I'd add also something workings extremely well for me: watch out WHEN you eat carbs: I've cut them when not training. Only - as you said: before, during and after, for recovery. So for me, e.g. breakfast in the morning is NOT meal before the training (when I'm planning working out at 4pm). So as little (or none) carbs. To fuel this I have lunch or a snack before the workout. Big reason for this is: I'm trying to minimise jumps of my glucose level as this is driving my hunger. NB: I'm not diabetic! All my glucose levels are very good. This seems working quite well, slowly loosing my extra 2kgs from the winter without noticeable impact to the performance. Cheers👍

Good grief man. It is all about calories. Dietary fat actually sticks to your ribs. Carbs lose 1/3 of their calories when turned into fat. Protein loses even more. Carbs do not make you fat. Excess calories do.

For my limited anectodal experience, I've cut back significantly on simple carbs and eat mostly complex carbs. Simple carbs/ sugar seemed to leave me feeling hungry more constantly

The starches in whole food carbs help with satiety and feelings of fullness for sure.

That's a delusion . They just taste good. This has been studied. It has been shown that sugar is a distant third to salt and fat in making today's foods super palatable. Are you really so naive to believe that cheeseburgers, fried chicken, pepperoni cheese pizza, and beer consumption is less responsible than fruit loops, chips, and cookies for the huge numbers of fat people in the USA and UK? Sugar consumption has declined significantly in the USA in the last 20 years. Obesity rates have not declined one bit during that time. C'mon, please join the real world.

@@donwinston it's more the sugar hitting all at once and the glycemic cycle that drives the volatile hunger spikes

@@robdrelich8563 No it doesn't. Appetite is not that simple. It is primarily driven by calorie balance. In the short term the physical amount of food in the stomach influences. It insulin levels, and blood sugar levels have little to do with it. That is a myth. Why do you think these new drugs like Ozempic works so well in decreasing appetite. It has nothing to do with the silly notion of "glycemic cycles". These drugs INCREASE insulin levels! They are designed to treat diabetes. FYI - Almost EVERYTHING anti carb/low carb high fat diet advocates say is completely bogus. They are a willfully ignorant, pathologically alienated, anti science cult of twits.

Hello. Is normal in your opinion with age and in cases people cycling at more then 10 years (with + - 800 hours per year average) that with 48/49 years old is better focus on intensity and strenght and less volume? Thanks in advance :)
