Hey DT, another great video, I love the Rmax, it's probably the SXS I will chose in the future. This new one had some nice upgrades though, the beadlock wheels were a real nice addition, I like the new tire too, it's a great idea to have that dual tire tread, I see that a lot with the off road trucks/jeeps, they also looked to be a nice tread pattern for trail riding. I'm a big Yamaha fan, but I also think Yamaha is the king of coming out with a "new" model, which is basically the old model with a few minor changes or upgrades haha Just look at the Grizzly.... Basically the same machine from 2007 to 2021 lol (and I know they had a few changes but lets be real...) Anyways great tip for people to change the air pressure in the tires, it makes for a much smoother ride, I drop to as low as 3-4lb in the winter on my ATV and then up to around 5lb for the summer here in NB. Thanks for the videos, have a great Christmas !
I was sold the on the RMAX 4 until I showed it to my wife. It reminded her too much of our Teryx we had. I needed to get a 4 seater and ended up purchasing a 21 Pro XP 4 Ultimate and never looked back. Very happy with it after 1700 miles. Once you get the taste of a turbo, you will never go back. It is seat-of-the-pants fun fun fun!
I 100% agree with Yamaha's research showing that people that have sport machines need more space to carry cargo. I can't believe it took them this long to figure that out. My friends and I often go on multi-day trips in the bush, and we all drive things like RMAX, Wolverines, Commanders, and Teryx's. We would rather drive RZR's, Talon's, and YXZ's but there isn't enough room in them to carry our tents, coolers, and other camping gear. Some guys build expensive customized racks for the roof, and for the storage areas in the back to have enough room. I think I may get an RMAX for my next machine because it's a good compromise of sportiness and storage room.
Love these machines. Plenty of power. I barly use all it's power out there on tough trails, steep mountains and huge climbs. I have it in crawl most of the time. It's wonderful. Plenty of cargo in the rmax4 even those say there is not. It carry 4 of us, fishing gear, coolers, tools and water just fine.
I love my Rmax 2 SE and the Sport fills in another small cap in the performance area where some may need it. Not so much here on the east coast of Canada though. That being said there are three things I would love to see on a new release in 2023 or in the accessories offered by Yamaha. # 1 higher doors not so much in the middle section but the back 1/3 to enhance the look and to replace the bolsters. The bolsters look cheep on this machine they could be made of better quality plastic and painted to look more suitable if they intend to keep using them. # 2 nice fender flares being offered, especially in the accessories from Yamaha. #3 racks and storage options for the dump box to make it more user friendly to a wider variety of uses and users. Yamaha is far behind Can-Am and Polaris in this area. Thanks for the outstanding videos and the content. I enjoy watching all you Channel’s content.
I have a Rmax 2 SE and agree with you , I would also like to see a rear box Lid ,we ride lots in winter and a lid would keep snow, mud etc out of the box
i also own the se model and I absolutely agree with you after market options are lacking and the OEM accesories are very expensive but its a little understandable since the model has not been around like the competition has...hopefully the industry will catch up and the offer and demand will bring prices down along with a greater variety of add ons
You're right, Yamaha is far behind in the accessory game. BUT they do seem to be upping their game, so lets hope they can catch up a bit, Can Am and Popo have basically every option you could ever think of.
@@peterpann9619 it already has the highest HP in its class ...not forgetting this is not a full sport sxs but a formidable crawling machine and it keeps it's own in a drag race against any sxs that are not turbo
Nice video. I really like the exterior and interiors of the RMAX and love that the Ultramatic transmission allows you to use high hear more often in slow going terrain. I agree with Yamaha's research that showed space was important. I do week-long UTV trips a few times a year in my machine, and I don't come close to putting 600 pounds in my box, but the space to take gear is important. I'm super envious that you're able to travel to such a nice spot for stuff like this.
Thank you. You explained more about those shocks than anyone I've watched so far. So no rebound adjustment? That's the one thing i wanted to change. Mine does buck a little. Maybe I'll had a few more things in the bed to help hold it down. The ride quality seems great to me. I did set the tires at 12psi. My two biggest complaints are 1 - the seat belt buckle. After about a hours riding the first night i brought it home i switched the belts for race harness. I'm not skinny by any means but size 44 waisted jeans I'm not exactly huge either. That buckle is by far fatter than i am. It took six days for the soreness to leave my right hip. # 2 is the roof hight. The Rmax is absolutely unnecessarily tall. This thing is rubbing every tree in the woods.
I know it’s an odd choice but it came down to this SxS and a Talon R Live Valve for us. So badly wanted the RMax but the Talon just had a better ride and seating. I wish I had room for both!
Wish I could have one. Still driving one of the first 2004 Rhinos, Yamaha makes good products that last. Its never been to a shop, just fluid changes that I do. Still on the same belt I need to look at it.
I really think Yamaha hit it out of the park for design and capability of thier entire R-MAX lineup. After doing my own testing in "real world" conditions , my two complaints are minor but i belive to be valid. The stock OEM tender springs are too soggy and don't allow the full useage of the shocks. There is sooo much more rod travel in those shock bodies that could be used and would also help with ground clerance. There are already aftermarket tender springs out there which fix this, but for 25K CND on the BASE model, please fix your own problem, Yamaha The second is the height of the cage. It's tall. Too tall. At almost 78" it scrapes garage doors and covered trailers everwhere across Canada every day. And it a serious desision factor for many that dont want to chop the cage (not recommended), flatten tires or ratchet strap the suspension down each time they want to store it and don't have an exact 7ft high garage door opening. other than those two items, i think the rmax is a winning platform.
Did you find that the seating position and comfort of the RMax is better than the 2022 XP General Ride Command you reviewed? I have several Yamaha products but no UTV/ATV, though I did own a Grizzly at one point. Still looking for the most comfort. Thx for the review.
What is available in Canada? like the xtr was available in Canada but certain models and certain features weren’t available for Canadians! Like the infotainment wasn’t available,
How would you think this RMAX would perfom in the Kearney/ Halliburton area ? Most vids show it on open dirt trails. Most trails around here are tighter more technical trails.
Its a map licensing issue. I asked them about this. The system is from Magellan I believe and there were some issues with licensing of maps and software. I agree with what your already thinking... just fix the issues and offer it in canada, or, build a better system.
Thanks for the informative video DT 👍 I really don't care for that terrible yellow and gray color ? Why did they ditch the green ? In my opinion they made a terrible decision ? Now I can't find one that I like ! Maybe I'll choose the Polaris general now 🤷🏻♂️
Then they would have to make the machine longer, and I like how the X4 is basically the same size as the x2. I know what you're saying though, It's kind of a double edge sword... I was thinking some hidden compartments like the Can Am (Bed rails) has could work for extra storage.
So I counted 14 Rmax's lined up at this event. What does Yamaha do with this these afterwards? I'm frustrated, I have a deposit with my dealer, but they have no idea when I will get mine.
Heard of guys waiting 7+ months so far this year. Then again my buddy was supposed to get his general in oct. And sold his ranger with a plow that he uses to plow his rural driveway with in northern BC canada. He's still waiting and had to buy an old ford with a plow.
If I had to guess the machines at these events are machines that cosmetics wise wouldn't pass quality control and rather than scrap it they use as a press vehicle. I pretty sure most all automotive manufacturers do this as well.
@@misters4119 they are indeed intended to be driven on a lawn. where do you think people use the dump beds? no trail ride ive ever been on had need of a dumping box. farms have lawns. property owners have lawns. believe me i get the reliability but ive also had to repair my own lawn as well as lawns of others after making a tight turn on grass.
Yamaha stepped on up to take the customers who bought Arctic Cat! Massive respect to you Yamaha for being intelligent enough to see how Textron has DESTROYED ARCTIC CAT! honestly from day 1 when I first saw the all new Rmax 2 1000 I laughed and said well it's good to see "Arctic Cat" finally come back. I used to be 100% all Arctic Cat myself along with my entire family, no blind brand loyalty here, it was because Arctic Cat knew who they were, they loved what they did and knew who their customers were and they actually LISTENED TO US!! Making huge ATVs and Utvs with the most ground clearance, most suspension, most wheel-well clearance to run the biggest tires, engines were detuned at the factory for reliability and we're easily cheaply modded for big power gains yet still bulletproof. The drivetrains were some of the strongest of their day but when they released the 1000 v twin it started to show it's age. Textron then takes over Arctic Cat and rapidly they sucked the blood out of the company, even tried to take credit for the wildcat XX. They've done nothing besides eliminate models and catagories. they've done nothing as far as Arctic Cat always innovating, hell Arctic Cat itself gave us all the best catagories themselves! The 1000 Vtwin. The Mudpro. The Wildcat. The Prowler. Then they reset the 50" wide UTV class with wildcat trail and wildcat sport they were the best. Getting back to Yamaha you were always my 2nd favorite. So I'm happy to see a company as top shelf as you move up to fill the void of the sad loss of Arctic Cat to Textron the city boy company who seems to only be sucking Arctic Cats blood dry

Weight is the biggest fun killer
