That is exactly how businesses in other countries protect their businesses and customers. They even have citiziens with private guards for themselves and children 24/7
@wokejoke2675 it's not really third world if citizens can afford to have their own private security for themselves and their kids. It's crime was rappent and no way to fight back like Mexico cities filled with cartel then that's third world.
The question is: How do we comeback from this, these cops aren't gonna return. They are GONE, we have to hire new officers or else Seattle is done... 😔
Good luck with that after the way they were treated, and in some cases still are being treated! The pay isn't enough to put up with that sort of garbage!
Maybe business's should pay for "private" security. And we as citizens deserve the right to protect ourselves, along with the police who we pay taxes for.
My friend worked private security around SeaTac until he happened to run into a couple tweaker breaking into cars. Long story short after stealing his car, they tried to run him down, but settled for driving by and using the shotgun as a bat and his head as a ball. He lived but lost partial sight in one eye, migraines, nerve damage and PTSD.
its disturbing how just the presence of security or law enforcement draws the criminal element out to protect their turf. even more disturbing is that small towns are being plaqued the same way. local gas stations even public libraries in our dmall town, kendall wa have persons guarding those properties as their turf for whatever criminal intentions are on the menu for the day. many are from az, ca, las vegas etc. they are even in the way if the children using the library sàfely and try to màke coversation with them. its scary knowing the risk of abductiond, sex trafficking, narcotics etc. people from down south near the mexico border are way up here in our small town beside the canadian border

In the interest of transparency, the vast majority of Amazon security personal are unarmed. The most they can do is call SPD and remove disruptive parties from the Amazon campus. The ONLY armed security personal are employed by SP+ in the position of traffic control located at each Amazon building underground parking lot exits and entrances. This is about 2 to 3 personal per building. They leave about 6 or 7pm during the weekday. The average age of those who are armed is likely 40+ or middle aged. Meanwhile all unarmed Amazon security personal are likely under 25 years of age. They are kids. I see this daily as I am a supervisor of a janitorial company that is contracted to service the 100+ Amazon building across downtown Seattle, SLU, and Bellevue. Daily I survey at least 25 Amazon buildings in the Seattle/Bellevue area for my janitorial duties. In the process I see how Amazon security goes about their day. To correct Fox's video, All Amazon buildings have 24/7 unarmed security regardless of executive presence. Rarely, when executives do visit they often have professional private sector security akin to their own secret service. In addition SEIU6 also represents all janitors contracted with Amazon. Fox News, previously operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group to my knowledge, is blowing the amount of Amazon security out of proportion. There is no Amazon security militia. There is merely a large watchful eye for the Amazon campus.
I work private security down here in Texas for over 5 years (am an armed commission SO) and cannot stress how much commercial and residential properties rely on private security companies over local law enforcement. Not knocking the local LE Agencies one bit, but sometimes having your own personal armed guard at your place of business or residence already there ready to respond is a much greater comfort to people rather than having to sit and wait for an LEO to arrive on scene. Not to mention, security officers actually help LEOs a great deal, being able to handle and resolve issues in a number of areas in the private sector helps relieve police to handle more crucial roles in public safety.
If any of these people complaining wanted the police defunded i say let um be robbed, or vandalized. Let the open air drug market boom on there door step. They asked 4 it. Police need more funding and better training aswell as way for them to decompress

Seattle city council see Seattle police levels being at an historic low a good thing. Fewer police mean that criminals have a better chance of succeeding. Since a certain ethnic group are over represented in criminal activity with fewer police this will give that group a better chance of not getting caught and not going to prison.
I still remember the San Diego top dog transplant who screwed the pooch then went on camera to explain he had done it because "People didn't move here to..." Yeah, he didn't last long. So many continue in his forgettable shoes. This mess began when Reagan toss millions of people off of welfare, food stamps and medical with 6 days notice, thus beginning the modern homeless crisis. Which every city turned blind eyes to other than to bulk up the anti loitering laws and such to give cops the ability to arrest, then the trend of authority policing versus respect policing, met the reality of folk with very little to lose and even less hope for better. Those types don't respond to overbearing misuse of authority meekly and have nothing left to lose. But again, ignorance was bliss and when we can't ignore... blame it on those "who should do something" but did ya bother to vote, did ya advocate for change..? Seattle is liberal, but we are conservative in our liberalism. Stop talking and start listening. The people described in THIS REPORT are NOT 'The Homeless'. These people described were; 1. 'The addicted' & 2. 'The mentally challenged' for both of these groups homelessness IS MERELY A SYMPTOM OF THE ACTUAL PROBLEM. Giving them a home will do nothing to help because they need different help that is no longer available. They will continue to lose homes until they get real help, or die. As long as you continue to ignore this truth, you will see no improvement. Continue to label everyone as simply 'homeless' instead of recognize the 3 groups currently identified as homeless to in fact have their own unique issues and by necessity therefore DIFFERENT APPROACHES for each of the types. Or the mass failure to make a dent that is the current norm, yeah that's just gonna really get much worse now that everyone is tryin to 'get back to normal' cause the tippin point has met the boiling point and the soft ones who make the choices but have never seen the reality have no idea how much pressure has beeb builing while the. There are people who want to help this city and the community they love and do this job for the right reasons. It’s just sad that SPD hasn’t streamlined their recruiting process to find and push those individuals through.
Thats every government job in general not just SPD. Process is extremely long and complex than it has to be. To be fair government has staffing issues as well which makes everything slow.

Remember when downtown was clean, some what safe, and you could enjoy the beautiful architecture and views of the sound/mountains? Yea I do to it would be nice to go back to that.
Gonna need the military to clean it back up

Not all armed security companies do this type training, in fact it’s rare
Oh and Seattle gets what it votes for, want change STOP VOTING FOR RADICAL DEMOCRATS! And vote out the current city council, they created this problem with failed policies
They didn't have much training really requirements really, where I live you have to be trained and certified with with more duty weapons and qualify a decent amount higher than law enforcement, hardest part is to shorten up report writing and have to learn to write reports on a napkin and remember to not throw it away it you can help it. Lol Dear Lt. It's me again, bad guy came at me. I stopped bad guy. Do you copy that Lt? Over. Haha
Since they don't get protection from police, maybe they should not pay tax. Or deduct the private security cost from the tax...

Hey he just passed by Holy Smoke in cap hill, the best smoke shop in Seattle. The owner is such a good dude, he often gives people discounts if they are broke and always allows homeless people to chill inside to keep warm or get out of the rain as long as they are respectful. Why is the 22 year old street person Fentanyl gut get treated like same immunity as actual homeless, why do judges let a drug dealer out that will affect hundreds of people and teens with drugs, why are people so adamant about covid deaths but not overdoses, why is it considered compassionate to let people do drugs until they die. @wokejoke2675 it's not really third world if citizens can afford to have their own private security for themselves and their kids. It's crime was rappent and no way to fight back like Mexico cities filled with cartel then that's third world.

Definitely not all of them. Yes I've dealt with some of them, really frustrating
The question is: How do we comeback from this, these cops aren't gonna return. They are GONE, we have to hire new officers or else Seattle is done... 😔
Good luck with that after the way they were treated, and in some cases still are being treated! The pay isn't enough to put up with that sort of garbage!
I love the role player dude “you should probably taze him” lmao

Maybe business's should pay for "private" security. And we as citizens deserve the right to protect ourselves, along with the police who we pay taxes for.
Yeah. These buinesses get subsidized enough, especially Amazon
Seattle makes more money than some states in the south, I would say they’re doing pretty fine for themselves!!!
My friend worked private security around SeaTac until he happened to run into a couple tweaker breaking into cars. Long story short after stealing his car, they tried to run him down, but settled for driving by and using the shotgun as a bat and his head as a ball. He lived but lost partial sight in one eye, migraines, nerve damage and PTSD.
this is what can make a place....livable.....anywhere...
There’s the problem. You have a criminal on the street with a gun but is ok because he have never use it.
This was so cool to watch. I’m in security. And wow I’m impressed with this security officer. Stay safe brother 🫡
its disturbing how just the presence of security or law enforcement draws the criminal element out to protect their turf.
even more disturbing is that small towns are being plaqued the same way. local gas stations even public libraries in our dmall town, kendall wa have persons guarding those properties as their turf for whatever criminal intentions are on the menu for the day. many are from az, ca, las vegas etc. they are even in the way if the children using the library sàfely and try to màke coversation with them. its scary knowing the risk of abductiond, sex trafficking, narcotics etc. people from down south near the mexico border are way up here in our small town beside the canadian border

That's about the dumbest idea ever
Agreed that is stupid cops have weapons brandished all the time. They don't kill 99.9% of those people but they should have their weapons ready. Them displaying a firearm in a situation there wasn't one present makes their intent clear.
How to get shot 101:

How is the business out there in Texas with security? I’m here in Atlanta and it’s very mediocre
If any of these people complaining wanted the police defunded i say let um be robbed, or vandalized. Let the open air drug market boom on there door step. They asked 4 it. Police need more funding and better training aswell as way for them to decompress
For an officer, he failed in informing his security guards, deescalating the situation is the number 1 thing military and officers are trained to do.
lmfao. the military is not trained to de-escalate. the military is trained to kill the enemy. from the soldier's creed: "I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the United States of America in close combat."
Sounds like South Africa.
Keeping our small town safe...we send the transients on to places like Seattle, San Francisco where they will find services and places to stay without being hassled.

If officers are paid more to be private security when they are off duty…..then why would they fight crime while they were on duty? So-weird how actual life works!

I have a hunch we are dealing with "protection rackets"..

Fox 13 did a piece on 118 repeat offenders, the one spotlighted was Dillon Jackman. There is a Jackman associated with U.S. Security Associates. They were sold to the largest security provider in the world.. Bringing in billions of big buck. One stake holder I think is Warburg Pincus...
Maybe go talk to management at Home Depot, one of the places Dillon was stealing from?

My oldest son is a security officer that works downtown Seattle. I pray for him every night he steps out the door to go to work. I make sure to tell him that I love him and to watch his back.
Don't let anyone approach him from the back. Because some ppl have a hatred for security officers as well as the police.
My youngest son was a security officer for Securitas when he worked at the Columbia Center he also worked at the McDonald's on 3rd and pine. When that 9 year old was shot.
He'll come home with all kinds of horror stories. Mostly about the types of ppl he had to deal with.
After McDonald's was shot up he quit.

Seattle city council see Seattle police levels being at an historic low a good thing. Fewer police mean that criminals have a better chance of succeeding. Since a certain ethnic group are over represented in criminal activity with fewer police this will give that group a better chance of not getting caught and not going to prison.

I still remember the San Diego top dog transplant who screwed the pooch then went on camera to explain he had done it because "People didn't move here to..." Yeah, he didn't last long. So many continue in his forgettable shoes. This mess began when Reagan toss millions of people off of welfare, food stamps and medical with 6 days notice, thus beginning the modern homeless crisis. Which every city turned blind eyes to other than to bulk up the anti loitering laws and such to give cops the ability to arrest, then the trend of authority policing versus respect policing, met the reality of folk with very little to lose and even less hope for better. Those types don't respond to overbearing misuse of authority meekly and have nothing left to lose. But again, ignorance was bliss and when we can't ignore... blame it on those "who should do something" but did ya bother to vote, did ya advocate for change..? Seattle is liberal, but we are conservative in our liberalism. Once friendly Seattle is now know for Seattle freeze, everyone speculates and conjectures among the other transplants they meet, the whining posts bout how depressing the constant rebuffs and rejections are to a newcomer to such a gloomy place.... Our police force used to be worthy of respect, hopefully these COVID years have at least forced the blinders off, as well as clearing out the very type of authoritarianism overreach personalities within the force that are the same ones who wouldn't take the VAX but have every right to handcuff you, force u up against a wall and yell in your face from an inch away with spittle flying and why should that be not ok!??! Stop talking and start listening. The people described in THIS REPORT are NOT 'The Homeless'. These people described were;
1. 'The addicted' &
