2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide Review

  • When it comes to liking the cut of one’s jib, no motorcycle owns a profile quite like the Road Glide’s. Not only is the Road Glide unique in Harley-Davidson’s line-up, but also in the realm of cruiserdom. Others emulate the fork-mounted, batwing fairing of Street Glides and Ultras, but the Road Glide’s frame-mounted fairing and its distinctive styling sets it apart from the crowd.
    This striking fairing quality was what made the omission of the Road Glide from Harley’s 2014 lineup so apparent. In an ends-justify-the-means scenario, the yearlong vacation was well-deserved because the Road Glide has returned, endowed with the benefits of Project Rushmore upgrades.

    Street glides are hot but for some reason road glides are just straight up sexy.

    Great review! I watched this while deciding which bike to get - ended up with a '16 Road Glide Ultra. I lucked out because they didn't have a Special in a color I wanted since it's the end of the '16 season, so they offered me a deal I couldn't refuse for the Ultra.

    Good bike to go across the Australian Nullabor Melb to Perth. Did it back in 1972 the otherway on a Suzuki T250R. Seat carved out of granite.

    Like the improvements so far and getting used to the new look. Test ride next time I'm Stateside. ***5/15/16*** Update since last year in 2015 when I posted. Rented one June 2015 for 2 days and 750 miles. What a fun bike. Was going to buy a new 16 but found a good deal on a used 2015 in Nov. Haven't ridden it yet but had the sound system upgraded with a BT 4180 amp and 2 speakers. Can't wait to ride for the short period I'm home.

    After a decade of riding Electra-glides, I'll sure will check out this road glide, when it arrives in Europe. I like that funny fairing and those daymaker headlights. And finnally some decent hardbags that close in a normal way.

    informative review; thanks for creating and posting.
    Funny how so many want to spew hate towards the look of this bike or towards HD in general. Nobody forces anyone to watch this video, and beauty is (and has always been) in the eye of the beholder. If this was not a popular selling bike, Harley would have discontinued it much earlier much like countless car models, and even some whole car brand lines (Plymouth, Mercury, Oldsmobile, Hummer, Saturn, Pontiac). Things that don't sell well, eventually go away. Manufacturing and sales is purely a numbers game: build something that people will pay for... and sell as many as you can! Kudos to HD for bringing it back. I like it and with the new fairing that vents a little air for less buffeting at speed, it should be all the better to tour on.

    Real rdiers like all bikes. I ride dirtkes, street, Japanese, European, it doesn't matter. I'd however; dislike individuals, who buy a Harley and think they are SOA or real world 1%ers. Just ride guys...I own Suzuki gsxr, Ducati Monster and a bagger from kawasaki, I'd get a Harley or a Victory or indian etc...they are all bikes.

    A) The color of the test bike is Black Denim not Vivid Black.
    B) Why the need to even find neutral at a stop light? I've been riding for almost 45 years and you keep your bike in gear at stop lights so that you may, if needed, make emergency maneuvers to avoid any situations that might happen. If you are sitting there in neutral you are a sitting duck.

    That fairing styling looks straight out of the '80s. The rest of the bike looks like your bulk standard Harley, while the fairing looks like an afterthought. In my opinion, it's an odd match of styles.

    "It's shaky at a stop just like you want a Harley to be" at 5:32.....really.. I love the bike but when paying upwards of 20k I want my steed steady as a top! Test rode the Electra and the same thing. I was numb after a 20 minute ride.

    • @angelsuarez17
      @angelsuarez17 8 років тому +1

      4GeeGaming lmao....just put it this way.....if anyone's car were to shake half of what this steed would, youd go back to the dealership and say WTF. HD's response would be "they all shake like that" Too funny. Great bike, great history, but I don't like the excessive vibration...that motors decades old. I'm not saying I'll pass on the purchase but mindful of this factor.

      angel suarez Clearly you've never been in a sports car with a heavy cam. I prefer that vibration depending on the application. It's a Harley. They vibrate. It jiggles my balls and turns my girlfriend on. It's win-win.

    It's fantastic...but realistically albeit the different fairing, it's the literally same exact bike as the street glide - 0 differences that I see. Which I guess is fine, but it'd be nice if there was SOME differences to it. Yeayea, chassis mount vs bar mount fairing - sure, I see that.

  • @JimCouch
    @JimCouch 9 років тому

    I like the headlights and the fairing duct work but it sucks that it is attach to the bike and doesn't turn with the handle bars. On a pitch black night and cornering your light is not on where you're going it's off in the sticks.

    I bought one a few days ago. Everything this guy said here (pretty much) is accurate except a couple of things. Its hard to hear the stereo at about 65. You will hear it, but you will have trouble making the song out. The stero is just ok. The bike is "windy" The manual vents are almost undetectable. The price? Damn!! If you walk out the door for 27k and think that's cool..well. You are a high roller I guess. Lol!

      you mean Polaris the snowmobile maker who makes two of the ultimate poser bikes Victory that could not compete with HD so they spent millions to buy a name, Indian and that has no chance of competing with HD

    2.3 inches of rear travel is pathetic. Two people it's going to be bottomed out. Typical HD all about look and not function. And that front end is fugly.

    That's the ugliest bike I have ever seen. The designers need to get themselves over to Italy and take a lesson from Ducati on design. It is actually physically painful to look at.

      I would take a look in the mirror Stephen this is a very good looking bike - it may not be for your odd taste but this is a
      beautiful bike...

    • @etiennelabeille
      @etiennelabeille 9 років тому

      I guess it's the front end which is bad. The rest is just, well, HD. But that front fairing is just obese. Thats the best word I can find. If Darth Vader got old and fat and had manboobs, this is what he would look like.
      Why design a touring bike that your pillion passenger slides off? That seems perverse. On a perfectly balanced sports bike, yes, you might discourage pillions, but a tourer?

    • @JDB5824RG
      @JDB5824RG 9 років тому +2

      The only man boob here is you ... This bike is aerodynamically more stable than most. If you don't get Harley then stick to your rice grinder. As always the review does not show the options that would present the "Touring" representation of Harley the Roadglide shown is more a touring sporty version not specifically and only touring.
