    I have hours upon hours on these. Even went to mechanic school as an instructor. I was one of the only people in my unit that knew how to work on them. They are a heavy 7 tons too....still a rather peppy machine

      Wow, that is super cool! Any time something goes wrong I have to drag out the 50lbs of manuals to try and figure it out. This thing runs great except that the tool hydraulics won't turn on. Perhaps a stuck valve or something that I need to figure out at some point. I have all of the hydraulic tools that came with this one and all are in like new condition. I'm really wanting to use the chain saw because I can't use gas in the summer due to fire restrictions. You have rare skills, my friend!!

      jason allison thank you! I will do that. I suspected it would be the solenoid(s) - either electrical or faulty solenoid.

    Does your float function not work, or is there another reason you didn't use it? If you put the bucket flat on the ground, then push the bucket height control lever all the way forward, it will enter "float" mode. Let's you have more control when grading.

    I have a Case MB 4/94...just remove your backhoe and utilize the rear mount brackets for a Case three point hitch and you will be able to do roads all day long. I am in Nevada and the rock will soon be pulverized from running over it that your driveway will be in fantastic shape!

      If I could only find one of those three point hitches you mention, I'd be a happy guy!! I can't seem to track one down.

    i bought one of these over 2 weeks ago the shipper cant get the job done. keep the mog videos coming and if you could do a video on all the controls and what they do. like the lever behind the cab and the bucket control from the backhoe seat i havent even seen a pic on those. enjoy the ocean looks awesome

    • @briandinse8632
      @briandinse8632  7 років тому

      Wish I could make more videos but I left it behind and am working in another state for a while. I'll get back to it soon but not with enough time to work with it and take videos. Best of luck getting yours and having everything work on it. The more people that own these the better! We can all learn from each other. As far as the levers go, most will be clear once you start pulling on them. The main trick is getting the backhoe boom stowed/locked. That requires a pull to bring it up/back and a push in the opposite direction right at the last moment when the boom is almost vertical to allow it to slam home and lock. First time you do that is a bit freaky. And if no one tells you this operation, you'll be wondering why you can't stow the boom. I understand all Case 580 backhoes are like this.

    I just recently acquired a FLU419, what rpm do you usually run at? I've noticed mine tends to be a little finicky about engaging 2 or 4 wheel drive depending on engine speed.

    • @briandinse8632
      @briandinse8632  7 років тому +1

      hallman244 the 4WD engages via air. If you find engagement depends on rpm, I wonder if you have an air leak and are not building enough pressure at low rpm. There are many folks that can help you track down the issue. I suggest to go to Steel Soldiers and post under the www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?115476-FLU419-SEE-HMMH-HME-Owners-group/ thread. The folks there will weigh in. I recommend that you read through the entire thread. Issues with engaging 4WD is a common one that people experience and overcome. I was lucky to have mine work. To answer the question on what rpm I run at... I don't recall exactly. I believe it idles around 800rpm and runs around at low 2000s. Higher when working hard. I think it is supposed to run at around 2800 and be happy.

      Brian Dinse I am aware of a slight air leak from one of the drains on an air tank. I suspected that might be the issue. Today's project is rebuilding/repairing that drain. Thank you for the quick response and feed back. I've really enjoyed your videos, keep them coming!

    just got the call there picking up tonight and he's sending the operators manual with it that should help if you need any info that's in that let me know I can copy and send you pages from it

      Great that yours is on its way. I've got the ops manual, thanks! BTW, all of the manuals are on-line. You will likely need them if anything is wrong or goes wrong - an invaluable resource for any do-it-yourself-er (as we owners of these things tend to be). Just do a search on "FLU419 manuals".

      Yes! I visit there every few days and have subscribed to the main owners thread there. Lots of good reference docs out there too.
      I am tempted to buy another via auction but the shipping part has me hesitant.
