Probably one of the best jobs ever, getting paid to ride and talk about the coolest and fastest ATVs ever.
Still a job.
And it’ll get you home ! Ol Yamaha Quality !
Been riding racing in Dez in so cal 30 years never towed or walked back. Yamaha 👍👍
SO 100% accurate with the Sport mode. I don't even use it, I feel like it is a light switch. Trail and Crawl are the good "D" modes. Great review, I feel exactly how you guys do! Love the way this video was shot! LOOKS AMAZING! Everyone is going to love the new RMAX! Thanks guys!
Thank you!!
Yes this Video in HD on TV was sweet !
I wish I lived closer to trails like that....... I also wish I had an extra $23K laying around. How about a 3rd wish - Yamaha offers 0% financing for 60 mos..... Awesome video!
Excellent review! Really liked the laid back and casual feel instead of the rapid fire list of specs you usually get in videos like this. Watching and hearing your honest reactions in real time is fabulous.
Side bolsters should have been done away with for marginally higher, wider offset doors- this gives added width and better protection. That said, I'm 6'2" and wear a 54 jacket and I got used to the bolsters in my X2 and X4 because like my truck, I drive left-handed. This forces my left shoulder both forward and inward and it really was never an issue unless i was sitting still. You can also just cut them off as many have done. if this is the only fault one has with this beast, it's minor to say the least. They also changed the setup for the X2/X4 which is welcomed. Yamaha hit a home run here.
This is the best video y’all have made. I have been watching y’all for a few years. I like the both of you talking to each other. Both of you giving your separate opinions. And lots of driving and video of the product moving. great job guys.
Thanks so much!!
I agree 100%
My CFMOTOs have been good but I think I'll be looking at one of these for my my next. I feel like this would be great on the trails, be decently sporty, and also be a great ice fishing rig come winter. Thanks again to Dirt Trax - Always helping us repurpose our kids' college funds!
Awesome review DT ! looks like Yamaha hit it out of the park with this one, I'm not much into the fire road style of riding, so the trails/crawling is perfect for me ! thanks for sharing and being honest.
I been watching the Lester family for a long time, and the thing I loved most about this video is seeing you guys testing the machine together , great review!
Awesome! Thank you!
Honda has to come up with something to compete with this ASAP. This machine is a beauty!
I am in love with AJs house. That style is gorgeous.
I love the shoulder guards. Saved me a few times
True brothers. Have rode together for years. No idea what trail brother is talking about but he’s talking it up.
Pick my 2021 up 3 weeks ago, and still "breaking" the motor in with 8.5 hours on it. This beast climbs like an old jeep, wow. I have only throttled it up to 41, and I cannot wait to open this thing up! It just begs for more!! 1000cc's of screaming eagles here in the badlands of Nevada!!!
Great review. I agree on all fronts. Love this machine!
Been waiting for this review!!! Can always count on you guys to actually put it through a real test ride.
Thank you!!
Excellent and fair review as always! I bought one of these and was waiting for your test drive review! You both nailed it. This machine is not pure sport, yet it's sporty, it's not pure trail, but more than capable. Plush ride, ample power, plenty of factory installed accessories, etc. I left my 2018 XP 1000 Ride Command Edition for this machine. Loved the RZR, but I truly feel this was the machine I was waiting for. In fact, when I showed it to my wife, she wanted to go see one and she fell in love with it immediately. BTW, we are both in our mid-50's. The RMAX has utility, but tons of capability for whatever I want to use it for. Again, I truly respect the reviews you guys provide on all of the latest products out there. You feedback is very genuine. Keep it up.
THANK YOU!!
Great video guys! Man, I wish I had your riding spots! It’s beautiful up there!
As usual you guys do a great job, love your content!
Thanks so much!
Nice job!! Enjoyed that!!
Would love to see more sibling rivalry videos. Maybe some of the Lester’s sitting around the shop taking about different machines, or trail systems, maybe accessories? I have been watching for years and love your content. Keep it up!
Love it. Thank you!!
Great video guys , awesome camera work top-notch. Now just need it in my garage. Stopped by your world Headquarters, looks even better in person. Thanks guys.
Thanks 👍
Wow good job fellas
Thanks for the review. Seems like a really good bang for buck. Your technical trails at the end are our typical trails here in Alberta. I think this will be a hot seller, due to the versatility.
Super awesome video thank you so much for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Awsom video guys I've been looking at one of those machines now for the last two to three months and after watching ur video I believe I'm gonna buy one definitely the green one like u were testing like the looks of that one
You guys answered all my questions.. Great review
Thank you!
Great video guys ! Thanks 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
I"m such a huge fan of Yamaha powersports! Looks like they knocked this Utv out of the park! Thank you for the videos and the honest feedback!
Thank you!!
Love that it has the Army look in ...thanks for that video
Nice review guys! This is going to be the swiss army knife of the Yamaha line up, as the General is to the Polaris line up. Thank you!
Awesome!! Thanks for watching and for commenting!!
Thanks for the killer review and test drive, I am sold. I plan on buying two of them so my friends and I can have some fun on the track and trails at the farm I will also have a RMAX4 XTR. That should be enough to have some fun at the farm. I don't know when we will have time to work but when we do we will be using the XTRs. LOL, Paul from Texas
Yeah, I’m sold! This is the vehicle I’ve been waiting to see a Japanese manufacturer make.
Excellent video 👍and review 👍 that machine looks great . I like that you said that you don't have one complaint . That's how I feel about my griz xtr . It's a Yamaha thing 😁
great video, great breakdown
Appreciate it!
If this thing came in a Camo that’d be siiick! Great video!👍
Thank you!
Great job DT, if you can let’s see head to head with the General.
As always, checking out the DIrt Trax guys for some truth and perspective. Love your review. Now the real question, how does it stack against the General! Pretty sure that what many of us want to know. :)
We actually just picked up a General and we are getting an RMAX 4 shortly. Stay tuned for some excitement!!
@@dirttraxtv which model of rmax 4 did you get?!
Have not picked up our RMAX 4-seater yet.
@@dirttraxtv I'm not usually a big sxs guy, sport quads are my thing, but I gotta say I'm really excited for a General vs. RMAX shootout.
It cracks me up hearing people say Yam-a -ha.
Always heard and said it Yah-ma-ha...
Killer video tho, guys. Getting me a Limited very soon to ride here in Maine. 🇺🇸❤️🤟
Another great review guys. I want one too!! 😀
Thanks for watching!
My brother and I love riding and we ride all the time. We are members of the fourtown Grygla sportsmans club, I love pure sport atv, and have a built Yamaha raptor that is around 80hp. He has 4 snowmobiles, on the family farm, and his passion is snowmobiling. He goes out to the on adventures in the Rockies as well. I just got married a few years ago and have been waiting for Yamaha to build a decent utv for both the wife and myself. Finally they made the Rmax, I was thinking of a honda pioneer 1,000 until this came out.
Hi just bought one, haven’t had the chance to drive it yet, too much snow in my neck of the woods, but am I ever looking forward to spring, lol
Thanks for the review. Did you guys stay dry through the water crossings ?
Best review I’ve seen you guys do. Well done. Other reviews have been great but this casual conversation is the way to go - super informative and a candid of your experience.
I wish Yamaha would make a two up atv. I know the market trends make them look like a dinosaur, but the r-max is going to scare $30k in my yard. I believe there is still a strong market for a narrow and efficient touring bike.
Much appreciated!
verry nice machine
NOW, go test drive an RMAX4 LE, which has wider rear tires that you mentioned and has HIGHER tilt table specs through the SAME testing AND then a General 4 through the same and give us your feedback ;)
No LE in Canada
@@kenp4464 I know, wishful-thinking when I wrote it. BUT, even the RMAX4 SE should be sufficient for testing.
Love the video! Only disappointment I had was you didn't film and talk about switching the shock positions. 35mph or higher sport mode shock set at firm.. Trail mode 15mph to 35mph and shock set at middle.. Crawl mode 0 to 15mph and shock set to soft. So i hear.. But thats what I wanted to see a demo of the shock adjustment and how they ride?.. Can you do another test run video? Lol
IMO you shouldnt have to do this. If I want it to ride soft in all conditions, I should be able to leave it set that way. With the shocks set to level 3 in sport mode, the ride would be so rough it would be awful. Honestly, here at Dirttrax, we basically NEVER use the full firm settings on any shocks. Even when jumping, medium is usually more than adequate.
I would buy one. I love off roading. And trail riding. I live in BC Canada and we got some decent mountains and trails. Although, this might make it too easy lol.
Nice review bro
Thank you so much 🙂
Yeah I would def love to see a review of the rmax 4 because I'm seriously considering that for the fam. And I think it's the best looking 4 seater to date. And I own a havoc and love it but the seating position is weird lol
Nice design 👍👍
I’ve been waiting a LONG time for Yamaha to bring this to the table while holding off buying anything else. I am curious though how it measures up to the Polaris General since that is currently the main competitor in the market now. I just think it is a home run with a dump bed and I have yet to test one LoL. It’s a Yamaha, I honestly don’t think I have to as familiar with their products as I am. Soon! Real soon.
Good show boys. 👍
Thanks 👍
I really want to buy one after watching this
Have a Grizzly 700. Wanted this RMAX2... Nearly bought a YXZ SS SE... Now after this vid still doubting if RMAX ain't more my thing... DAMNIT it's 30k here in Belgium for both, so can't chooooose 😥 --> wanted this for my 40th birthday but covid and cancer with my GF threw that away... One year later and she is getting better... finally... Soon turning 41 so NEED AN UPGRADE lol... (to clear our heads once and a while hehehe)
I love the RMax. When you guy went through the water, did the inside get wet?
Love the video, glad Yamaha brought something to give Polaris and Can Am a legit run for the money. Not really a fan of the headlights just seem way too small for the size.
I have soft windows attached to the low cut doors. I like this setup and really like the low cut doors and openness in the summer. Stop comparing it to the General. The RMax already surpassed the General.
Only thing I see is doesn't have is a windshield and full door's like the general. Do they have accessories to enclose the cab ? I'm getting old and don't like the cold anymore.
Your Canadian model did not come with the Magellan gps ?, my US model came with it, also you have extra reflectors front back and rear, Iv got 120 miles on my Rmax2 and it’s the best SxS Iv ever had 👍
This model doesnt come with the GPS in canada or the US as per the Yamaha websites. The High end model (limited or special edition? Cant remember which) gets the upgraded electronics.
Been waiting for this review. Nice job. How does it do against general?
We just got a General so we'll give it a ride and will report soon.
I would like to see what Yamaha did with the Viking. The Wolverine is awesome. But I need something for food plots and hunting purposes.
Hell ya Yamaha all the way 😬😎
The seats and steering wheel look they came out of the YXZ. Maybe just changed the angle of the seats?
Hey Guys, I am looking at adding a SxS to the stable. I am looking at either an RMAX or a Maverick sport X (RS/XC). I live on the Wet coast in BC, and will primarily ride it in the mountains here for pleasure. I will not be using it for its utility. Which of these two would you recommend for this application? Thanks in advance and great work on the channel! I have been a long time consumer of your content.
Great review and outstanding camera work and video by the crew.
Watching this on a 65in tv and I didn't want it to be over.
Can you share some info on the trailer?
What would you like to know?
@@dirttraxtv make, material, size, etc. You've talked about many machines, and you did a recent strap vid. Maybe for newbs like me, perhaps a trailer vid is order. Open vs closed, single vs dual, aluminum vs steel. See lots of 6x10/12 with a 2100lb rating which is just about maxing out on an 1800lb SxS and gear.
The model in the video is a Triton aluminum trailer model AUX 1882-Sport. 22.5 ft long, 8.5 feet wide, weights 1338 lbs and has a carrying capacity of 4662 lbs. There are more details on the Triton website.
I am sure you have already talked about this but how about reviewing the base rmax4?
We're getting an RMAX 4 soon, just not sure what trim level it is.
so you have to pick, General XP or Rmax which one?
How will it do for street riding? Here you can drive them on the roads.
I want one! But I just can’t part with my YXZ! I’m just so comfortable in it. Plus the steering, instrument cluster and general build quality is second to none! My wife would kill me if I bought another SXS...🥺
Easier to beg forgiveness than it is to ask permission.
@@dirttraxtv Lol, you don’t want to see a 100 pound woman beat up a man!
Lol you don't want that thing for the desert bro! Don't risk getting beat up! The Rmax would be great for me in Northern Michigan but so is my YXZ. Never been disappointed with it yet.
@@tackhammer222 Lol...Oh yeah, I’m still in love with my YXZ!
Damn goodlooking machine too! Yamaha should have called it the RhinoXP1000. Rhino started everything and this machine looks like a 2021 Rhino to me. ;)
They should have made the shoulder bolsters removable so that each owner could choose if they want them or not. I can see it being a good thing for smaller people, but I'm a big ole boy like these fellas, and nothing is worse on a long ride than having part of your body cramped up! Guess you can always get the torch out and cut em off
I do not have any real complaints about my pioneer 1000 however I would certainly like to try one of these newer Yamaha‘s or perhaps a Viking with an updated power plant but without turf mode none of these are a option.
Guys, wonder if the Sport Mode was designed more for Dune Riding or overall "sandy conditions" ... I am for sure getting one, I have to wait until end of march to save up some but this is the first Rec. side by side , that I feel gives you pretty dang good value for the $$$ I like the General, but, being a prior owner of both Polaris and Yamaha , I am leaning toward Yamaha because of the QC, and overall fit and finish ....Im excited about this machine!! Now lets bring on the snow , and get mobiling!! :)
So a four-seater general or a 4 seater rmax for kids?
Great Review as always guys. The big question Genera XP 4 or RMAX 4?
Man, we love the General 4 we have had this season. Quite possibly the best riding and handling UTV we've had on site this year. Getting an RMAX 4 later this week so stay tuned for some opinions!!
Don’t know how u can even compare polaris garbage quality
Good review! I'm torn between this and KRX. I know they are 2 different machines but I like them both and don't require a 200 hp sxs. Decisions Decisions
VERY different machines.
@@dirttraxtv Yup, I like the KRX for the smooth as glass ride but kinda big for east coast trails and I like the RMAX for the utility factor. Problem is I wouldn't buy the XRT model just the base model RMAX but the base is as much as the KRX and I feel you're getting a lot more bang for the buck with the KRX.
I think you kinda nailed it there with the size of the KRX for eastern trails. Feel like the RMAX would feel more at home and you'd benefit from power-to-weight.
@@dirttraxtv that's what I'm thinking to. I also have 30 acres in southern Ohio and need something I can work but even though the KRX is huge I sure do like it. Probably go with the base model RMAX. Thanks for the input.
Sounds really nice but I think the price is 29-30K to buy?
I caught a glimpse in the video of the Maverick Sport XXC (likely driven by your camera guy). In all honesty, these are the two machines I am looking into for my next SXS. Could you guys drop any thoughts on how those two compare? I definitely see the comparison to the General but in the Can AM lineup, I would not consider the Commander as a viable option. Thanks
They're both pretty awesome machines. As equipped, this one is about 2 grand CDN more than the XXC, but has about 8 more horsepower. A head to head would be interesting...
@@dirttraxtv Thanks. I would love to see that head to head. Yeah the 2 grand difference could be swallowed up pretty easily if you added onboard GPS and a roof to the XXC. I noticed the XTR you're demoing doesn't have the Adventure Pro, but that is standard equipment on that model in the US. I realize the XXC is likely a bit more on the sporty side and the RMAX is a little more on the utility side (Dumping Bed, Crawl Mode) But it would be fun to see how they compare head to head on trails. Same width, similar power etc.
@@dirttraxtv HEAD TO HEAD!
Awesome review! By the way, whats the name of this trail? Is it in Canada? Thnx
Can't recall exactly where this was shot, but will check with the crew. Stay tuned...
Im definitely buying one. My question is. When or how soon will the 2025’s be out for a sneak peak. I love the 2024 but with the 25’s so close, I should wait and see if there are any big changes
Damn I want one but it's a huge price jump from my $250 rhino 660
I forgot, good job Yamaha for putting decent doors on the machine. NO MORE awkward suicide doors. I have an X3 and HATE the suicide doors. I'm always hitting my head while contorting myself to fall into the seat. ERGONOMICS!
Preach!!
What about comparing to 2021 can am commander XTP
Do you plan to review the 4 seater version?
Absolutely.
In your honest opinion, would you pick the RMAX 2 or the General XP 2 seater?
Great question! We just got a General and will be making some comments shortly!!
General or RMax? What do you guys prefer? Great review.
We just got our hands on a new General. Stay tuned for lots of opinion and comments.
How much noise is in the cab when your driving it
I live in Arkansas and most my trail riding is at less than 10 MPH. Lots or rocks washouts and steep hills. I can't make up my mind between this and a talon.
This... if it were my money, not even a question. The Rmax for sure. The talons great. But the Rmax is better.
4 seat rmax awesome 😎
Coming soon!!
Great review, however, please address engine noise and engine heat inside
10 year belt life!!!!?!!? Hey Can Am what’s up?
What engine is in that trail boss
Ok so do you guys think this was needed, we’re customers asking for something like this? Or would replacing the YXZ have been better? It’s growing on me I just feel the KRX nailed it with so many aspects that made this thing having an ugly dump bed really not necessary considering you can fit a 32 in the bed of a KRX, the 850 Wolverine is there for that purpose. I really would just love to see this whole front end on the YXZ, can’t stand the way that machine looks lol thanks for the review guys! 😎🤘🏻
Is it good at the sand dunes?
I was to expecting to get my hands on one by the end of September ( BC interior ) Now been told Jan-May . Darn. Thanks for affirming my decision to buy this , my first side by side . What kind of trailer was used in the beginning ? Any thoughts on enclosed ? I can see the benefit of open with all the mud etc falling off .
Also , it appears that Canada won’t have the model that has the gps unit , remote adjustable shocks and stereo ( the stereo not important to me anyways ) . Why would Yamaha do this ?
I'll never get rid of my enclosed trailer. As far as mud (none here) I leave it for a day, loosen and shovel out the chunks. It's got a sink and toilet, spare parts & tires, tools and a heater if I wanna stay overnight.
@@TheBandit7613 how long is your trailer ? Big enough for multiple quads ? Did you buy it that way or do the work on it yourself ? Sounds pretty sweet. Brand ? Sorry for all the questions , just want to do it right the first time .
I've already decided if i get one i'm cutting the arm bolsters off. First thing i noticed when i test drove one.
The big question, is it better than the Polaris General?
@@markmiller5778 Just got a General dropped off this weekend!
Review the xtr 4 seater next!
Getting a 4-seater soon, just not sure what trim level.
How would you compare it to the General? Which would you buy first?
Sorry, I just seen your answer to that after I asked the question. Thank you for this video! We are torn on what to buy next now, this or the new General.
Awesome. Such a great problem!! We'll report on the General soon so stay tuned!!
