    Good stream Cukoo, I have had my model cycles for a week now & i'm blown away by the sound manipulation & the overall hands on experience - makes a refreshing change from using a DAW . I was going to get a Deluge which i love but it was out of my price range, then the Roland mc707 & 101 came along & I was tempted - But i'm glad I waited for the model cycles to land, all good things come to those who wait & this is possibly the best bang for you're money. Great fun, inspiring & a joy to play.

    Instead of your "whoosh bvvvffft pvvvt psssh zzzpppt psshhheww" intros I'd love to see you fall down a flight of stairs holding the gear you are about to review/demo. Like, every time. Full grip upon landing. Make it safe with pillows and loved ones. Regardless, keep up the inspirational work - you catch on to everything so goddamned fast. It's almost criminal when you add the swagger lol but in the end always patient and thoughtful. Dare I say you are the Bob Ross of gizmos? Your intelligent, smooth, soft, patient cadence (and yes gorgeous accent and prefect teeth) have us wanting to fall down the stairs with you whilst grappling the future gear you rip into to record something meaningful for all history upon landing at the bottom with or without batteries or power cables, etc.. "Yeah." Much Love.

    Hello Cuckoo! I watched a few of your videos and have to say your chill vibe and nothing has the potential of sparking off into any sort of disaster kind of attitude is like medicine! I effortlessly key into the attitude no matter the situation on my end, once even frustrating a high strung roommate who's schadenfreude demands a certain misery in his environment, yet here I was all speaking slowly with accented vowels (like the Sounblaster XG6 "Emo" setting on the voice morph) and promoting the word 'dude' to high rotation in my vernacular, and simply refusing to wipe the grin off my face, wirelessly charged by resonance from your totally correct way to exist -- so much more contagious than the shoe pissing I was suffering from unfortunate glass-nearly-empty outlook I actually undermined so nicely with that you-won't-believe-who-I-just-shagged type of perma-grin, (Ren & Stimpy irl!). A truly tense moment, for a second I thought he might be enough of a dick to take a swing but amazingly we both laughed like stoned teenagers instead, which truly blew my mind, I mean, I don't have a single memory of that dude laughing or even smiling, but here we were freakin' hysterical, all from the world-class TRUE Cuckoo Reference Vibe®, padded by perfect sincerity (another signature amazingness!! Should we all consider the Bob Ross Beard perhaps?) I feel the need to underline this comment, sorry if it is bordering on absurdity, it's from the heart, the right attitude is like a tuning fork to get the mind right, or the several pranayama breaths that plugs you into the moment. I was ready to make some music, felt unstoppable. What a luxury community service you offer, consider my example, multiply at least a part of it by your audience.... You are changing the world measurably! To be fair, I was uplifted after buying the Poly Beebo/Digit AND the Hologram Microcosm (to join the Eventide H9 as the absolute dream come true FX reinvention my exploration would soon be lost in, but the heavy uplifting was correctly credited earlier, and the huge neon graffiti reminder in my mind to revisit the process routinely. I subscribed. So my huge gratitude for your profound influence!! I would like to offer an expert repair of your headphones, they will be far better than when you first unboxed and held those b-cups one in each hand, exploring the weight, nodding and grinning while premeditating the customization ergonomics, dismissing the passing desire for a pair of D's (you don't need that, and would argue with them when travelling). I can send you the two machined components you simply bolt together with the included Allan wrench and absurd overkill bolts. I just need some photos with a ruler next to the problem parts, I will send your replacements in a week. Mark.

With the Maq 16/3 it is not posible. here i have to send info for three midi channels,
    but with for example the ZAQ sequencer it works fine.

      mpo echo, everything I’m reading says yes. Not only can you use an external keyboard to midi control a track or trigger each track with the lowest 6 keys on the scale, Cycles can also control other devices. MIDI in, out, and through.
      Can’t wait for mine! Been pouring over the online manual in anticipation.

I can’t seem to find any explainable content. Saving sounds in the pattern is all I’ve ever done as it’s always been easier aha especially with the dn dt and a4. This seems like it’ll be a more simple Approach to listing my own patches. 👍😎

    How do you like the model samples in comparison to this?

    • @Eli_B3000
      @Eli_B3000 4 роки тому +2

      I have both. I like the Samples better as you can add ANY sound to it, even FM types, and you can pitch them up and down. So you can essentially stretch them into weird slower textures or faster percussive instruments, add vocal clips, etc. They do make a good pair though, the workflow is almost exactly the same. The Cycles is fun, but the presets are fairly limited (under 10ish) for most of the sample selections for all the instruments except the synth, for which it has around 200. However, since you can edit each of the engine sounds separate from the presets, there is an "unlimited" number of sounds. I do feel like an eventual update would help the Cycles stretch those sounds, like how the Microfreak update added a new oscillator and other things. They are both easily worth $300 or less, I did buy both used at a decent price, but I'd pay full price for either. Both can work as a drum machine. Again, they are both really versatile and a real joy to use, but the Samples does edge out the Cycles for me because of the unlimited types of sounds you can load.

    • @DarrenDoo
      @DarrenDoo 4 роки тому

      Eli B thats kinda how I felt. I’m looking more into creating rhythm tracks. I can always pick up a Roland Boutique synth if I’m looking at creating synth tracks. The Microfreak is definitely on my radar as well.

    • @0Fdigital
      @0Fdigital 4 роки тому +1

      @@Eli_B3000 The Model:Samples is indeed more versatile due to the sample-based nature, but I've found that the Cycles is a lot quicker if you want to just get started without menu diving. On the Samples, you have to go and find the samples you want to use, while on the Cycles, you just hit the machine button to select from the different engines. That makes a huge difference when starting from scratch (shameless plug: something I've done a couple of times in streams on my channel). That said, I've also played a gig with the Samples, with nothing prepared except for a kit of 6 samples :D

    • @surrealchemist
      @surrealchemist 2 роки тому +1

      @@0Fdigital I was having regrets not buying the samples one, but starting to think its probably for the best because I would end up spending all my time picking samples instead of learning how to program the sequencer and perform with it. I need to get more proficient at understanding rhythm and things like that so I'm going to keep at it and maybe I'll get the Samples or something more advanced down the line.

      This is 7months old so, you may have figured out already--but basically, you can revert back to one of two save states
      Function+pattern reloads to the temp save, which you can set anytime by doing FUNC+wrench button
      Function+save but held down prompts you to reset back to the pattern as is stored in the project memory. You might wanna make sure you have that saved properly first, by opening the project menu (wrench button), navigating to pattern, and then save

    How’s it compared to volca FM? Looks like cycles is more immediate and volca FM has more depth? Seems to me so far can go further with volca which seems crazy good for the money. Have been trying to gauge your excitement levels to compare 😂😅

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  4 роки тому +5

      Lol. Yeah the Volca FM has the same open end DX7 Lay-out. It has stood against time well. It’s a good sound engine. Although it doesn’t sound vintage like the DX7. The Cycles is designed for grooving and has a 1000 more depth in the sequencer, even if the Volca has some quirky spice in the sequencer.

    How would you say it compares to the Digitone for drums, some says it lacks depth, so what's your take ?
    I use a kick preset called CRUNCHY KICK SM and haven't heard something similar from M:C, it's a bit overkill to use DN only for drums but I can't see myself compromising quality just to save 300 bucks, kick drum especially is too important for Techno.

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  4 роки тому +2

      The Digitone definitely has more depth. And for experimental rhythmical creations I think the Digitone is the better option. You can go deeper and crazier with it. But there's something very soothing about the Model:Cycles. And the Kick Drum is really really well tuned here. Not sure if I can make a Kick Drum on the Digitone that sounds like the one on the Model Cycles. The Digitone is polyphonic, but the Chord machine on the Cycles is really wonderful. I think they're different. But for going particularly wild, the Digitone has a lot to offer.
