I would definitely wait to do anything to the tree it could be in shock from disturbing roots, lots of times come spring they'll bounce back, you can always dig out the dirt and fill it with gravel and mulch
Lojo, we have multiple huge oak trees on our property we've owned for the past ten years but a few years back one of them looked like how yours is looking.. we didn't do anything to it but it bounced back. I hope yours does the same. With all the earth moving that took place around it.. it could've gotten stressed via the disturbance in it root zone but just rememberthat nature always finds a way in being resilient. wishing you all the best.. the new pond looks great!
you can still recover the tree. its smothered, but not completely dead. it has happened on my property several times with oaks and pines. you can also call a local arborist to come out and evaluate things. i have had them out before. very interesting information and educational.
Hey Lojo just a thought is having the feeder where you want fish to bed a good idea bringing predator fish in to feed from feeder while fish trying to breed etc
Awesome content. Question: Why no Crappie? Suggestion: build a few little cabins and rent them out for people to come out and catch and release the Bass, have a few fish fry's with the Bluegill & Redear. Thanks for considering. Peace & Blessings!!!
Love it bro. Well done!! Sorry about the tree, but here is a thought, plant a new one in its place. LOJO family Oak Tree! Your girls will love it and it will be a legacy.
Congrats Lojo the pond is incredible! Turned out great, especially with the boat ramp and dock additions. The island is by far the coolest impromptu idea and hopefully the snakes stay away 🤞🏼Good luck with the Oak! It looks recoverable but if not I see some amazing furniture possibilities. A big ole family dining table with chairs to match?! Live edge presentations are my favorite
I agree... If you plant reed beds to create coves it will also boost insect life too. That'll provide a food source for the bait fish, plus, give them some cover And extra spawning zones. That island needs a lily pad bed to the front of it. Then you can get out on the island and do some frogging.
Yep totally agree with this comment. Maybe they're in shock? But I've had someone come out and give one of my trees a nutrient boost to save it at one time.
There has been too much soil placed around the tree and the roots cannot breathe. I've heard that as little as 6" of soil around an established oak tree can cause it to die.
As a arborist i have to say that a main reason for the oak to be dying is that the earth around the roots is raised, and driving the heavy machinery and compacting the soil, the root canopy is as wide or about 3-4 meters wider than the canopy of the tree. Fertilizer could work and maybe try to flatten out the raised soil around the area that I described, I would give it time to see how it develops over some time, it doesn’t have to be the end of the tree. Hope everything works out and if you get a arborist to assess the tree make sure that he has Isa Arborist credentials at the minimum. Thanks for the amazing content Lojo!
Hell yeah glad to see the backyard pond again can't wait for more. Now you need to try to catch a mono for the pond. Can't wait to see more, keep up the amazing content!!!!!!
Man that’s a lot of bait fish. And that tree is a bummer hopefully it will re catch and grow. And that pond is looking awesome would definitely not mind fishing it and just relaxing and enjoy that fresh air.
The backyard pond is gonna be an Awesome Fishing Hole when it all settles and the all the fish starts spawning . Dang the Oak probably got stressed . But the erosion could be smoothing it and also if it doesn’t have good drainage it could drown. But an Arborist could tell you. Hopefully it won’t be too late to save it.. also the same for the pine tree .. But if it is too late you could get it milled up and build a Pergola or a Gazebo.. Stay safe and Keep’em coming
What’s up Lojo, definitely missed ya, but I understand life happens! I just wanted to give a little bit of helpful advice as a contractor! As soon as all that pressure treated wood is dry on the deck by the pond, you should definitely look into treating it. At least some sort of deck paint to help keep the life of all that beautiful work!
Sorry about the tree... well leave that tall stump and have somebody do a carving like a eagel on top and blue gills around the bottom let you and your family sit there and let the visual get loose love the new pond and love the videos
You could possibly sell the oak lumber and buy a semi mature oak to replace it. They come in with a 20ft tall tree and pull a plug out and plant it place. This truck with 4 big spades one to make the hole and the other to place the tree
Maybe plant a few Chinese windmill palms around the pond. give it a tropical feel. they grow in Atlanta so they might so well in Alabama. Might have to baby them a bit when small but after they get established they can survive single digits to a point and teens and 20's just fine.
The oak tree might come back. You'll know next spring. If by June you don't see green leaves starting to show, you'll want cut it down and replant another oak tree. Your state conservation agency should be able to provide you with a list of tree farms.
Grab you some tree feed spikes that you drive down at the base of the tree and see if it recovers had a pecan tree that did the same thing and they worked bringing it back
Research "tree root collar", etc... anything with tree collar... you can excavate the hole out and wait until next spring to see if it survives, if they all die next year I recommend just re-planting like 3 to 5 of the fastest growing trees in your state at the same spot at the new ground level and build a rooftop pergola for your family for shade near the doc. The cost to excavate trying to save your suffocating trees and the maintenance in hopes of coming back might not be worth it.
Lojo had a idea could you maybe tag some of the fish next time and maybe later tell your kids if they catch one that's tagged you'll give them 20 bucks? just thinking that might make them wanna fish more or maybe you could do some sort of challenge with it? love the videos brother hope your tree is ok!
I would dig it out and then put down erosion netting that grows a natural foliage around you so that it will keep the erosion away. It has seed inside that.
If that oak is truly dead you should absolutely do like Bama did and use as much as possible in the pond and around the pond. Maybe make a sitting around out of a huge chunk of the main thicc parts. Like have a bench cut out of it and just lay it on the ground for a low bench. Root ball obviously goes into the pond.
LOJO, you need smaller pellets for fry that just hatched because they can't eat the bigger pieces, if only gnaw on them until they're swallowed. You want the food to hit 3ft or deeper of water. Just mix it all together in small portions into a bucket for an even mix and you'll end up with biggins in no time! Love the video!
Get neighbor Darell to move that chicken coop to a better location on the property and use it as a shooting house for deer or maybe where it’s at is good enough !! Put a food plot in front
have you considered adding aquatic water lilys to the pond? i know even though its a spring fed pond, aquatic plants are amazing for a healthy fish enviroment. i would even consider boulders in the water in the cove.create a place where crawfish can thrive.
Don’t give up on that tree, it’s a natural reaction to pull nutrients from the limbs when shocked, dig a drainage line so water doesn’t flow into the hole drowning the tree and give the tree the winter to recover…
LOJO bro you need to get your tattoo finished or at least tuched up. Other that that the pond is looking awesome. The island is a great touch. Keep the videos coming bud were all waiting for the next one.
A good taxidermist couldn’t used a crappie mount to do your sunfish. Would’ve taken a little effort to trim it down and glue the fins back on. Don’t settle bro
u should get some pigs for that goat pen.. and have some good pork at the end of season next year... u know flair fixed his chicken dying problem by just getting about 50 of them so u dont notice a few missing... maybe add a few every year.. its all good content.. keeping animas andstuff.
They just dug it out and expanded. It has a dock, boat launch and island now but it's still the same no shade, no wood, no rocks, no Lillie's pond with a feeder now. The bass will cook in the sun same as the last ones did.
I sure missed you guys 😊
Missed you too Lojo!
Looks like you use steroids for your milk substitute in your cereal LOJO
Sad about the oak tree, but the pond looks soo awesome!
Bout damn time LoJo lol good day when u post!
Good to see you man 👊
Make a family picnic table with the oak tree, fix the hole and you and the family go to a nursery and pick out a new one

Have the tree turned into lumber then use it to build something cool where the tree is standing now.
good freaking idea
Plenty of woodworking youtubers you could colab with. John Malecki comes to mind.
Congrats Lojo the pond is incredible! Turned out great, especially with the boat ramp and dock additions. Lojo I recommend adding aquatic plants
And lots of them water clarity
AKA bio filtration

Awesome update on the pond & stocking!!! Sorry to hear about the oak tree. Hopefully it still can be saved!! Stay Safe & God Bless!! 🤠👍
Call an Arborist, Lojo. Maybe they can save the beloved Oak.

Big tip, don't go cheap on the fish food. Most cheap food is fillers and binders and not actually protein and fats

Lojo what a amazing pond you built for yourself the family and friends to enjoy👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
You built a cabin in the woods right. Now build a cabin down by the oak tree with a big front porch for the family to hang out and look over the pond.
Love the backyard pond❤ hope all goes well with you LoJo. God bless you and your family.
Love these pond videos! Start tagging ur big bass to keep up with the growth.
Really enjoyed this whole pond rebuild series
What you do is take the wife and kids to a tree farm and pick out a new tree and then plant it so that it has more meaning to the family
Looks great I think you and your family will have many years of fun with it
Nice work. You have a good team
May God bless you and yours
Really been liking all the pond updates!
Lojo you should build a wood bridge to the island!
Lojo was in the service 😂scared of a little bug 😂joking 👍
Welcome back LOJO! 🎉
Put the bass rep on the left and the brim on the right to look like a big bass chasing a big brim 👍💯

You should build a big platform 12 feet in the air on the island so you can fish and hunt from it. And maybe a water slide.
You could possibly sell the oak lumber and buy a semi mature oak to replace it. They come in with a 20ft tall tree and pull a plug out and plant it place. This truck with 4 big spades one to make the hole and the other to place the tree

Maybe dig it out and built a retaining wall with a bench attached to it with tree in middle if it makes it would be very nice

U are correct u can save them just dig up the root base and let it breathe bro! U can do it 💪
Plant a 6 foot swamp oak right now. Fertilize it and use fungi. It will produce sooner than you think.
I would dig it out and then put down erosion netting that grows a natural foliage around you so that it will keep the erosion away. It has seed inside that.
The pond looking great nice😂the poor tree 🌴
I helped my friend put in a pond in 2017. The pond is 9.75 acres and it has blue gill, redear, smallmouth bass, 50 flathead. Where the pond is in KY
If the tree comes down, you should turn a chunk of it into a big slab desk.
So damn excited lojo upload❤❤❤❤
If the tree is dead, have it turned into lumber and build some benches for around the pond and use the roots for fish structure
Lojo I sure would love to get some use out of chicken coop! Only issue is I live in Texas! But that’s the dream coop I’ve been looking for!
You are going to have to build a gazebo out there at the pond for some shade and place to chill out.
If that oak is truly dead you should absolutely do like Bama did and use as much as possible in the pond and around the pond. Maybe make a sitting around out of a huge chunk of the main thicc parts. If you ever get a chance to come to Australia you gotta try to catch a big Murray cod and get it replica mounted
One Thing......Watch Bama Bass!!! Incredible Home Pond There!! My Last name is Bass. US Vet here floppin......
Dont forget to knock down and crush the nests once you spray them, or they will reuse the nest once it dries out
Brutally cold.....

Hey Lojo, I know you like big fish, there's a lake here in PA with 200lb catfish, would love to see you try your luck with them.
You should only use the word smallest fishing lures
I missed your videos I no you had a hurricane by your place but I'm glad you guys are okay
Shiners are some of best things to fish with in fresh water just seems to always get me bites when I fish with stuff like that
Don’t give up on that tree, it’s a natural reaction to pull nutrients from the limbs when shocked, dig a drainage line so water doesn’t flow into the hole drowning the tree and give the tree the winter to recover…
You can also add mana pro rabbit feed to your fish feeder that’s what I feed my goldfish and bluegill in my pond and I have some butterball bluegills
You need to take your family picture down and have that bass mount chasing that sunfish mount.😂
Hey Lojo, Are you going to add a Big Water Feature to the pound with lights that beautify and Aerated the water?
The 13 pound share lunkers are for the legacy class that they use for breeding. That 12lb would have been a share lunker just in a different class.
LOJO bro you need to get your tattoo finished or at least tuched up. Other that that the pond is looking awesome. The island is a great touch. Keep the videos coming bud were all waiting for the next one.
That's funny that you're using that reel from a challenge
If the tree can't be saved cut it down and make something out of its wood to preserve it. maybe a nice bench by the pond. maybe a little dock.
Lojo you need to do a carp fishing video they’re so much fun to fight
A good taxidermist couldn’t used a crappie mount to do your sunfish. Would’ve taken a little effort to trim it down and glue the fins back on. Don’t settle bro

Good video but what made you do a boat ramp you don't see that much on private ponds and etc
Is there a video that goes over the structure added to the new pond?
They just dug it out and expanded. It has a dock, boat launch and island now but it's still the same no shade, no wood, no rocks, no Lillie's pond with a feeder now. The bass will cook in the sun same as the last ones did.
Need to get a tank in the house and put a couple fish in like bamabass
Root system is as wide or wider than the canopy width.
