The fact that they're so normalized in bollywood at this moment make me want to loose hope in everything. Indians have just become completely indifferent to women's suffering, women's emotions, when they get harrassed/assaulted. People literally don't care. Harsh truth.

Vicarious learning then would not just be for aggressive behaviour but also for their consequences which would overall decrease the likelihood of portraying those behaviours in real time (like in Thappad, when Taapsee's husband slaps her, and she divorces him. The toxic behaviour getting a well deserved consequence. Had she tolerated the slap, the message that "domestic violence is okay" would have been communicated).

I think sex education should be made compulsory to every teenager. Knowledge about this topic will made the person mature enough to think about the consequences. Government needs to take certain strict actions such as by censoring movies, banning adult sites , growing awareness about sex education etc. Teachers and parents should openly talk about these topics and I'm damn sure that if today's teen have knowledge about sex education than it will definitely reduce down the number of r**e cases and harrasments.

This was a really good video. It educated me a lot. You really made me change my perspective of looking at bollywood cinema now. And I also have some other movies too that have normalized sexism and rape culture. For example Badrinath ki Dulhania and Housefull 4. There is a scene in Housefull 4 where Akshay kumar, Ritesth Deshmuk, Kriti Kharbanda and Pooja Hegde are trying to set up Bobby Deol for Kriti so what they plan to do is accuse Bobby of raping Kriti and say she is pregnant and that Bobby should marry her. As if the idea wasn't already disgusting enough the comment made by Kriti crosses all the bars of stupidity. Her exact comment was "main cheek ti rahi chillati rahi main abla hoon abla hoon tabla nahin" like yup that was the exact comment made by her and guess what Bobby believes her and agrees to marry her. This shows that rape culture does not just put a impact on men but also on women making it seem like it's a great idea of accusing a guy of raping her in order to get married or put him in trouble. "Just make it an excuse that a guy was abusing you and gain sympathy" that's the mentality it sets. Ya it may seem like a comedy movie and people might think "kon isse itna seriously lega'' but trust me some day you never know somewhere when a rape case actually takes place the victim might not get the justice he/ she deserves either because being accused of gaining sympathy or a guy's character being bashed despite being innocent. Moreover, When these things are shown or done or when basically the topic of sexism and rape rises people immediately think of women as victims. Now I know that yes, rape cases occur more upon women than men but what about men. Most people or the society basically thinks that its not necessary to give education to boys about these things, its not necessary to ask a boy for consent. Because all boys are same. People might say it's wrong when a guys eve teases a girl but somehow its normal when itsThat's the portrayal bollywood gives to men. Heck it's even shown as comedy in Badrinath ki dulhania when Badri gets harassed by goons. Abuse is abuse it's wrong either ways whether it's done on women or men. And seriously bollywood should really take these things seriously and start bringing change.

Honestly speaking, there was a time when I used to watch Bollywood movies but these certain things I really find odd but there was no such open conversations at that time infact i was also not so mature to give words to those things, and along with this there are other certain things like impractical scenes and gradually I started not watching movies, now I'm 21 and I don't watch movies, except certain movies at certain time like the last which I watch was Rocketry, that was on the advice of one of my teacher, otherwise I don't watch movies, my friends used to call me boring and 'Ajeeb'. But after watching this video now i understand why from a kid to a teen i gradually became uninterested in movies. This was really well explained.

Like which normal person can say that harassing someone is at all morally okay?
