More and more we are hearing stories of people taking the law into their own hands and though that can go wrong quickly, can you really blame them? The Spotlight takes an in-depth look at vigilante justice, plus what law enforcement leaders say needs to change to improve police response and safety in Washington state.

    So the law applies to lawful citizens recovering their own stolen property 🤔 and the thieves get basically no punishment. Not hard to see why people are seeking justice themselves.

      Not hard to see why crime is on the rise !?

    • @leonardbrinkman4410
      @leonardbrinkman4410 2 роки тому +1

      That's the whole idea behind it man they're just wanting to make sure that people's vehicles and property are not recovered to begin with. But here's the deal it's going to get to the point to where next time your car gets stolen turn your car into a tracking device forget the police tracking it you can track it yourself then when you go find that person who stole your vehicle after you spotted it don't wait for the police because nothing will happen. But I can tell you right now that's exactly what's going to happen you'll be waiting hours and hours and hours on end for the police. That's why people are taking the law into their own hands it's called basically shooting the perpetrator before they even try to steal your stuff. And then after you shoot the person then you call 911 and tell them to pick up their dead criminal. Because this is not right we should be allowing this to happen. Because here in Washington state right now most crimes are now being legalized like drug possession it's now made legal instead of illegal. And shoplifting is also made legal. So basically if somebody walks into a store and you see somebody stealing something don't try to pursue them yourself just let them take what they want and that's it. But when it comes to stealing property out of your home whether 22 caliber pistol do the talking. Because it speaks for you it tells the criminal sorry I've got other plans for you. So epistle would probably explain to the criminal either you get out of this person's home right now or I've got some bullets in me that are really going to be nice enough to do that. But here in Washington state that's exactly what's about to happen here because our governor here has handcuffed law enforcement from doing their job. And that's why you're going to start seeing the rise in vigilanti crimes or vigilating Justice that's going on here. So basically the only way to get your stuff back would be to just let your gun do the talking it'll get rid of the criminal quickly. What about 5 or 10 bullets. And hopefully it will send the criminal message even before he's dead that basically if that person breaks into your home that means leave. And that's exactly what the gun does it tells the criminal to leave if that person does not leave then goodbye Mr criminal you're off this Earth real fast! And that's exactly what vigilante justice will do. Because of right now our law enforcement is being handcuffed from doing their job. No thanks to a governor and some local politicians that know what's going on. What what good is calling our electric officials our electric officials will do nothing the only sit back and let crime run rampant while a criminals are out there getting away with stealing stuff and basically committing other crimes.

    I'm confused. I don't see any vigilante justice. I just see people fortunate enough to be able to defend themselves.
    Update 11/3/22: I see many people have responded, so I want to respond to everyone. I did not see the second part, and my response did not reflect what I intended to say. Here is what I should have said:
    Someone is not a vigilante because they have to defend themselves. That is a general statement that doesn't take into account particular segments of the video. Not being in fear for your life and deliberately killing someone or trying to kill someone is beyond the pale. That example certainly is one of a vigilante that crossed any reasonable or acceptable line. Thanks to those of you who pointed out these things.

      Sheriff told me I had to stand there and watch my neighbor destroy my property. Then they tried to arrest me for stopping the scumbag. "A warrant was issued for Ian Charles Walton, 51, of Otis, on July 25 after he and his neighbor, John French, allegedly got into an argument over where Walton was flying a drone that ended with French stomping on the drone before allegedly being pushed to the ground by Walton.
      According to an arrest warrant filed July 25, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to a home in the 300 block of Stockton Avenue in Otis on June 1 on a complaint from Walton that French broke his hobby drone. As they were traveling to the address, deputies received a second call from French, who told them Walton violently pushed him to the ground after he chased the drone from his home with a net."

    I am SO GLAD I live where I do. We usually 99% of the time don't have to worry about getting into any legal trouble if we are defending ourselves or homes. I personally know the sheriffs in three counties, I have known two of them over 40 years and the other for over 30 years and call each other by our first names. I had a cousin just retired from the state police and another cousin who is a deputy sheriff. Through the years I have known MANY state troopers, even been to their homes, ate with them and consider them friends (Still do). By being around these guys you gain a wealth of knowledge of knowing exactly what you can or can not do and what they are looking for if they are called to investigate an incident.
    One state trooper actually told me (Paraphrasing) if somebody breaks into your home and they are in the inside of your home, then they are fair game and if you blow them away, oh well, they asked for it, because as he said, if they BREAK IN then they are probably not there to have a tea party. Another state trooper told me (Paraphrasing) if he showed up to investigate a shooting where the home owner shot someone INSIDE their home and he heard the home owner say, he was afraid for his life and all those inside the house because he felt their lives were in imminent danger was the two things that was all he had to hear, and chances were very high he would NEVER be charged with anything.
    I do believe that the amount of and quality of law enforcement you receive could depend on where live, BUT MORE importantly is who your local and state politicians are. If your local and state politicians are defunding the police and passing laws that basically handcuff the police from doing their jobs and their judicial system and courts are catering to and tend to be more passive toward the criminals then you might have a HUGE problem where you live. I would venture to say that maybe the police might be a problem in your area, but the people YOU ELECT to your local and state and judicial offices are your BIGGEST problems.

      Yeah, back in 2001, I had returned to Georgia from working in Texas, to find that the man I had reluctantly sold an old truck to a few years before, wanted to sell it , in order to get a larger truck. He had done the repairs that I couldn't afford to make back then. He sold it back to me at a loss, actually. I was happy as a lark to get my old truck back, a four banger with a manual transmission. Then, one night in Paulding County , Georgia, shortly after dealing myself out of a poker game at a friend's house at about 0300 and retiring to a futon, there was a loud ' bang '. I was awakened by my buddy, telling me that my truck had been struck ( it was parked on the curb ), and by the look of it, wiped out. It had been struck by an Atlanta police officer returning home after having worked a 17 hour shift. He had fallen asleep at the wheel. He had been speeding through this neighborhood when he hit my truck. His explanation for speeding was that " I wanted to hurry and get home before I fell asleep ". Yeah. That's overworked. I would have pulled over at a Waffle House and taken a nap in the car if I was that tired.

      He and the other prophets also spoke of a righteous nation that became a wicked nation that would be destroyed by a nation from her north by an all consuming fire. It's more than that. The politicians and media painted targets on their backs and have emboldened everyone to make use of those targets. Now everyone feels it's their right to fight with police. Officers know that the next shit-show they get sent into could be the one that gets them fired, sued, and/or imprisoned because the powers that be will not have their backs when the media sees an opportunity to fan flames and do their thing. Budget cuts reduce staffing so those who are still working are expected to pick up the extra workload. They end up running call to call, but have very little chance to do anything about what is happening. They can take a report and move onto the next call, but that's it. The older officers aren't sticking around. They're taking their earliest out date for retirement. Less senior officers are looking for employment elsewhere in more civilized areas, and young people don't want to enter law enforcement at all. It turns out they have access to television and the internet, and they can see for themselves what awaits if they choose such a career.
