It's too new to really be a collector car and the market for someone that can actually use it is incredibly small. If you were to race this in a series it would cost far more in maintenance/consumables than $40k.

I had the chance to purchase an Excursion (one of my favorite SUVs of all time) for only 4k just a few months before Covid kicked off. I passed because it was a high mileage gasser (V10 IIRC) & ideally I want the 7.3L diesel. Oh how I regret having passed that up! It's now probably worth at least double what I would've paid.
Glad you passed... The V10 is actually the worst version of the excursion.... They go cheap af, even now, I can pick one up for $7k here in TX.... But good luck getting a deal on the Diesel Excursion, even the 2wd is going for about $48k, and thats been the going price for about 12yrs now
@@kbrownfocus is the V10 really that bad or is it just that the 7.3 is way more desirable? I could go without the turbo diesel if the V10 is at the least reliable, considering its 1/4 the cost.
@@sofloflow I used to be a Ford tech, the V10 had bad reliability, compared to the 7.3, and even the 6.0, but we all know the probs the 6.0 had. Almost every excursion I had come in with the V10 it had to have new heads, because the threads were too shallow, causing the plugs to pop out while driving. But alot of those could probably be fixed by now. The biggest prob with the V10 is mpg, I mean if you don't mind paying a premium filling up all the time, then the 7-10mpg won't bother you. Remember, it's an SUV body on an F250 frame, just remember that when you have to replace ball joints, brakes, suspension and all the other things that come with maintenance
As the proud owner of a 2001 Ford Excursion 7.3 four-wheel-drive I want to know why it doesn’t have its own episode on your channel? Clearly people value them!
There’s a couple of these around my town, they’re all rusted out, barely running and broken. Had one in the shop the other day with 180k on the dash and you would’ve thought this truck had gone 2 million miles
20 thousand euros for a second gen MR2!??!?!?!?!?!?! Just buy a plane ticket to NZ and find a beater for 10,000NZD max. and fix it up and go on holiday.
I know the 7.3 Powerstroke Excursions are desirable, but $100K. You could get a fully loaded 2022 Ford F450 Crew Cab Limited (without any dealership options) and even with taxes (included) it would still be cheaper (only by few hundred dollars, but you get the point).
I love my 7.3 excursion. Even with the lift, oversized tires, bigger injectors/tuner, and massive bumper on the front, I can still (literally) drive a quarter of the way across the country on less than 1 tank of fuel.
Meanwhile my Subaru will go all the way across the country on that same amount of fuel...all I have to do is stop and fill it a few times. Is fuel capacity really an important feature in a vehicle???
@Penguin1290 Yes. The less time spent at a pump is more time spent moving down the road. I drive for a living and work 12 hour shifts. If I'm making a long drive on my days off or during vacation, I want to get to where I'm going with as little time spent around my vehicle as possible. People don't realize how much time is added on to a trip for something as small as stopping for fuel. On another note, you're doing your driving in a more modern lighter vehicle that's designed to get decent fuel economy. I'm literally traveling in a 23 year old 8000lb vehicle that's about as aerodynamic as your refrigerator, all while still averaging in the upper teens/low 20s on fuel economy. This is a task that's difficult for most modern, full sized suvs.
Man that was a fun video, thanks for the good content. I've been smashing my head in watching all the conflict news cuz it's interesting but it's a nice break to see something surprising and have a few laughs
The Excursion is so expensive because there is no other SUV to compete with it. It's basically an F250 with the 8 foot bed, but as an SUV. If you need that kind of truck, you have no other options.
We had one when i was a little kid. We got it with one of those ridiculous push bar/cow catcher things. Was kind of disappointed when we got rid of it, and just recently when we were all together for an occasion we were going on a nostalgia trip talking about how we loved that thing.
Iv had my excursion for 2 years after looking at them for 6 years and as my daily driver i love it. Mind you it doesn’t go threw any hard work at all other then work home and little adventures. Absolutely a beast
My mom had an excursion growing up but we did live in a rural area and we had a family of 6 that truck was so fun for road trips going to relatives houses during holiday seasons.
My dad has a 2001 ford excursion with the diesel engine and it will be with him until the day he dies. I think it has 200,000 miles and all he had to do was a new transmission. It's a beast.
I remember in 2017-ish when I was in the market for a cheap beginner car. I found a very high mile, rattle canned black integra type r for 3k on Craigslist. I opted for a saturn ion redline w/ 134k miles for 2k. In my defense, the saturn was the better choice AT THE TIME 🥲. I think I still have a screenshot on my IPod. I should make that into an NFT 🤣
They were produced from 2000-2006. The first 2 years the 6.0 wasn't even available, and 7.3 production went fairly deep into 03. I worked for Ford at the time. The 6.0, if maintained with the proper parts, and not leaned on with tuning, can be a decent engine. But most people can't resist plugging in a box, and turning up the power.
Donut I just bought my first hot hatch a 2012 Ford fucus in hot hatch red which definitely makes at least 10 extra hp I freaking love it and you guys inspired me to buy it I think I'll keep if forever
We had that type of excursion in my unit in the army. We pulled a trailer with 8 ATVs, 8 guys, fuel, food and equipment, off road in that beast. Really was an impressive truck.
Yes can be impresive towin but if you want an SUV with speed and suspention to handle whoops at 7oMPH Go with FullSizw Bronco qith TTB independent front suspention and build it. More wheel travel than a Raptor and with gears and lockers tou will want with any 4x4 you put even 35" tires on a full size 4x4. Good modern shocks like Fox SwaY Away Or King (my favorite) You can move fast in control over desert trails and sand in comfort and control.not spiling your drink of? like Gatoraid and most anywhere else you could go in a well built 4x4. Permagrin off road every time is hard to beat. Gusset and plate the TTB for strength
The value of something being sold is purely whatever someone will pay for it. It matters more about where you sell it and when. You just need the right person to be there with more money than they have any business having...
For the Ford, it makes sense bc its a 7.3 diesel and an suv, the trucks now have more towing capacity of course but they don't make the diesel suvs anymore except for the duramax escalade now
10:10 okay $100k is really high, but no man it can't be a $10k car :) if you put tires on it you could use it as a tractor dude :) so it has close or more value than $10k even as a junk/scrap. it's collector stuff due to the low miles at that point.
I always remember hearing, "the 7.3 excursion is the beast." Now I think it was people making bad decisions trying to justify it. I will take a 7.3 Godzilla though.
Also, should I sell my 5.0 v8 '14 fx4 and save up for a Ranger Raptor during this inflation? I don't haul anything except ass but I'm 6'4, and I've had a Ranger before...
The v8 triton in the excursion is insanely under powered so the 7.3 is definitely the choice. The new rangers aren't like the 2000s rangers, there more like a f100, so you should fit fine. Also its risky betting on inflation because it could not come down or the whole economy could come down with it.
@@josemanuel5749 This is the best choice really, got 366,000 miles on my v10 4x4 Excursion. 4.30s are a must though, mine has the 3.73 and it will do 70 with a trailer no problem but getting there takes some time.

@@kbrownfocus I hear ya. Appreciate the insight!
Nobody is gonna want that now with gas price's as high as they are lol. Thing would eat half you're pay check in gas
As the proud owner of a 2001 Ford Excursion 7.3 four-wheel-drive I want to know why it doesn’t have its own episode on your channel? Clearly people value them!
I just like seeing everyone applaud when the deal is remotely reasonable
I love this series but it breaks my heart seeing these prices
Those Excursions are very valuable with the 7.3 powerstroke. They will run forever. They also seat 8 people. I would love to have one.

There’s a couple of these around my town, they’re all rusted out, barely running and broken. Had one in the shop the other day with 180k on the dash and you would’ve thought this truck had gone 2 million miles
Donuts videos make my day. And today I needed it. Good work guys thank you.
I see Excursions all the time and I can't get over how big they are. They are beasts though and are pretty cool to me.
In Finland/Europe I've seen 2nd gen mr2's (slightly higher mileage) go for 5-20k euros depending on condition.
In Western Europe all I see are MR2s in a very good condition for 3-5k euro
350Z is stonks tho in Europe. I got mine for 900$ from South Carolina copart auction last year, and they sell for minimum 18-19k Euro here
@@Brian-jv8iy damn on what site do they go for that low?
20 thousand euros for a second gen MR2!??!?!?!?!?!?! Just buy a plane ticket to NZ and find a beater for 10,000NZD max. and fix it up and go on holiday.
@@EyePatchGuy88 the 20k ones are usually super low mileage and cond.
That prelude is just like the one in Samurai Cop, and therefore priceless.
If one of this videos is 10mins long I spend like half an hour repeating their reactions and funny sounds. Love this
Am I the only one who noticed that Nolan was closer to the price than Jerry but jerry got the point 😂

Plus 2003 is one of the last years of the 7.3, and pre-emissions in the US.
Iv had my excursion for 2 years after looking at them for 6 years and as my daily driver i love it. Mind you it doesn’t go threw any hard work at all other then work home and little adventures. Absolutely a beast
0:57 i love how Nolans project* car is used as the example for the junk car.
Finally the 7.3 makes the list. Those are crazy expensive nowadays. I would honestly take that built race car over the integra anyday.

My dad has a 2001 ford excursion with the diesel engine and it will be with him until the day he dies. I think it has 200,000 miles and all he had to do was a new transmission. It's a beast.
Don't be surprised James, youtubers like you have playe a major role in increasing the value of these cars

The reason the excursion sold for so much is because it has a factory 7.3L. Almost all but a few of them were the 6.0 PowerStroke.
2000, 2001, 2002 and even half of 2003 they put in 7.3’s. So 2nd half of 2003, 2004 and 2005 were 6.0’s. So there are more years of the 7.3.
Wrong, plenty of 7.3 Exkys out there
Donut I just bought my first hot hatch a 2012 Ford fucus in hot hatch red which definitely makes at least 10 extra hp I freaking love it and you guys inspired me to buy it I think I'll keep if forever
This episode made me realize that the experts in pawn stars are guessing prices. These guys know their cars and were off.
The value of something being sold is purely whatever someone will pay for it. It matters more about where you sell it and when. You just need the right person to be there with more money than they have any business having...
Love you guys! This is ridiculous to see what cars are selling for!
I love it when all three of y’all make videos together!
For the Ford, it makes sense bc its a 7.3 diesel and an suv, the trucks now have more towing capacity of course but they don't make the diesel suvs anymore except for the duramax escalade now

It's STILL not a 100k car!
The v8 triton in the excursion is insanely under powered so the 7.3 is definitely the choice. The new rangers aren't like the 2000s rangers, there more like a f100, so you should fit fine. Also its risky betting on inflation because it could not come down or the whole economy could come down with it.
@@WillBilly. I mean, if you don't want pay the 7.3 diesel Premium you can always get the V10.

Hey guys, with gas prices getting stupid, can you guys do a list of cheap, and dependable used cars, say mid 90s to mid 00s, that get the best MPG.

As an owner of a black/tan No Boundaries Edition 2002 Ford Excursion Limited 4x4 with the 7.3 diesel that has 200k miles on the clock, I say HELL YEAH!!!, but with reservations. I use it regularly to pull my 24ft enclosed race car trailer to track events, and it's awesome. I could probably sell it for a more money today than I paid for it used more than a decade and 100k miles ago, but if I did, I'd never be able to find anything else like it to replace it. With these going for stupid money these days, I'm starting to worry about it getting stolen or wrecked. My insurance company would poop if I tried to insure it for replacement cost.

Guess it depends on your definition of good. Great reliability. Dog slow. I think the Ford 6.7 is a truly all around great engine.
The lesson (I guess) is to never install performance mods, just maintain and/or restore. Also, horsepower and 4wd/awd is always desirable.
The prelude depending on the generation is a classic to those who like them or care for them, finding it In a manual, and no rust, lowish miles, not ripped apart or beaten on is worth the money, it's the same for civic SI 2000
