank you for this post, for the blessing it gives, and for using your God given voice talents for Him.
Ever so often I just have to look this one up again to listen and watch. I always know it, and I always believe it. But sometimes I just have to hear it in my ears. Some elements of peace can only be passed on in the voices of others. So thank you all again. Much love.
That is just.... absolutely beautiful! Almost next to heaven itself. It makes me wonder what we will hear when we finally get back home again.... if I try hard enough, I almost can remember...
This brings tears of Joy every time I listen to it. I will be singing this beautiful song this Sunday in our Church. This IS the perfect song during this Covid-19 time we are experiencing.
Beautiful work! As a former chorister, I can attest to how difficult it is to sing like this; spread out & moving. Please keep singing, no matter who you are. We each have our own songs!
Perhaps you _are_ a religious person, as all of us are, at least in the sense described by Harold Bloom: "I believe, as Emerson did, in the god within-that there is loaded within the rock of ourselves that oldest and best part of us, which in some curious sense is divine." Be blessed.
Oh this is soooo beautiful! My dad was raised Mennonite and if he were still living, he would LOVE to hear this, I'm sure!!! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. The Body of Christ needs to be reminded that truly the Lord is with us!!!!
Oh my goodness what a true statement! My choir teacher posted this on our google classroom for an elearning assignment and I’m so glad she did! This is amazing!! The harmonies are angelic!!! Praise be to God!
This week will be 16 years since my dear Mum died. This beautiful hymn reminded me that in life or the Valley of the Shadow of death ,we are never alone.
The Oasis Chorale is my choral Spirit family -- I love their sound, their songs, and the Spirit in which they sing! It was a great day when I heard them for the first time. :-)
2019 was the beginning of the Jubilee year. Where are we at in the Word of God!? We are in the STORM: Let us ALL PREPARE for the LORD Jesus his return. Blessings in Jesus Chriist.
How wonderful also that they don't have applause in the house of God. We have never done so either - I couldn't imagine doing that in any church or even in a different place after hearing spiritual songs and hymns! The peaceful stillness after the song allows the words to be deeply etched into the heart.
It's amazing to me how these people learn to sing so we'll without musical accompaniment other than a tuning fork. I've been singing church music and playing different instruments most of my life. I don't know how I'd do it without at least a piano. Great job, and a great message as well! God truly is with us!
John w thanks for the compliment, John! Singing acapella well does take some training , but our singers have the advantage of growing up in Anabaptist churches where acapella four-part singing is the norm. Glory be to God!
I have listened to this several times and each time I feel like crying. What a beautiful and gentle reminder that we are not alone. Thank you for posting this video.
So timely and appropriate during this pandemic. God is always here to bless, preserve, sustain and sanctify us. May He continue to use your talents to His honor and glory! God bless you always and in all ways...Pastor Jeffrey+
My beloved sister sent this link to family and friends the week before she died during the COVID pandemic. We played it at her funeral. Thanks be to God.
“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Ephesians 4:30. Our sinful bodies are the tempel of the spirit and comforter going out from our Lord and Saviour, until the day we go to Heaven. Indeed, we are never truly alone, if we are saved at all. God Bless!
Lest we forget Pepper! Have conducted this before and it's all in the breath (given from God) Thank you Mr. Chopin for this and choir for this incredible portrayal.
I keep coming back to this song throughout the years and every time I feel the spirit anew. Thank you for blessing us with the spirit through your music❤

@ricardodouglas644 ¿Por qué publicaste una respuesta en español a un comentario en inglés?
Hablo español, es mi lengua madre, el inglés no es mi fuerte. Además la plataforma traduce al inglés lo que las personas escriban en otro idioma.
I love how they seem to sing directly to the people in the row that they are walking past. It is not just a performance but is pastoral ministry.
The first time this song ever brought me to tears was this rendition and for that very reason!
What a gift, the pipes on that woman could be on any broadway stage and her gift is praising the Lord!!!!! Amen and amen!!!!
Mess with them and lost tribes crunch you into
Isaac's people
I was thinking the same! I live in NYC and I've been to the shows and have a few in my building (I can hear them practicing). Her pipes are definitely up to par!
Her standards are too high for Broadway, as they should be.
Wow, the woman who opens this song has a wonderful GOD given gift. I could listen to her sing all day. Truly appreciate her gifted voice, praise God.
What a great reminder during this time of quarantine and isolation!

This piece lifts my heart. I also love the way the choral members visually connect with the congregants.

I need this song in my life...
