I've watched a few reviews on the Casio G-Shock GBD H1000 AND BY FAR you're review is the best , thank you
Thanks a bunch!
this is an EXCELLENT review! The comparisons to other devices was very very informative. Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Excellent video! I am happy to see such a unique approach to a fitness watch. I suspect 2020 will be a huge year for fitness and smartwatches!
Excellent review, thank you! I fully agree this is Casio's first attempt also with using GPS after huge Rangeman, so I think even more amazing things are coming for Casio, but time is running as not just watchmakers say and competition is definitely not asleep so Casio might loose some of the momentum.
Excellent review brother. I'm a big G-Shock fan and have checked many reviews of this model and this is by far the most practical and Informative. Cheers!
Glad it help! Thanks!
I've been waiting for your review of this device. Thank you.
Sure thing!
Best review in a long time. Keep it up! :)
Thanks!
Outstanding review. The one I have been waiting for. Thank you!
Glad it helped! Thanks!
Having used the same solar Casio pathfinder from 2007 with no problems this was an easy buy. 13 years and running strong but I dropped it and the open spring dislodged so time for a g shock. Casio products last forever.
Watch just got in today. Thanks brother for the breakdown. Hella helpful. Hope G-Shock takes your advice and makes the proper adjustments.
thank you for the review. you touched on all the right points for us to make a choice.
Glad it helped. Thanks!
Love the review, in-dept and informative but didn't get boring after 5 minutes!
Glad it helped. Thanks!
Really good review explaining all details… convinced me enough to order this watch! Now waiting for delivery and looking forward or start working out with that😎 Thanks!
I just bought this time piece and patiently waiting for it in the mail. KUDOS ON THE GREAT REVIEW! it give me a better sense on what to expect from the watch.
Sure thing! Thanks!
Thats a great review. Thanks Des. I have been really keen on replacing my Stratos with the Stratos 3 and it would be great to have an in depth review on that as well. I can't really find good in depth reviews on that
Thank you very much for reviewing and comparing the app metrics, I find this very helpful. With the new casio coming out wanted to see the move app comparing it to garmin. I'll wait for the new comparison. I can imagine the work you do on the review and wanted to take some of my time to say I appreciate it. Thank you!
Hey mate! I always come to your channel to look at the latest fitness watches' or bands' reviews and somehow I feel like I can trust your opinions on them :). Thanks for the excellent videos and keep up the good work!
Thanks so much!!
Damn that's big. Love g-shock and love fitness watches, but I think the Garmin Fenix is the best bet as far as tough and rugged goes, plus every feature you could ever need.
Excellent review indeed! The indoor cycling aspect really does throw up the problem of the calculation of calories. Casio needs to address this problem urgently. The HR function works just fine for me and compares most favourably with the Heart Strap readings on my Indoor Bike.
Thanks! And agreed!
Compared them side by side at the store, the garmin despite being more "advanced" was harder to program, it felt flimsy and fragile, yes it has a ton more "trekking" stuff, I bought a GShock to ride my adventure bike or get deep in the mountains on my jeep. Casio has never ever let me down in my entire life...the G is a Tank, and its bulky, feels bullet proof, and I know it will outlast any garmin you put against it. And even when they both last up to 16 hours on continuous gps use + hrm, the G Battery can last up to 1 entire year against 50 days on the garmin. My last watch, a Samsun Gearsport was good, but its a true pita to charge it up daily, is not a mobile phone, why should i charge something like that so continuosly? Im in love with the size, the bulletproof feeling and the functions on my G shock, the garmin for me just felt...girly and easy to break
Completely agree with you. Since I bought my G shock, I have enjoyed every second of it 😎
Gshock easy win solar+ 20Bar atm
Best review of this watch I've seen until now. Thanks for posting.
Thanks!!
I was going to buy one but, I will wait it out till they fix up the problems. It's their first watch of this type and the design and functionality is pretty good, proud of them. Also I wish they gave the watch a music feature, nothing too crazy just a play button🤣🤣
Excellent review! I just got my GBD-H1000 the other day and I was having the darndest time figuring out how to start it for a simple bike ride! Thanks for clearing it up!
Glad I could help!
Amazing video, this is the best review of g squad i have seen so far.
Thanks so much!
YES! The review I’ve been waiting for. Already have mine in pre-order.....
Not bad so far but it should get better over time!
Same here! Can’t wait to get it!
Ive gone for the Garmin instinct which I'm guessing is a direct competitor... But as a long time G-Shock fan id love one of these when they get just a little better
Yeah fan here...wondering how Or when Casio catches up
@@Alexiomeister mate not gonna lie it's absolutely epic. Best purchase I've made in years. Bit gutted it doesn't have VO2MAX but it does monitor stress level, and I never thought I'd use that... Best part of the watch. pull the trigger and thank me later
Amazing review! Keep this content and you'll grow big in no time! Subbed!
Thanks!
Excellent review. Great editing and camerawork. Subcribing!
Thanks so much!
wow, a very comprehensive detailed review, didn't imagine I would find something like this as all the other reviews are just unboxing videos. Has the software been updated and improved since your review?
I like the physical appearance and color combination of this watch than any other G shock i have seen so far, Nice video, well explained 👍
Thanks so much!
Best review of this watch I could find, very helpful. Thanks
Glad it helped. Thanks!
Thank you. Best smart watch reviewer. Love the effort, videos and edit are great.
Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for the hard work! I have the same watch and I gained more insights on the indoor training. Thank you!
Sure thing!
Solid review Des. I'm a G-Shock fan - had a Rangeman for few years and it's still my go to for any outdoor/ rugged wear. Also own a Mud-Master but it's just too big for day to day wear. Casio pioneered the tough/survival watch so excited to see where they will take Sports watches. Would be good to see a colour display on future models. There seem to be some shortcomings but for durability it's going to be hard to surpass Casio. And the battery life is 👍🏽
Thanks! Hopefully they will be able to build upon this watch with more features in the future.
What a review. Definitely buying one now. Thanks a lot!
Nice work. I love the look of this watch and appreciate your help with all the features.
Sure thing
In-depth research and knowledge on the G-Shock fitness watch. The execution of design and software development are interesting compared to competition brands. The cult of G-Shock is more appealing than other major fitness brands.
Definitely agree
I really like how in-depth you went into the features of this device!! thank you so much, I just got it and will be doing a Quick Look video in a couple of days, is it ok if I refer to your video for more in-depth information pertaining activity?
thank you so so so much for going into such granular detail with this!
Sure thing!
Great review. Just got this. Excited to get into it
absolutely brilliant review! great job !
Thanks!
My weekend outdoor watch and I would trust my life to this beauty!
Thanks for the review. I was going to press the trigger in this one but will revise my position after this review.
I'll wait until they improve on it. Thanks for saving me a few bucks ... but mostly saving me from any frustrations b/c I'm a cyclist and I was going to use this mostly for my rides. There are other options out there for cyclists but I'm a G-Shock fan so ...
bummer that this one falls short ... I'll be patient.
Thanks again.
I hope they do some updates to it but I haven’t seen anything so far. Shame because it wouldn’t be bad with software updates to enhance it. Thanks!
Thanks for that in depth interview!
Sure thing!
I’m such a big G Shock fan but I’m gonna wait for the next gen G Shock smartwatch. But for now I’m still gonna enjoy my mud masters
got me really curious for a replacement for my already dated Fenix 3 when this thing showed up. nice 1st drop from Casio, but looks like a lot of ground to catch vs Garmin. happy to have moved on to Garmin Instinct. UI much improved, and I suddenly appreciate a correctly sized watch on my wrist
I watch your channel and the way you make this watch sound it seem like a good deal. It arrived today and I can't believe how bad the GBD-H1000 build quality is I was expecting the same build quality as my gwg 1000 mudmaster am I disappointed. The watch feel so light wait it like you have not even got a watch on at all. I was just looking for a heavy more tough quality watch like I am use to from casio I feel this will be my last casio. The review was fantastic any way really enjoy your channel.
So I have been using the watch for a few days so far and I've noticed that when you go into training mode if you are not going to move from a location, it will only count calories based on the accelerometer. When I'm doing strength training the calories barely go up, when I run on a treadmill or do cardio or fast exercises that require arm movement, they start going up at a decent rate. I don't know how accurately it is, but at least it's something.
Hopefully they start improving the software and implementing new stuff
Super thorough. Thanks for taking the time!
Thanks a bunch!!
nice work bro....very well explanation about features and functions
Thanks!
You were born for this bro.
Thanks so much!
Man... this is the G-shock that should have came out before the Garmins had a chance in this market
my Garmin VVA4 sees drops in HR during strength training. I would need to take it off and wipe the sweat off both wrist and watch
I was waiting for this review... Casio needs to catch up !!!
Looks good, but its says being solar powered why the need of cord. I have a few solar gshocks
Because solar charging can take a while and if you want a quicker charge, just use the USB cable. It’s nice that it has both.
Always the best reviews cheers des
Thanks Dusty!
This is a great review, I would also add that you have to also compare the battery life which boast much more stellar times than other smartwatches especially being solar powered.
Yup, amazing battery life out of this watch. Thanks!
Who are the 62 idiots that did not like this review?? - it was incredibly detailed and totally backed by evidence data. Awesome review, well done, great work!
Great review! Thanks very much... I think this watch will be perfect for me. I am not as active as you are. Walking ( and walk around golf courses to watch my son in tournaments, lol ), hiking, indoor running are my main activities. I just want to know my HR the rest of the functions are bonus to me. I had a Rangeman... and I was wishing for a Casio thats got HR function. And this is going to be great for me. Hows the step counter? can you do a quick review on that? Thanks again for all the various comps. Very informative and useful. Pre-order and cant wait.
Nice review, subscribed👏 keep the buzz going on
Thanks!
Thanks for the review. Good looking watch from Casio. I was thinking about buying one but I won't.
Thanks for the video! Apart from the optical heartrate it's functionality is far below a Fenix 1, which was launched at least 7 years ago.
Finally a tough smart watch. Best of all its made by the digital King of watches Casio
Very concise and informative
Thank you
Sure thing. Thanks!
Great review! Exactly what I was looking for from this watch. I love the exterior but guess I'd have to go with Garmin Venu instead, for indoor activities, thanks!
Thanks a bunch! Enjoy the Venu!
@@DesFit Do you think heart rate sensor inaccuracy and the calorie miscalculation can be fixed via future firmware update?
I m planning to buy it. Any suggestion if is it worth buying?
Thank you for your awesome content! Is there going to be a follow up video any time soon? It would be nice to see, whether the watch software has been updated or not as there's not much information on the internet available.
Great review , thanks !
Thanks!
I just purchased this gshock yesterday. Before purchasing, I was comparing GBD H1000 and Germin Instinct Solar. In my opinion, garmin has better function, but I only run, therefore I went for Gshock.
This is such an amazing review I really enjoyed the information on this watch. Looked through a few and yours is by far the best !!! Thank you- subbed
Ps:
Has there been any news about an update to the software that you are aware of? The 5bpm accuracy irregularities got me doubting myself whether or not to buy
No update from what I have seen lately. Thanks for tuning in!
Great video as always
Thanks!
Thank you for this review, very helpful
Sure thing 👍
Think I'm gonna get this watch I'm sure any of the issues you've highlighted will be improved with software updates from casio.
How is software updates, do they enhance their calories calculations and max hr?
I love your review.
Great review! I was looking for an Apple Watch for monitoring daily fitness activity and I found this G-shock today, so I really appreciate it! I will probably stay with the Apple Watch for the moment..
Apple watch fitness is sorely lacking
@Swaggy Toast - The Apple Watch series 4 and 5 have some of the best wrist based heart rate sensors on any wearables. They have lots of sports profiles as well as a really good accelerometer and algorithms that track activities very well. The GPS could be more detailed and the battery life definitely could be better, for sure, but “sorely lacking” isn’t the case.
@@DesFit Let me rephrase Apple watch fitness features are subpar when compared to garmin here's why:
1. while having an arguably better HR sensor the software to view it doesn't really tell you anything. Not only is the heart rate map harder to read it doesn't give you useful CIQ information or things like how much time you spent in each zone
2. Battery life doesn't allow for good sleep tracking unless you remember to charge it before you sleep and when you wake up
3.The different sports profiles don't do much besides change the calorie calculation which is never going to be accurate when based off of pure heart rate anyways the only accurate calorie test is an calorimetry test which can't be done unless you lock a person in an air tight chamber
4. There's no native apps to create workouts the same way Garmin and Suunto have where you can specify break time run time heart rate goals etc
5. For strength you can't count reps unless you use a 3rd party app but in my personal experience it is quite buggy and you might as well just do it on the phone app
6. as you mentioned GPS
7. if you want music during your workouts without a phone you better have itunes or apple music
I tried the apple watch for 3 months after watching your review and DC rainmaker's but have switched back to a Garmin since
Thanks, very great review. Help a lots.
Very welcome
I love the design of the watch and I think they did a great job with the UI considering the limited screen. I'm curious how fast Casio would roll out updates to this and how friendly it would work with third party devices and software in the future.
I would think with in a few months, updates may already be in the works, they know the shorts falls from what the competitors already have
First video of yours i'm seeing. Wildly, impressed. Subscribe.
Thanks!!
thank you - great & informative video. Will you review again after some softwareupdates? would be interesting if the issues you mentioned will be resolved.
Amazing detailed and comprehensive review
Thanks!
Thanks for the information very helpful!
Sure thing!
Nice review! I don´t want it anymore :) Thanks
Agreed with u
Full on review very informative
Excellent review/evaluation of the Casio GBDH1000 (I subed btw). There are generally two ways to deal with "software issues" in a device: wait for a newer updated model of the product to be released OR upgrade the firmware of the existing device. Can the GBD's firmware be upgraded by its owner/user? In our opininion, is the GBD's sensors and software accurate enough to provide useful feedback for people who exercise in small spaces (gym, tennis, basketball, baseball, etc.)?
GREAT REVIEW! I only run so it’s works for me!
Yup, then it should work!
this thing looks fantastic!!!!! i love it!!!
Thank you that u have done good job for compare with other! Thats what Im looking for!!
Glad it helped!
Great video, thanks for sharing. Does this watch tell you lat/long or MGRS? Probably not gonna see that until they add a trail feature which you alluded to but just wondering.
A MESSAGE TO CASIO: this man gave you really good information about your product and its flaws (that can be changed by software updates). Use it to improve your product. Really nice review. Thanks for the work and effort in your reviews Desfit.
They provided the watch for review so they heard ;) Thanks a bunch!
Hopefully they simply allow you to reorganize the widget like screens in the order you want. Notifications are my favorite feature. Seems simple to be able to have that setup as your first screen option rather than clicking through 5 or 6 workout screens everytime. Seems more valuable day to day than health histories in my opinion
Great review. Also any change you can do side by side comparison with Fenix 6 series? Thanks.
Omg I was thinking of buying GARMIN Fenix I watch but thank god GShock released this beast ❤️❤️
Jeet 1911 Mate ,you buy this if you can’t afford Fenix6 Solar...No topo maps on this...I loveCasio, but damn!,Fenix is much superior!!!
@@alin0791 Thanks for the info. I will look into Fenix 6
Dez what workout watch do you use or recommend? Thanks great reviews always
Can you make another OMAD video? Its been 5 years I think it would be really interesting to hear your experience.
Outstanding review!
Thanks!
Thank you for the in-depth review, I’ve gotten one after watching your review.
Recently I’ve noticed that there are to spots of discolouration in the lcd display (on the right side of the screen). Anyone with similar issues?
Excellent review. Thanks.
I would like to buy one and use it in MTB cycling. I hope I can export the GPS/sensors data to the Strava app.
yah good qns. i'm wondering if there's a way for the data from casio to be synced into the garmin app... cos i might alternate between this and my garmin 645m and hence would love if i'm able to sync up the data with either apps.
If strava is important to you get a garmin 530
Great video. How’s the vibration feature compared to an Apple for fro example? Does it vibrate in alarm mode?
Thanks for touching on the other sports! Super helpful!
Thank you so much for this review!
Sure thing!
Hi!, why does the watch show some heart rate reading in the screen even if it's not placed on your wrist? Thanks!
This is the watch I need!
great review!!! thanks!!!!
Sure thing. Thanks!
I just throw away my amazfit for cycling and start to use the gbd h1000, nice review and nice watch!
Thanks!
Thanks for the review
However I have a question , is it recorded the heart rate all three time or just when we run ?
I would like to buy it definitely.
