Hey guys, I have spent the day watching your videos. I sold my 40’ trawler 3 years ago and now live in the smoky mountains North Carolina. I have really enjoyed watching your adventure on your ranger. I have to say it has kindled a spark in my love of cruising. I have two cats that have been from fixed home to boat life to motorhome back to fixed home here in the mountains. I don’t think they would want to give up their home here so I guess I will be land locked for now. Will continue watching your videos and maybe one day I will be back on the water. Richard, we are happy to hear that our videos have prompted good memories for you . There comes a time when life on the water no longer is feasible but for now we will do it as long as we are able. Thank you so much! Yes, Washington state would be a long haul! We have talked about exploring the west coast but the trip out there is a bit daunting.
Love these videos as I’m laying the ground work for an early retirement. I have this idea that with the R25 being trailerable, that you could have it hauled from the PNW to Florida and vice versa if you wanted. Enjoy both worlds at the optimum times of the year. Is this a feasible idea or are the logistics far more complicated? In my mind, keeping with the R25 or R27 is a game changer in the sense that you can load and drive where ever you want, including home to store/work on it when needed, eliminating the need for paying storage at a marina.
Enjoy your videos and seeing the places you're taking the R-25. The Bahamas a beautiful and offer rich content, but I love the day-to-day living aboard a boat content just as much. There's something magical in living life just outside the norm, and figuring things out together as you move through life. Appreciate your willingness to share the journey.

I found your channel because I'm interested in Ranger Tugs- boy you sure have shown how capable a small boat can be! Between that Canadian lake and now the extensive Bahamas cruise it's been quite a ride.
As far as I know there are only two ranger Tug channels- you and the other guy should do a video together- now THAT would be interesting!
We also did a lot of watching before deciding on the Ranger Tug. Seeing it in real life situations is different than at a boat show. We also hope to encourage people to go out and enjoy nature and have adventures wherever they are - It would be interesting to meet the other Ranger people, maybe some day!
The quality of the photography and narration is outstanding on your videos. Having done a conversion to Lithium on our R-23, it’s quite involved and expensive, but I love it. 400Ah and I can use all of it. Love your videos!
Great job, we decided to stick with just a couple of large AGM‘s for now. We really don’t want to lose our storage space because we are gone so long and in such isolated areas. But we would love to do what you have described. Thanks

Beautiful pics of the birds. Have you considered gearing up the dingy to run the genny in and dropping it farther off the stern? As long as your cable sleeve is not compromised and your two ends are secured, of course.
That's a good idea. But I worry about the cable & just lifting that thing into the dingy would be a feat. Julia would like to put me in the dingy with a long line...

You are great. Want to the do the Loop when I retire in a few years. Looking to see if wife and I could survive on a smaller boat that doesn't need a lot of work or larger than needs some. Break downs suck! We've pretty much been apart for last 2 years because her mom is needing 24/7 supervision . We get occasional weekend, a vacation or two and try to lunch every Friday. She'll be home for 4 days this Labor Day weekend. Living together for a year on a small boat might not be the best idea
John , this is Julia ...I know what you are going through. Michael experienced something like this when my parents were aging. It is a difficult time , but your wife sounds like a wonderful person. These chapters can be as hard on the individual as they are on the couple . We have no problem living on the boat full time for 3 months but after that we feel a break is good so that we each can have more space and connect with other friends and family. Wishing you both all the best.
I really like the Modifications for the V berth area. I might have to consider doing the same for my R25 OB. 👍🏼😎

My wife and I love seeing how you two live aboard this ranger tug, we can’t wait to get ours for northern Ontario summers. Have you found the head to be sufficient in size for showering and longer trips?
Colin, we don't typically use our head for showering . If we have neighbours, we hang our canvas on the back deck for privacy and shower on the back deck . This keeps everything dry. Thanks for watching and best of luck on your own adventures. You will love it!

Neat to see you using a Honda 2200 generator…seems like a great option….I ‘m assuming you considered a built in generator but went this route instead for your own reasons. I assume you don’t have a/c…so is it comfortable enough (cool) to sleep at night?

I did upgrade the batteries to two AGms. But the generator is still needed.
Wonderful portrayal of the relaxed pace you guys have aboard. Amazing scenery too. Do you guys prefer the calmer weather and higher humidity of Summer, or the cooler but more volatile and windy weather of Winter or early Spring in the Bahamas?

I love the videos. My wife and I are debating between a R25, R27,and Cutwater 28. Do you carry extra fuel while underway? The R27 is the early favorite but would require me to upgrade my tow vehicle. Your videos give us great insight to help us decide. On the fishing side, i have had great success in the Bahamas and like waters with a shortened sabiki rig. Also rattle type minos swim baits.
Thanks for the fishing tips. Are you using the Sobecki rigs for bait or using it to catch bigger fish? Jesus. The R 25 holds 99 gallons of fuel. So far not needed any more than that. If you have watched some of our other videos, you can see we carry 3 gallon fuel cans for the generator and the dinghy, but I have not needed it for the main ship.
@@expeditionseanest thanks for the quick reply. I have used them to catch bonefish almost using them as a fly. I came about it accidentally when i made it to a flat and realized my tackle was missing (either son or wife safer to blame my son). They hammered the rig. I believe it didn’t spook them as much. I caught a few lane snapper with them also but not enough to say it “worked”. We are walking through a R25 and Cutwater 24 in 2 weeks, Both with outboards. The price point of the CW has me intrigued.

Bitter Guana Cay and surrounding areas are not in the Land and Sea Park. If you look at your charts there is a defined red line typically that will mark the boundaries.

What made you decide on a 25 foot trailerable trawler than a bigger boat with inboards? You can get an older bigger boat for half the price. I'm just curious as to what your deciding factors were.
The deciding factor was that the smaller boat was easy to trailer . No marina or storage fees when we are not on the water. We tailer this boat from north to way down south. Also, the outboard allows us to have more storage space .

Do you have a air conditioner? if so do you run it all night? Do you even need one?
We do have A/C . Marinas in Florida and Bahamas don't usually have much air movement and can be stifling . That is typically the only time we use our A/C. Sometimes we will use it briefly to cool the cabin , but out at anchor there is usually a nice breeze. The other issue is the battery drain of the A/C while out at anchor . Not really worth it.
