    I’m glad you’re a talker…thats what I enjoy and how I learn best. You touched on a number of important topics including emerging artists, burnout, etc that would not be communicated if we were just watching you lay down brush strokes. Thanks for your generosity in making these videos.

    I was recovering from having a hip replacement surgery about 5 hours previously and your live podcast helped me escape from it all. As usual I found you so rewarding in insights on the simplest of things as well as some more revealing points in mixing. Watching regularly I find my approach to my work slowly change for the better. I know I will gain so much from all your academy inputs.

    I absolutely love that you "talk too much!" 😂 Since the first video I watched of yours, I told myself that this man is aligned with his soul! Not only does it show in your creativie expressions, but in your verbal expressions as well. You have beautiful perspective.

    Interesting that you mentioned Albert Bierstadt. I went to an art museum in Boca Raton Florida a few years back when I was starting to get interested in painting. There wasn't a single painting I found interesting or that even looked good ( in my opinion ) in the entire place. I found one single painting in the building that I really liked. It was a landscape painting. I looked closer at the information tag and it was painted in the late 1800's by a guy named Albert Bierstadt. Never heard of him or the Hudson river guys at that point in time, but always remembered the name of the one artist that stood out amongst all the others in that museum. I found it funny and a bit sad at the same time that the only piece of art in the building that looked like the artist put time, effort, and skill into making it was from a guy that died over 100 years ago.!

    I watched the replay. Sorry I missed the live. One of the things that most impacted me was that you give your Heavenly Father top billing in your day. I tell you, if Jesus is at your center then everything else works wonderfully! Thank you for that bit. I am an old artist and I have never stopped learning. Even from those that barely started. I put your videos on while I work on my commissioned pieces.

    Brillant, I am in the High Sierras in California doing a number of Plein Air studies.. I have learned so much from you, and grateful to see how you worship Jesus in the way you paint. Learning about how much detail to include in the paintings. It is easy to try and put in to much detail. Do you have a rule on how much detail you include in your paintings and composition . Love my membership in the academy. WIsh you had some more Plein air demos, thanks... Ed

    Am always in awe of your landscape paintings. ❤👌Though I paint in acrylics . Must try my hand at oils soon. Cleaning brushes is what I worry!

    • @RJD1308
      @RJD1308 3 місяці тому

      Cleaning brushes is easy. I first clean the brush in Winsor & Newton water mixable linseed oil then finish with good grease cutting soap and water. Or you could paint with water mixable oil paints, just don't use water as a medium.

    Don't take this wrong....but we have this amazing artist for two hours....and were spending time on what type of brushes he uses!!! Really.........Id much rather hear him talking about painting techniques. You can find that other information from his web site.....but rarely do you get FREE access to a guy of this caliber think about what your asking and see if it can be found easily elsewhere. Also alot of it is also covered in his many other videos on line!!!!!

    question. are you worried about the reflection of the back-most mountain? doesn't seem as it would bast a reflection at that distance and also with the ridge of the far most bank of the pond raised up a bit. wouldn't the reflection of the midground mountains the ones to think about most?
