    Good luck with the new job! I work at home so I can wear anything. 😄 I'm afraid to wear anything strong to the office because a friend of mine came into my office once right before the pandemic and she had to run back to hers to get her inhaler because she's so sensitive to fragrance. Scared the hell out of me! I can't remember which one I was wearing, but I think it was a Le Labo. Excellent choices, Claire.

      Ooh! That's not good! My dad has COPD and is very sensitive to fragrance, there's no way I'd wear something strong around him. I sprayed insolence when I last saw him and that caused a big coughing fit... I guess le labo fragrances are quite strong! Thanks for watching 🥰

    I actually wear any perfume at work, whether it’s date/night out/ work/clean perfume, I love them all :) (it also depends on the season, now I’m craving fresher/floral ones. I started to get into niche lately and enjoy testing a lot of different fragrances.) Congratulation to your new job!

      Thank you! ❤️ I was very happy to get the job.
      Yes, I agree, if I'm going to be mostly on my own, for example using a microscope, then I don't consider my choice too much, but if I am meeting people, like on Thursday and Friday this week I went to a big meeting hosted by another organisation, then I will think a little bit deeper about what I choose to wear. 🥰

    Marc Jacob’s was such a natural gardenia scent, just beautiful. I didn’t realise it was discontinued - I suppose Daisy replaced it 🤷🏻‍♀️. I don’t get many compliments on fragrance due to being a chronic under sprayer, but I did with that one.
    Good tip of wearing a fragrance whilst revising and then on the day itself. Thanks Claire and congratulations on your new job xx

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes! I didn't see the love for it when I first got it but now I'm nearly through the bottle I am sad that it is nearly gone. When you compare it with what's around at a similar price point today, there is no comparison. I think you might be right about Daisy. I think MJ was released in what? 2001/2002 and Daisy came out in 2007 so that would make sense.
      Wearing the same fragrance for revising questions and answers really made me feel much more confident. Whether it's placebo or something real, I don't care 🤣 it worked! Thanks for the congratulations! 🥰

      @@dr.claire.perfume I remember buying it blind because I had read that Claudia Winkleman (who I love) wore it at the time 😂
      and I wasn’t disappointed.
      Actually I can’t be the only person who does that? Idk 🤷🏻‍♀️, I once bought a Floris soap - Rose Geranium, because apart from Chanel no 5, Marilyn Monroe supposedly wore the now discontinued scent. Anyway, I’m going off on a tangent now 😄.
      Scent does bring back memories and feelings, so there must be something in wearing it whilst revising or working. I’m going to try it and also recommend it to my daughter. Thank you x

      @@paulauk9965 I think there are even certain types of scent that are supposed to be more effective in promoting recall, that's probably something to look into!
      Oh wow, I didn't realise that Marc Jacobs had celebrity fans. I know it was the fragrance that Charlotte in Lost in Translation has on her dressing table at the hotel, so I guess it's famous for that too and actually that's why I sought it out, because I was curious 🤷‍♀️

We already have a cologne guy at work, arguably two, who spray at work in their offices, leaving trails in our extremely neutral air space (heavy climate control 19 floors up in a 50 year old building! ). Well first up a big huge massive well done with the job. You do deserve it. Oh I'd love to offend people at work 😅.
    A Drop is a beautiful fragrance and you're right it does have that nice soft creaminess. It's a gorgeous one isn't it. A bit of lilac is always good. Wow and you're such an influencer 😉.
    Gris Dior, yes what an amazing one. It really works for all occasions and is a fab work one. I think you're right it defo is one thst everyone would love.
    The Ralph L sounds alright. I'm sure you always get compliments. Tuberose is always a winner.
    The Bucheron sounds very pleasant and easy. The Pharell one is really unique. It isn't always the easiest but yes it's definitely one that will make you stand out.
    Mabelles Lunar Dust is really blooming gorgeous. It is ideal for work and more subtle chilled situations isn't it.
    You're a big Miller Harris fan. Frothy milk and saffron sounds pleasant 😊.
    Dandy is really quite nice isn't it. Very easy going too. The leather is lovely. Very orangey on me.
    Alluring Fig is one of the few fig fragrances I like. I like the greeness and it's really rather fresh and likable.
    Well done to the MJ fragrance but clearly it was all you in the interview. How could u not get the job.
    I was always a Boss wearer at work.

      Lol I bet you would be well behaved unless provoked...
      Drop is actually quite strong, but it works for work I think 😊 gris is really likeable for sure.
      I really don't understand what people seem to love about the Ralph Lauren 😂 but yes, so many compliments that it made me reconsider my judgement on it.
      Did you see lunar dust etc is on Fragrantica?! I reviewed both of them 😊
      I really worried the saffron would bother me but no, it's all good, phew!
      I've been loving Dandy! So different to the rest of my collection! I'm sure the vanilla in my Alluring Fig has amped up significantly since I first got it, it's almost more vanilla than fig now 🤷‍♀️
      That Marc Jacobs is nearly gone, it's nice and easy but it's not worth the £100s people charge on eBay now. I think it's ridiculous what people are charging for it!

It's meant to smell like you're flipping through one of their Vogue magazines and I believe, if I'm remembering correctly, that is has a newspaper or magazine note. Something like that. I love it very much. It's a bit hard to find now and around $100 - $150 when found but I got my bottle years ago for around $50 I believe. It's a striking red colored bottle. My favourite private joke is imagining wearing Francesca Bianchi's 'Under My Skin' to a job interview. For you, or those who have never had the pleasure, let me describe it for you. It's the most excruciatingly obvious, ahem, 'post coital' smell you can imagine 😅. Picture what Shalimar might smell like after you've gotten the leg over mid summer (a particularly gymnastic and creative session). There is no way I could inhale this fragrance on a total stranger whilst looking them in the eye and NOT feel great embarrassment creep up on me. I couldn't keep a straight face, that's for sure. It's THAT obvious as a fragrance. Bianchi is the go-to house for fragrances that celebrate post-coital afterglow. I laugh to imagine a scenario where I'm wearing it to a job interview and deliberately looking my interviewer in the eye the whole time because I KNOW what they'd be thinking despite their fancy business talk. I also laugh imagining someone wearing it to Tesco at 2pm in the afternoon. To an afternoon tea at church, and so on. There are so many inappropriate fragrances to wear to work. Thanks Claire for your charming, inspiring recommendations here. Glad to have found a new channel here on 'frag com', introducing me to new things and keeping me out of the gutter, fresh as a daisy and pure as the driven snow. For now, thanks to your good influence, the office remains a 'safe space' free from my provocative experiments with molecular compounds and other olfactory transgressions. 👍 😆😇

      @@dr.claire.perfume There's one with 'Sea' in the name which is awful, avoid. I'm an evil imp, only really wanting you to conduct many varied social experiments with 'Under My Skin' 😂😆. The Dark Side is another like it or hate it offering from Bianchi. For a very rare and specific mood, it's another one that will work (ie; when you want to feel aggressively challenged or indeed, DO the aggressive challenging). In other words, it's not for running into Waitrose to grab a bunch of new season asparagus and a bottle of elderflower cordial, ahem. I think Bianchi is a walking 'dare', a one-stop shop for inappropriately intimate, intensely awkward olfactory experiments. She's clearly into naughty things (I keep seeing Halston's perfumer serenely sitting with him then suddenly burying her nose into an item of inspiration which he'd bought to their meeting: his lover's used jockstrap). I have a special place in my heart for such a perfumer as Bianchi, despite only having one full bottle of her fragrances (I stopped buying samples last year in order to start scrutinising and buying full bottles of the samples I liked-- I too have a spreadsheet to study🤓 🕵‍♀). I too need to experience more from Bianchi. Maybe a really smart, articulate and creatively expressed review of her output is what I need to look for online too...🤓 PS= I love the idea of Imaginary Authors and there's a definite place for the brand in the market, only...something goes wrong for me when it comes to their actual products. Which is a shame as their concept and marketing execution is sensational. I'd say the exact same thing about Zoologist.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  4 місяці тому +1

      Yes I agree with what I've tried from Zoologist. Nothing has grabbed me so far, but I think I've only tried three. Imaginary authors are intriguing but again haven't made me jump up and buy either. 🤷‍♀️

      @@dr.claire.perfume Zoologist as an entity, (their marketing in its entirety) ought to be studied as part of psychology degrees all around the world. Look how astonishingly easy it is to control and trick people simply through the power of suggestion and other very clever creative things. My personal take is this: If the concept of the house and its charming packaging were never ever in existence EVER, and you just had plain bottles containing Zoologist fragrances with names that had, again, NOTHING to do with the concept itself then I ask you: how would these fragrances be received by people? How would they stand up? People have been so hypnotised by the marketing that even thinking clearly enough to answer the question I asked would be difficult for many. There is no way that most of Zoologist fragrances would be liked if they were proposed as options free from gimmick and suggestive themes. I've never read anybody express a similar assessment online but I'll stand by my conviction here. I mean no personal offense to anybody who genuinely loves the fragrances by the brand of course. I just think it's worthwhile for people to say what they mean, especially if they feel intimidated by their peer group and fear a goofy online skirmish as a result of going against trendy, majority opinion but say their piece anyway.

    I think telling people they could get away with a scent in a fragrance free workplace is kinda messed up. I love wearing fragrance, but I’m also at the doctor at least once a week… theres always someone wearing something way too loud that exacerbates migraines and breathing symptoms , it’s really unfortunate, even doctors are wearing strong fragrances, it’s not cool. There may be a really good reason a workplace has that rule .
    I wish more people would just spray 2 sprays , not 20 + like a lot of people seem to think is normal now.. things like gris Dior are incredibly strong imo.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes I agree if it's a hard rule. But I think it depends on the context, for sure healthcare settings, if they are fragrance free, there often going to be a reason, but in a normal office, sometimes the official rule is simply an easier way of putting "don't wear something loud" that is more enforceable for case of issues with people wearing something obnoxious as there is zero debate. I think you can be considerate and still enjoy your own fragrance at work. I generally spray my perfume under clothing layers, so most of the time, unless I deliberately choose it, which I do sometimes, no one can smell it but me, especially in a huge lab.
      I used to work with someone who wore a really strong fragrance to the office and we just talked to her and she stopped. There were no official rules on fragrance wearing, but she was fine with it.
      I suggested Gris Dior as a confidence boosting fragrance, much like Coco mademoiselle is, I'd never sit in an office and wear that one, it's too loud, but I think Gris Dior is not that potent with one or two sprays, it's something that I wear when I am giving a lecture or a seminar. ☺️ Thanks for watching 🥰

    Hey do you know I’ve been looking into Place Vendome by Boucheron past week? I own Elie saab le Parfum so I Guess if they are that similarI should not blind buy it? What do you think? Would that be redundant?

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  6 місяців тому

      Despite the notes being similar, I don't think they have the same feel at all. Place Vendome is more of a skin scent and is much lighter and airier overall. The honey is sweetness rather than anything very definite. The musk is also prominent in Place Vendome. I do not think it's redundant but just warn you that if you like strong fragrances, Place Vendome is not strong! ☺️

    Do you think Drop smells similar to Diorissimo?

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  5 місяців тому

      I haven't tried Diorissimo, but I thought that was LOTV and quite green, it's also quite an old fragrance, whereas drop feels very modern, so I would assume that they aren't similar, but I clearly don't know as I haven't tried it! 😂

      Yeah I can totally understand that. Ambroxan gets to me in so many perfumes, but it seems like the ones that really bother me with ambroxan are PDM and BDK. 🤷‍♀️

      Yes, I didn't appreciate it when I first got it a few years ago, but now I'm nearly through the half bottle I bought, I see how good it really is. It's long lasting and just so different to other things I have. 🥰

    There is NOTHING affordable about some of the fragrances you mention in this video-which are well above £100.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  4 місяці тому +3

      I have never paid over £45 for any fragrance as I mostly buy fragrances secondhand. I guess it depends on your interpretation of affordable, but there are ways of obtaining fragrances more cheaply than retail and I would wholeheartedly recommend secondhand. My Gris Dior cost £40 including delivery for example. I think you can find some really stunning and affordable fragrances that way. Thanks for watching 🥰

    I work from home but still like to wear lighter, less obtrusive fragrances while I work. I have been absolutely loving 4711 Acqua Colonia Pomelo & Sea Salt 🩷

      Gris Dior is worth trying, it's a fab choice of you like suede. 😊
