    I enjoy Peter Finch so much that I watch instructional videos on topics I don’t even need instruction on.

    Peter Finch, you are an absolute joy to listen to. You are a great communicator. Thank you for the insights into the biomechanics of the golf swing. Along with the Brian bros you are by far the best golf UA-camr on the planet.

    Hi Mr Finch, thanks for this session. Recently I was hit by a car and broke my back. Obviously this has impacted my ability to rotate properly in the backswing, and haven’t been able to play golf like I used to.
    Hopefully the tips from this video will help me get some fun in my game again.
    Thanks for swinging quest, keep it up sir.
    (I’m 63 by the way, if that makes any difference. )

    Fantastic. I have been losing distance, only in my 30s but expecting third kid, have had lower back issue and had knee surgeries earlier in life. The short or more compact swing is great for average golfers who can’t practice much. I put a lot of work into lengthening my swing and had good results adding distance but it’s like a battle each year to get back to that form. Easier to focus on improving a shorter swing

    Subbed n liked. I'm a trail leg above knee amputee, I get more consistent contact with my prosthetic planted so I do have any hip rotation. Stuck at 180 yard drives with little to allot of fade! 😂

    Thanks Pete! I hurt my back/hip some time ago and while I went through Physical Therapy I had to shorten my swing (which was frustrating to say the least), but I am back to a more normal fuller swing. I will save this video in case that happens again (and I am a guy so it is likely lol)

    Peter,
    I love your videos. You're easily one of the best instructors on the web.
    I have a concern though. What is that black stuff on the wall behind you? It looks like mold and it's freaking me out. Please assure me that it isn't mold.

Hahaha, anyway, great content, everything you're putting out , I completely understand, no mumbo jumbo, no need for a golf encyclopedia, right to the point.

    Acceleration up through point of contact results in velocity of ball speed. Force = mass X acceleration. Force applied to the ball results in velocity.
    Strength snd forward motion toward the ball is not necessarily a requirement of a shorter or larger backswing.
    Measure force applied to ball or velocity at contact and launch and evaluate the optimal amount of backswing needed to generate that force.

    Pete, I’d love to hear your thoughts on left/right eye dominance. I’m right eye dominant and play right handed. So I sort of lose sight of the ball when I try to turn fully. I’m also of good English stocky stock. (I’m American, but my dad is a born and bred Brummie.)

    hey peter Ive been a long time fan for 10+ years of you and rick. I am 23 year old pro I live at the Greenbrier, the famous golf resort in West Virginia in America. The home of Sam Snead, and we have the LIV Event where Bryson shot 58, I told him how to win when I was hanging with him in the pro-am.
    I would love if you could come up to the Greenbrier this year. We can play on 6+ courses + a par 3 course, and have practice facilities, short game areas, etc.
    Lets go Pete

    Being in my 40’s now and having mobility issues from jumping out of airplanes for the U.S. army, I have definitely been trying the “short” back swing approach. Rushing the downswing is my issue. But when I do it right I’ve actually can get a draw out of it. Thanks for the all the tips and drills you put. Hope you get that 100k soon.

    • @tcofield1967

      Similar with me. 20 years in the Army did my back in. I notice that when I try to turn my hips I sway more than turn and I am then not shifting weight forward. At 56 I have a realistic opinion of my game. The hinge effect thing is something that a Pro taught me a couple of years ago and it has added about 15 yards to my 7 iron. It is less effective with the driver but I don't need to hit from the back tees anyway.

    I have the opposite problem, I have a long Fred Couples style swing with none of the grace or rhythm, at times it gets to John Daly length. I have tried swinging shorter, but I just can’t get the timing to work for me.
    My instructor once said “do a half swing” he filmed it and it was a perfect full swing 😂
    The result was even worse than usual though

    Played with a short swing for years and have gotten worse since extending it (with no lessons). I was able to control the face so much better with a short swing, now my strikes are closer to the heel and I've got an occasional shank.

    The reason why I do a shorter back swing, is because when I do a full swing, clubhead to ball contact gets considerably worse. Having a shorter back swing, helps me get more consistent strikes because there's less to go wrong. That just me though.

    • @alancroft7288
      @alancroft7288 20 днів тому +1

      You have the same swing philosophy as I do. I almost punch all my shots with a 3/4 swing as I find it minimises any mis hits and I can control more variables but compared to bigger hitters, I’m not too far behind on distance.

    • @al1356
      @al1356 20 днів тому +1

      I’m actually trying to shorten my swing for the exact same reason. Get long go wrong!

    • @ob1slam
      @ob1slam 20 днів тому

      @@alancroft7288 Yeah I find if I do a full swing, I struggle to bottom out the club correctly and either thin or fat the ball. Shortening the swing, I've lost some distance, but I'm way more accurate to where I'm aiming. I think it's a confidence thing, too many chunks has got me playing more conservatively 😂
