  • This guy was a student at a flight school in Florida, he came from India to eventually become a pilot. He became angry after school instructors would not allow him to take a solo flight. He damaged 10+ planes intentionally so that nobody would be able to fly them, was charged with Felony CRIMINAL MISCHIEF.
He was sentenced to 266 days in jail after pleading NOLO-CONTENDERE. I have not been able to find anything out about his visa status and if that's been revoked.

he got sentenced to 266 days in jail. I checked the court documents again and did not see anything regarding restitution on his sentencing doc. He had to submit a DNA sample and do the 266 days in jail. (verified with the county jail, He was released on July 20th after spending 7 months there. Seems like he got a little time off for good behavior.)

I am a pilot undergoing professional flight training in Florida, I actually have a checkride scheduled next week (from this posting). I remember my first solo, all pilots do, I was nervous, and excited all rolled into one.
    Why?
When you are flying solo its entirely up to you to make all of the correct decisions, and its not just about your own life, you are responsible for other pilots lives near you and the people on the ground in your area of influence. It's a ton of responsibility even for a little single engine prop plane.
Every student and instructor I have ever talked to has complained about weather, mechanical, or just life in general messing up their flight training causing pushed back milestones. That's aviation for you, its just like that. The way this guy handled it showed that he should not be allowed to become a pilot in any capacity. If he is here on a student visa, that visa should be revoked.

He was found guilty of FELONY criminal mischief with a sentence of over 1 year of imprisonment which makes him eligible for visa revocation and deportation as well as that 20 year ban on re-entry to the United States, even if he is registered as a permanent resident.

I worked as a flight instructor in Florida with one of the international flight schools. Some students are so entitled. They come from very rich families, and they are spoiled. They can not tolerate someone to say "No.". This guy should never get close to any airplane. However, the flight schools he mentioned have a really bad reputation. @@alphavader951 Considering the guy freely confessed to it…… i personally took affront to the cop freely telling this guy he “seriously doubted” he would go to jail. This guy got less than a year for this. People have gotten more for DUIs. The only charge was “criminal mischief” one count at felony level. Legally this guy was good for ten counts of “deliberately tampering with and or disabling an aircraft” at he federal level, and ten counts of felony destruction of property.
The prosecutor and judge sent a message that abusing our aviation facilities, destroying private property, terroristic threats, and disregard for public safety are acceptable behavior. This guy belongs rotting in prison, and then to be immediately deported on release after being declared persona non gratta in the US. We have enough citizen criminals that we don’t need more on student visas.

I agree. When I was in nurses training many years ago, had a nurse from India that was required to take classes here in the US before she could sit for state boards. She never made it. We had a patient with a smelly, infected wound that needed frequent dressing changes. She would ask others to "show her how" stating she would do the next one. After a week, we caught on and informed the instructor. She told her to do the dressing change and she refused stating it was basically beneath her and that she would never have to do something so menial in India. Welcome to America.
