I traded my 2023 Rf GT auto for a manual 2024 nd3 club soft top, the auto was ok with the paddle shifters but it didn’t feel like a sports car without the manual gearbox, go manual!
@jasondixon9095 yeah there ain’t really a point in arguing it’s just what you enjoy more. You enjoy automatic and I enjoy manual it just comes down to preference
Silver lining for automatic drivers... Don't buy new. But gently used options for half price. I paid 16k for a 2020 rf with 6800 miles and near perfect body condition. With a bargain deal like that I can live without the manual and afford a second practical car to run my errands in
This is a horrendously unequal comparison. Not only does the GT still have the option to be manual so there wasn't much reason that they couldn't both be GT for more equal ground, but that also means the differences mentioned have nothing to do with what transmission is in there. There wasn't even a hint of mention on different driving characteristics which is the entire difference between the two, didn't even mention that the auto can't have the LSD.
I watched long version of this. He goes somewhat in detail but still even fails to compare them properly. He doesn’t even put on S mode. Drives one block and turns back. There are better comparisons out there
MX-5 was the developmental project number. It's always been known internationally by MX-5 (or MX5 in some markets), but also has/has had regional model names like Mazda/Eunos Roadster (in Japan) and Miata (in the USA and Canada). It's even currently listed as the MX-5 Miata on Mazda's US site. Given that this guy's videos appear to be out of Utah, I'd say Miata is just as correct as MX-5.
@TheChenny73 I don't know what to tell you. Mazda themselves still use the name in their Marketing in the US. The official model name in the US is "MX-5 Miata". It's on everything from the Mazda website to advertisements to the Monroney sticker, and it's what's on the registration when you register your car. The word "Miata" may not appear anywhere on the vehicle, but it is part of the model name. Maybe just a friendly reminder that Miata Is Always The Answer
Apparently the benchmark of 2 seat roadsters is the Miata mx5, so I had to try one to see what all the hype was about, I drove a recent 2020 with 40km. With 181hp. It was one of THE WORST cars I ever drove. And I'm extremely picky when it comes to a cars performance. At 6 1, it was way too small, my right knee was always pressed hard on the sideboard, seat did not go back enough, cheap interior, tiny tiny trunk, half of that of the roadster mini, sloppy steering, and rwd did nothing to enhance the drive. My expectations were sky high given how many videos compare the mini roadster and Miata and overwhelmingly people choose the Miata, I'm completely dumbfounded. It is what it is and I know how both cars feel. The roadster mini is comparable to the Porsche and Ferrari I drove, slow speed handling, if the mini roadster had like 400hp and all wheel drive to eliminate torque steer it would be almost virtually super car level.
They build them like the 1990's nissan sentras 😅. Actually, why not just buy an old 1990's sentra or altima and get it painted. Would be a lot cheaper and much more fun since it is a phisical throttle cable going direct to the engine and not a digital pedal going to a laggy computer
Mazda built two cool cars like both of them

Manual any day!!! I’m rocking a 2007 nc1 with the 6 speed
i just bought an auto 07 for 7.5 lol
No mention that the Grand touring has a 17 inch rim and the Sport has a 16 inch rim which gives different acceleration
I love my automatic 2021 RF jet black amazing car pick with you like the car is fun to drive

The price of the "sport" is what made me buy this trim.
Auto... great fun also ❤
Op in S1: "I am a doormat, and not being a doormat is bad"

Id go for the cloth leather seats crack in a long run
I've had both and the manual is as good as any you can get, at any price
I’m always to surprised to see an automatic Miata. Such an odd choice to me
Manual of course
The manual transmission is the proper way to spec any Miata for pure driving engagement.
If you have 2 working arms and 2 working legs, automatic is the wrong choice.
Mazda MX5
Automatic is fine, but real Miatas have a manual
cheaper ones ye
Travis Kelce ,after dating Taylor Swift, drives a Miata.... what does that tell you?
That you have no life and pay attention to celebrity bullshit that has no effect on you?
No way they do automatics! Would take away half the fun I imagine.
Not only that its $500 extra to install compared to the manual.
Automatic is fine. Its made by mazda after all
This was a comparison between the sport and the GT trim level...not the transmission types.
I’m guessing you mean MX-5 as there are no Miata’s in this video.

@ Mazda dropped the name years ago. No where, I repeat no where does it say “Miata” on an MX-5. Drop the Miata

Automatic transmission on a MX-5 is like having a high-end pc to play candy crush
I don’t know why anyone would buy an automatic Miata. The whole point of Miata’s are to be fun, but automatics take away from that

Oh no big guy hurt his knee 😢😢😢
How's weather up there?
@@dust_gale3108 cold as usual
It’s a tiny car so obviously it won’t be spacious but maybe it’s not for you

Mini roadster? wtf are you smoking bro
This car is ugly asf GR86 for the W !!!
Uhh miata's overrated.
It's not and everyone who's owned one will tell you how great they are. Now try and stay in your lane 😂😂😂😂
And so is your comment.
What do you drive lmfao?
Have you driven one? Or are you going based on specs alone?
@TheDeal4412 we're both minors bud. And I'm also based on its design and horsepower. So stfu and play the smart guy
