Imagine seeing the UFC suddenly pop up on TV and deciding to make a phone call trying to get in on it to fight. That in itself is insanely badass.

It's pretty badass because the ufc at the time was considered a shit show, being a MMA fighter was the lowest position ever in society. Joe Rogan himself said that at the beginning he never mentioned his UFC involvement during job interviews because it was detrimental for his career. Being a UFC fighter now and in the 90s were two totally different things.

I remember when it was the tough man competition, a couple of guys I worked with got in on the open tournament when it came to town. They viewed as extra beer money if you won . I remember one making it to a 3rd fight , talked about the experience on Monday back at work. He said " Ever heard of something called a submission fighter ? " 😂

@@easygrin1127 Between the damage he sustained from beating Shamrock then Yoshida only a few months apart, he was never the same fighter after. His record was 15-1 at that point, with the only loss being to Mark Coleman and victory after victory against MMA Hall of Famers.
Granted his record ended up being 20-9-1 means he probably should've hung it up much sooner, and his wrecked body certainly illustrates that. But one thing that is undeniable is he is one of the toughest men to ever set foot in the cage. Never tapped, not once. I don't know how, considering Shamrock wrecked both his legs with heel hooks and kneebars in their fight, but then some men are just made different.

I met Don at a local MMA event and we got to talk for a bit. Mainly about how pissed off he was at an ex that took a huge chunk of his money. @@imjustme110 nak muay is a (Thai) practitioner of Muay Thai it is someone who eats, sleeps, and lives in the style. “Karate shoukoushi Kohinata minoru” is a manga about a karate practitioner who essentially delves into more of an mma style and spent time practicing in Thailand learning how to defend against Muay Thai and learning a few of the fundamentals while there. I think Muay Thai is one of the most spectacular martial arts aside from the almost complete disregard for defense(they can dodge strikes, they can use teep kicks to create distance, you hear about the clinch but you never really see it between two nak Muay with something to prove)
