Did you mention movement to climb stairs faster it looked like you had water walk speed going up stairs instead of normal stair speed I assume it has something to do with up left inputs but I didnt hear it explained if that is the case. Another question: does spin speed in aga1 curtain room not save time over normal movement I cant imagine this tas missing free timesave?
stigma of the rose Yes, youre right. When moving up manual stairs, you move up 1 pixel for 2 frames, and then 0 for the 3rd frame, but pressing any up+left/right input also resets the movement cycle, so we can get a constant 1 pixel per frame movement. When moving down, it is 0 pixels, and then 1 pixel for the 2nd and 3rd frame, so it is faster to just hold down. As for the aga 1 room, Spin speed does not save time, typically spin speed doesnt save time unless you go a certain amount of distance, since charging a spin attack and releasing it takes longer than a single dash. Also, something we didnt mention: when you enter the spin speed state, you can't slash your sword at all, and we need to cut open the curtain at the end of the room, so we would have to get out of the spin speed state by initiating a dash for a frame, and then slash. Very good questions though!
salbers99 Honestly, i still dont know LOL, he mentioned it was something fsg said in chat so if you wanna find out, check the twitch vod with chat around when it happened.
I kept a running count of how often every item was switched to by pausing during the run (listed in the order the were first swapped too. Although this was done just casually while watching so I might be off by 1 on an item. Spoilers obviously if you wanted to be surprised. 2 Lamp 3 Mirror 1 Book 3 Bombs 4 Hammer 3 Firerod 1 Ether Medallion 1 Cane of Somaria 1 Quake Medallion 1 Save+Quit (counted as half a pause) 1 Ice rod
You can do randos of this game? I only ever played through lttp once on my phone Emulator. I've been playing a bunch of OoT randos lately so I'd like to give lttp another shot on my wii
M4XD4B0ZZ there are nicer ways to say it but yes. I know english may be hard (I'm no native english speaker myself) but I genuinely didn't understand most of what he said
Wait, wasn't there a missed pause at 2:00:09? It was at 18.5 after Trinexx, went to 19.5 to equip Hammer, and didn't go up when he equipped bombs. So there should be 21.5 pauses total, not 20.5.
Youre right, however, what none of us noticed was that zfg accidentally increased the pause counter at 56:50, which hilariously, we didnt notice, so yes, the proper pause count should be 20.5
To me, Lttp is like almost like cross between Zelda gameplay and the GB Pokémon games visuals (I know Pokémon came after Zelda). The first games I really got into were OoT and Pokémon blue. Cool run!
It's valid that you favor zfg and keeta's styles but there's no need to invent a reason to justify your opinions. I swear, it's okay to just say you didn't like the commentators.
"No major glitches", except the ones you decided to use. "Low pause" except select, which you decided was only half a pause. Nice gameplay; braindead choices.
@@scottseifert743 They literally say the only 'major glitch' they use is dying in the overworld, which is counted as a major glitch in the speedrunning category NMG, but that would be silly/restrictive in this.
It isn't that death abuse is a glitch, it is more as just not allowed in the traditional nmg ruleset, it stems back to the old japanese leaderboards where the total games played counter had to be 0 at the end.
@Sir Garde It's less that we count it as a glitch. It's just that we have two categories, one that allows S+Q (and death abuse) and one that does NOT allow S+Q (and thus disallows death abuse). I should have been more clear that this was a valid NMG S+Q run. That's my fault.
Never understood why saving and quit is so controversial in some 2D zelda speedruns. I've used that "trick" so many times as a kid so i wouldn't backtrack so much.
It was a pleasure to show this off! If you have any questions about the run, ask in reply to this!

Zfg1 is such a good teacher, he even has speakers from other communities on his stream :)
Kaztalek aka Keeta needs to be on every Zelda ZFG commentary so even Jonathan Bad can appreciate these.
Keeta annoyed me at first but now I like that dude. He def knows his shit and can be funny

Next challenge: lowest item changes, so you can't use the fairies.
This is also a valid all cows run.
Every lotad is such a pleasant surprise.
Lttp imo is still one of the best casual Zelda games and the Rando is King
Also nice shoutout to them

these speedrun commentaries are great
Except Michael.. Really decreased the overall quality

Watched the whole thing and really enjoyed it! Great run and commentary.
Favorite part was at 35:10
A pause is a Pause you can't say it's only a half
27:10 I can hear the GDQ audience screaming
Two uploads in one day? Noice.
Off of today's movie night stream!
Last time I was this early, this joke was still relevant.
So never?

Wafl Nice! I didn’t catch that either! Thanks for replying. It goes without saying, but fantastic work on this!
Supperman88 Thanks, I appreciate it!
WHAT! This is awesome!!!! Thank's Wafl!

Whats the point to watch this when we have WQ's ALPHA WR run?
These guys sound so forced; trying so hard to sound cool and funny. Like they are reading from a poorly written script.
Allow me to disagree (not that I laughed at every joke but you don't need to be mean)

@@user-it6nz3rh3z You say that despite the first few seconds of commentary telling you that they do use major glitches.
