Turkish ship uses less power and fuel to achieve greater distance and speed. Also the Turkish ship is built to NATO standards whereas Singaporean ship isn't. Add to this the fact that Pakistan and Ukraine have already purchased variants of the Turkish ships with several other countries on a waiting list as well as some countries already well into feasibility studies and some even at the assessment stage for the Turkish ship. The Singaporean ship is no slouch, it is very capable, but for the region Turkey is in, the Turkish is ship is definitely the superior design. One last thing, the Turkish ship outguns the Singaporean ship and it also uses very capable Turkish designed and made weapons. Singapore will have to rely on imports from other nations for parts weapons etc, during times of war, situations such as this will see the Singaporean ship fail in the mid to long term

Not sure why the comparison between these 2 nations as they are miles apart from each other. Singapore this micro island are incapable of attacking turkey and so does the Turkish too despite the Turkish looks strong on paper.
Every nation has its own security needs and depending on the neighboring country or regional hostility. Singapore Navy’s formidable class are far more superiors & capable compared with her neighboring countries .
If Singapore has a big , strong and hostile neighbor country or a bigger nation like Turkey , then Singapore has no problem of upgrading their defense hardware.
The best and most suitable country you should compare is your arch rival Greece’s new fleet the French and Italian’s FREEM frigate, It’s more suitable this way .

Singapore does not use hull mounted sonar, their area of the sea makes hull mounted sonar less effective.
In deep ocean, there is this thing called a thermocline where water in the ocean cools so fast that the density changes. The problem with this in terms of sonar is that sound from one side of the thermocline cannot be heard on the other side, so the sonar scanning space is split into two, one above and one below. The only way a hull mounted sonar can scan below the thermocline is if the ship goes below it and scan, which by then it won't be a ship any more but a submarine.
To counter this, Singapore and many other countries use something called a "towed array", which is basically a sonar system on a cable that you can lower into the water, so they can scan below the thermocline by letting the array sink deeper and if they want to scan above the thermocline, they just pull the cable up a bit.
So it's not that they don't have sonar or use an "inferior version", it's just that they use the type of sonar system that best suits their operating conditions in deep ocean.

@@mns4 Yeah it's something I found very interesting because it shows how a difference in area can cause a difference in equipment. It's like their CIWS (they don't have any), their ship was designed to work in wide open oceans where you can see anything coming at you, any fighting is done far away, so CIWS is less important but the Istanbul is designed for fighting close to shore where a hidden missile launcher can suddenly shoot at you, so it needs CIWS a lot more. This is also why they want "stealth" more, in open ocean, that little bit of radar confusing ability is important when everything is out in the open. Both ships are designed for their environment so you really can't switch them around. An Istanbul in the South China Sea, everyone will be shooting at it since it can be easily seen while a Formidable operating in the Mediterranean is at the risk of "sudden missile up the ass". Both ships really can't be compared properly, especially since the Istanbul is an assault frigate while the Formidable is an escort frigate.

Formidable class is better in weapon. Especially in quantity.
When 16 cell mdas of roketsan gets able to launch hisar missiles in quadruple, Istanbul class will out perform it. Since french vs system has not ability to launch in quadruple
@@yasincsoy4352 Formidable can also do quadruple as well if they wanted to but they won't because that is not the designed role of the ship. The quadruple missiles are self/point defence missiles while the Formidables are designed to protect an area, so uses the bigger missiles. The Istanbuls are designed as independent close range attacking ships while the Formidables are designed as long range missile fighting escorts.
Both have so different roles and area of operations that trying to compare them is not really possible. Ask an Istanbul captain to escort ships and he'll be sweating with his self defence missiles. Ask a Formidable captain to patrol the Mediterranean and he'll be sweating about surprise missile attacks up his ass (no CIWS). One is an attack ship, the other is an escort ship.
