I love my GBD-H1000, been using for more than 2 years now, never charged using the cables and still full charge, I dont use much gps and hr, and I sync to third party apps like stridekick and its the best app for me.. I will never upgrade to H2000 if I will need to charge it every 2months.. For me step tracking is enough..

Had one, sold it. Not that I didn't like this watch. However I think function wise the Garmin Instinct is much better than this watch. Not to mention it had better phone/web app which the Casio lacks.
I have a number of G-Shocks and love them all. But my experience with G-Shock software is that long term support is reeeeeeeeeally lacking. My experience with G-Shock is once they come out with a new model (usually around a year or 2 after the previous model came out) they would drop all support for the previous model. So I wouldn't hold my breath on them updating the phone or watch software for too long.

I have been on the fence whether or not to get a decent G Shock watch with the solar & compass functions as I'm in Australia & we have plenty of places to wander off, but getting back can be a trick, hence the compass/solar. The other choice was a dedicated smart watch, like a Garmin, with solar/GPS options, but also all the body monitoring sensors, this watch looks like it ticks all the right boxes, now I just have to justify the cost, oh well, anyway your video really did help so thanks. Oh, I've liked & subscribed too if that helps, cheers.

Thanks for your great videos. I've owned this watch about two months now and your review is spot on. Can you comment more on solar charging? Almost all my actives are outdoors in bright sunlight yet I see no improvement in battery life. I even exposed the watch for hours on end under a bright lamp and still has zero impact on charging the battery. Other forums I've read state the same. Is this also your experience with this watch and or other Casio watches when it comes to solar charging?

G shock rangeman gw 9400 is solar powered, only. The battery stays always full charged. I this one as well, the g shock gbd-h2000 and yes, you are right. This is a WONDERFUL review! I currently own a Protrek PRG-270 and was looked at the Gen 1 GBD and wasn't impressed. I wanted a Moon Phase + Solar Charging + Triple sensor watch for a very long time (only casio) and the last one was the GPRB-1000, which did not have enough stock. I continued to wear my tried and tested, but beaten and bruised protrek. I am an avid cyclist and hiker and I was checking if casio had dropped any new watches and voila! I came across this model and your video was the first I saw. Answered all my queries comprehensively.
I just have one small general query. There are white deposits on my protrek (possibly due to hard water / sweat) and they make it very hard to press the buttons. What would you suggest to clean it?

    • @AHungryHunky
      @AHungryHunky Рік тому

Yeah, it's "good enough" on my Fenix but without a topo map to check it against I wouldn't rely on it unless I had to.
Most days it's fairly accurate, usually within 20 feet or so of my actual elevation, but the other day it had me at 750 some feet, my house is about 915ft above sea level. Today it has me back at my usual range of 910-920ft.
Part of it is probably due to having it in "smart" mode, so it might be reading barometric pressure changes as elevation changes or elevation changes as baro changes.

Does the App synch health tracking data with Apple Health?
Does the App synch activity data with Apple Fitness?
Does the watch support other languages than English?
Does the watch support displaying the date in DD/MM order?

And this new app freezes up loading almost every time. I found if you don't have access to the internet it won't even try to load the homepage for you. It'll still connect but there will be no menu just "casio". The altimeter doesn't use g.p.s. anymore either. I am assuming they uploaded a world altitude map so it doesn't need it? Like they decided to give you a variable depending on what timezone your in. Which is confusing because it will now show in world time when it was corrected. I'm quite lost about it.

Does the watch do auto exercise detection? For example riding a bike.
From step counting, the watch will automatically know that you are riding a bike then records biking data instead of step data? Thanks

Do you know if they are going to update the Casio app for third party integration? I’d love this watch if it synced to Apple Health and or Evidation apps.

The main appeal of this watch resides on its form factor. I want this but with garmin instinct's functionality. Also the phone app sucks.

BUT... the most important point in the GPS navigation I think that passed without comment: is there a map in device or you must use your mobile all the time close to it?

Just got the watch looks really nice, still getting used to the button layout. However the app setup is trash and annoying you need an account to access features. Even when I created an account the app would just hang in sign in. So I won't be using their horrible app...

Most of my training would be mountain bike trails including fast downhill.... forest runs etc.... was for trying this one cos I'm also a g shock fan. But by the sound of it it won't be that accurate with the heart rate thing. Would I be correct thinking this? 🤔. I do other training and probably fantastic for all that, but the biking thing has me scratching my head.
