You are so efficient and I admire you for the things you get done. 2 of my sisters and I started helping each other once a week with odd jobs. We have been doing it for about a month. We meet at one of our houses, work a couple of hours, then go to lunch and/or shopping. We are accomplishing so much. We are all in our mid-70s and our energy levels aren’t what they used to be so this is a great solution for us. We are lucky to have each other.
Wonderful idea. If you don’t have sisters you can do it with other single girlfriends. So I will see what my single girlfriend has to say about the idea. She’s not as old as I am, but I have the skills and tools!
I loved this video!! An incredible, strong woman who does things for herself. I would love to see a series of you showing how to do odd jobs. Like filling holes, using a drill to hang pictures, how to tile, changing a washer in an outdoor tap (this is currently on my to do list). Giving people the confidence to give things a go themselves. Xx
Hey Catherine, I don’t know if you know, but a little tip for you when replacing bathroom sealant - If you put a strip of masking tape either side of the crack to be sealed, it allows you to apply your sealant in a very straight line and only as wide as the separated tape. Remove the tape before sealant dries. Works a treat! 😊🇬🇧
You can also cut off a corner of a loyalty card (not your bank card!) to an angle and use that to smooth off the sealant, it gives it a nice slanted finish, and the water will just run off it.
The word you are looking for was “shuttering “ round the concrete base. You have a talent making things seem so much better and cheer people up. Talented Lady we need a tv series for sure.
Kerry Verlinden Hi There are so many terms for this, quite amazing when you think about it. I have built so many concrete structures using wood for support, a basic idea but it works
Today was outside day. Dug two old stumps out of my flower beds. Picked up sticks before mowing. Cleaned out my car. Bought birthday presents.charged up all the batteries for the mower and weed eater.
The painting of the base is a brilliant transformation! I bet it was very satisfying to see it transform. Amazing what a lick of paint can do in the garden! Looking forward to seeing the project finished x
Who makes chores look like loads of FUN?! Catherine, Catherine...she gets the JOB done! :) I hope your Mum is doing well...any chance she would ever do a video with you? We would love to meet the lovely lady that raised lovely you! Cheeky thumbs up dear! xx
I'm 5' & hate getting on the ladder so lightbulbs burnt out in my house? Oh yeah, there are to many of those I need to get to this week. The other thing is cleaning out the roof gutters! Miserable grimy job but has to be done before fall arrives. I just freshened up all the caulking & cleaned/filled in all the grout so that's a annual summer job ticked off the list. The other summer job is thoroughly cleaning the fireplace/woodburners & getting the chimneys all cleaned out before fall arrives when I'm back to using them. Lastly is checking all the weatherstripping & replacing where needed then I think I'm done.. for now anyway. Maintenance, as any homeowner knows, is never ending.
Entertaining as always. Don't do yourself done girl! You may not know the words for things BUT you certainly know how to fix the thingy & when to call the experts in. You're also very clued up about safety around the house & your wonderful Irish way ( a compliment) of explaining makes things so easy to understand. My house is full of thingys, whatsits, oogits, doofs... you get the idea! We love you here in our house. My granddaughter who lives with us follows you too, she adores you and loves wearing feminine dresses like yourself! What I'm trying to say is don't stop being you!! You really are an inspiration!!! Love, light, truth & hugs. LxX
To get the piece from the bulb out of the socket - cut a piece of potato and put inside, twist around - ‘lefty loosey’, righty tighty, and the piece will come out with the potato.
Hi Catherine, my next job is organising under the Kitchen Sink and then the dreaded Linen Cupboard!! Lovely birdsong accompanying Blondie as she strolled along.
My outstanding jobs are: painting a mark on the ceiling made by water leakage which was fixed two years ago, hanging a picture which has been propped up against the wall for over two years, and tidying that drawer in the kitchen which ends up full of junk and won't close properly. Well done for getting your jobs done, and a great idea using the fencing like that. That is another job which I need to do actually...
Hi Beautiful Lady. Super video as always. You are my all time fav UA-camr Catherine. Part of it is you being a fellow Dub, but mostly because you are very down to earth, funny as hell, talented, an inspiration and super sweet. Your videos always put me in a good mood. Hope you have a wonderful week. Sending big hugs your way ❤
Another great video Catherine. I know I’m boring as I say the same thing all the time…your expressions transport me home every single time. Thanks so much for giving me a little taste of home. Hope we can travel soon as I need a visit to Blackrock very badly.
A suggestion for a light bulb broken in socket, cut A potato and stick it in socket and turn to remove broken bit . It works all the time and you don't risk electrocution. Easy-Peasy🤔
I've been working on my list all day!! I've got one more!I can't wait for the green house! I know you're going to make it beautiful! Have a great weekend Dainty! I think God put you here to make things beautiful! You're making him proud girl!👏👏👏
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Loved the fact you told people to get their ‘boiler’ checked. I do this ever year. I have to paint the deck, replace the baseboard in the little bathroom , the faucets in my bathroom wiggle… and on and on.
Loved the video! So good to see Blondie outside monitoring your work. My favorite part of the video was the bird footprints in the new cement pad…soooo cute. 👍👍👍❤️❤️🐱🐱🌸🌸🇺🇸
This is what I look like after a bit of hard labour, I was cracking up 😂 I come in from the garden and realise I haven’t even brushed my hair that day, I obviously walked out in the garden and got caught up in something then forgot, I looked like a scarecrow, so funny !
Your video inspired me to hit the odd job list - renewing the refrigerator, clearing out the garage, changing bulbs, refreshing the paint …. Love your can do attitude!
I am always so impressed by how practical and hands-on you are, Catherine. There seems to be nothing that you cannot do. You are such an inspiration! Thank you for consistently producing amazing content. 😁
I need to paint the concrete floor of both my front and back porches. My number one procrastinated job is to finish painting my kitchen cabinet doors, have my hubby install the refurbished hinges, and get the doors back on my cabinets! Uggghhh.... I wish you were here to motivate me and cheer me on! Can't wait for your greenhouse! ❤
I love your pyjama set that you’re wearing at the beginning of the video - I didn’t even know they were pyjamas until you mentioned them!!! Loving all these DIY/cleaning videos, it’s inspiring me to clean the bathroom finally! And then doing my laundry lol! The life of a middle aged woman for me hahahahah!!! Thanks Catherine!
Ciao, Caterina, you don't need to be glamorous, be yourself we love you the way who you are, your personality. Think you might want to get classic chandeliers, vintage maybe i see those you have not matching your style. My plan for today tie tomatoes stop them to grow longer they are about 2 meter they do have tomatoes a lot but branches gets heavier&brake, repot some flowers, too hot some burned out, clean house, ciao😘
I wouldn't have guessed your outfit was PJs if you hadn't said so - very pretty outfit. You are such a hard worker and so clever. I adore your accent and find your videos so calming. Enjoy your heatwave ! Hi from Australia xx
I did buy new packs of furnace filters today and replaced the old one. I usually do this once a month, but that is an easy peasy job!! I buy the new LED light bulbs and they last so much better than those older kinds do. Hardly ever have to change a bulb now! I do need to put new sealer around the bottom of my bath tub. Thanks for the reminder! You are a handy person around the house Catherine!! Well done!
Catherine i had a little giggle when u said ireland having a heat wave at 27'. I am living in south africa and we reach temps of 43'. That is what we call a heat wave. Love your videos, you are so sweet. If you ever want to visit south africa and need a place to stay i would love hosting you on our dairy farm.
Today I’m working on cleaning baseboards. Inside my coat closet it was gross. I haven’t done my baseboards in well over a year. Thank you for continuing to inspire me to get off my duff and get busy.
Repainted and re-stencilled my bathroom,re- painted the kitchen table, cleaning out sections of my barn loft(Twenty years + of stuff to sort, sweep mice poos and pitch stuff!)
Love this video. Mine are: sewing on buttons or repairing a dropped hem. Washing and vacuuming the car (in the summer when it's just too hot), oh and sorting out "The drawer", you know the one you put everything in until you can be bothered to find a permanent place or file/archive it. Getting rid of bed linen you no longer use because it might come in handy if someone stays. I'll stop now as just realised I have more than I'm comfortable admitting too 😬. Well done Catherine and live to you and yours xxx
I’ve shattered my elbow so I’ve done little to nothing for a month and a half. It’s lovely to see you do the mundane. I’m learning not to take anything for granted, being able to do my everyday is a huge blessing that I’m looking forward to.
@@DaintyDiaries thank you. It was delightful to see you do things I am simply thinking about. I’m normally a very busy granny and it’s really challenging to be helpless. I’m just now starting to be able to dress myself.
Can't wait to see the faux-brick floor completed!! 😲☺ I had captioning on bc I was just watching some interviews in Dutch and it had some great bits from this video - your neighbors having a bbq turning into "my neighbors are having a baby" 😂
Admiring the way you unscrewed that broken light fitting. If it was me, i would have howled and rung one of my kids. Standing on a ladder is bad enough, let alone knowing which way to unscrew, things seem back to front to me unless they are at eyelevel. I don't know why. Good on you. I am ignoring house jobs as busy in the garden and doing some sort of carpentering things.
I am intrigued what you are willing and able to tackle in fixing and maintaining your property. You are an example to all of us. I always take the light bulb to the hardware store when I need to replace them. In South Africa we may only use the new LED light bulbs. These last a long time, slowly getting dimmer before all charge disappears. Because of this it is pointless laying in a store of light bulbs ahead of time. My light fittings and lamps use different shapes and sizes, some screw-in, others pronged, which adds to the confusion. We also have very hot weather here in summer but I have not thought of gardening in my PJ's. I think I am just too old.
My odd job list is gardening because everything is growing 🤗 however I need to recaulk my tub, fix kitchen cupboard hinges on a couple doors, paint baseboards and the biggest wash windows inside and outside 🙄😵 thank you for inspiration Catherine, your first name is my daughter's middle name, just thought.
Oh Dainty Love, between your voice during the base painting and the lovely birds chirping! That beautiful shot of little miss Blondie🥰 Awe! Absolute Heaven. Love you 💕 Great job knocking so many important tasks off your To Do List💫✨☀️
Delightful as usual. You really make me want to clean the hidden nooks and crannies in my house. Dusting all the electronics’ wires- the pits! You’re looking awesome over there!
I call them faff jobs. Yes I'm the same but I'm managing to tick loads off my list, mostly because I'm getting married in 12 days time & were having a garden party. I've got to pull out the sofa, repaint the steps by the front & back door, cement in the kids new garden swings, find homes for random bits of clutter across the house & sort out my airing cupboard - I think you Irish call it something else.
Catherine...the paint roller that you used should have a threaded hole at the end of the handle that will screw into any broom handle...which you can unscrew from your broom. I don't know if it's the same in Ireland but here in Canada...they make paint rollers to fit any standard size broom handle.
Changing baulbs in the summer so they work when winter and the dark comes is just the best thing ever, but i Always forget that. But this year i ended up having to replace almost everyone during spring so they should be fine now.
Great vlog! I feel like a brass antique looking chandelier would be so gorgeous in your living room with the floral fireplace. I love your girly aesthetic!
Cleaning the inside of my car, fixing the handle to my shed. Getting a cover for some wires , fixing some hooks on my curtains! Now I’ve wrote the list, going to get these things done 🥴😘😘
Totally relatable🤗... . I need to change bulbs in kitchen, hall, bathroom, etc, furniture needs building, tap need building on one bathroom sink, pressure clean front of house, grout needs cleaning, need to finish cutting trees and hedge, fix shed, need electrician for outside light, need to try and fix shed roof which is leaking due to rotten bits, order new freezer, mine is not cooing properly 😭..the list Endless 😭😭Then I have decluttering, deep leanetc to do. So much to do! Months of doing nothing due to work and kids😭... Fun summer ahead.. Not😭. You did a great job👍🤗
Loved watching this! If you ever have a broken bulb again. Or if the glass breaks in the bulb. Cut a potato in half. And use it to unscrew the part that's left.
Oh the bloody bulbs Catherine!! Same as you- constantly landing home with wrong ones & keep forgetting to take with me to return so I've lots of useless bulbs gathering dust in a box. I'd love to bring you to my house for your "holidays" , you'd have the place looking fab in no time 😀. Loved the work wear PJ's xx
Salutations Catherine, The odd job I did recently was re-doing my sun-damaged Stainless steel grill. I removed all the rust spots with Bar Keepers Friend. This is a cleaner and polish. It works like magic! Once I was done, I washed the whole grill with Dawn soap and let it dry. I then took a wired brush and removed all the rust from frame that holds the grill together and also where the gas is located. Prep the areas to be painted and gave them two coat of Black Rust-Oleum spray paint. The grill looks brand new again!
Finish off my brothers bathroom and declutter my closet before I leaving for Ireland for an extended period of time. I really do enjoy all of your videos and I have put bulbs on my shopping list...................Thanks again for shaeing
It feels very good to check off even daily list! The ones that I’ve put off for a long time makes me what to celebrate when I finally tackle them! Who else was watching to see the string on her blue sleeve dip into the toilet?! 😂😂😂 I sliced my finger once trying to take out that broken off bit of bulb! I couldn’t wait on my husband. He’s a procrastinator and it drives me nuts! I honestly could watch your videos all day! ❤️❤️🥰
I just bought some willow fencing for my patio. I have put a cattle panel arched over the concrete, secured with t-bars, like yours and now I'm putting the willow over the top so it will be a little cooler. I'm in Texas and it's 9am and the temperature is already 83 degrees, 28C. It's supposed to be 98 degrees this afternoon. And 101 tomorrow. That may be one reason we are all addicted to ice cubes! Good videos, thanks,
The switch for our immersion heater was in the hotpress in the bathroom. My brothers would turn it on but never remembered to turn it off. Dad added another switch in the kitchen which had to be turned on first. That way it was easier to see when it was left on. They are so expensive to run.
You always give me a giggle, you have a great sense of humor which I so appreciate 🤣. You also have amazing talent in so many areas. Always joyful videos 🌸🦋👩🌾
@@DaintyDiaries Thank you so much! I love your DIY, Decluttering videos and your cheerful happy personality that gets me pumped to tackle a project. So thank you for being such an inspiration and making me laugh with you 😁
LED bulbs are fantastic. I moved into my house 5 years ago and decided to replace all the bulbs with LED - I haven't changed a lightbulb since. My to-do list is to actually finish a shadowbox project I've had sitting on the dining table for 2 weeks then hang it up, get rid of 2 almost dead house plants that I have officially given up on, de-clutter a dumping spot in my garage so I can get to a box of stuff I've been meaning to donate then get the box of to the charity store, and hang up a framed butterfly that I bought at a charity shop last week for $2!!!!!! If I get particularly ambitious I may unscrew the u-bend under my kitchen sink to see if there's a block because it's draining really slow.
I saw some great Dainty inspo whilst watching Love your Garden on ITV this week. Making garden obelisks, mini greenhouse cloche etc. I also thought to myself. Wouldn't it be great if Dainty made gift bags from wallpaper or thick wrapping paper and one of those drawstring make-up bags that are all the rage. I can but hope. 🙏😄.
Hi Catherine.👍🏻 🏠You got a lot of icky work done! Good for you. Our house needs a bit of everything done, but high on the list is replacing taps and caulk like you did. Also have missing bulbs to buy and replace everywhere too. I hate when you can’t find the kind you need! Smart to take it to the shop with you! Constantly needing to replace batteries everywhere, including smoke alarms, and new filters for vents in all rooms. I wonder what you’ll get up to for your next video?! Can’t wait. Love and prayers!💕🙏🏼
I have tons of odd jobs I need to do in my house! You are so inspiring! I enjoy your videos so much! I can’t wait to see what you do to your patio! Have a wonderful day!!
I’m enjoying watching you get ready for your greenhouse. I am having a greenhouse put up next week too so it’s so nice having someone else to watch do the same xx
I replaced lightbulbs all over the house just today! Some had just died, and some 3ways had stopped working except for one way. I really need to take down all of my window coverings to wash, clean my ceiling fans, and sand and refinish the entry way doors - they look terrible on the outside! Big task ... remodel my bathroom. You are always an inspiration!
Ha ha, I never would have guessed you're in your pyjamas but then I live in Australia and am very accustomed to seeing (and wearing) tiny tops in hot weather. Catherine you are an absolute inspiration and really prompt me to just get on with lots of jobs around my home. Thank you for your channel ♥
Catherine, your hair looked glorious at the beginning of this video. I have a list of little jobs to do, and I've finally found someone to do them, yay!! Love you to bits! Stay well xxx
We must be in sync? I had my boiler serviced a few weeks ago ✅ Changed my toilet seat as it was also wobbly done ✅ Need an electrician to fix kitchen light and I want an outside outlet too!!! Love your videos xxx

Hey Catherine,
I don’t know if you know, but a little tip for you when replacing bathroom sealant -

Can't wait to see the faux-brick floor completed!! 😲☺ I had captioning on bc I was just watching some interviews in Dutch and it had some great bits from this video - your neighbors having a bbq turning into "my neighbors are having a baby" 😂
I've been updating the bricks in my stories on Insta if you wanna check it out! ❤️ thanks for watching xx
I feel like gardening can be a full time job in itself ❤️
Oh Dainty Love, between your voice during the base painting and the lovely birds chirping! That beautiful shot of little miss Blondie🥰 Awe! Absolute Heaven. Love you 💕 Great job knocking so many important tasks off your To Do List💫✨☀️
Awwwwww thanks Ana 🥰
So cute 27'c is a heat wave. That is a lovely cool day here in summer. Right now its mid winter at a high of 14'c. Hi from Australia. Love your videos
I love it, 14 is a mild Spring day for me lol x
Just cleaning all the Light is a job by itself. Great video thanx
Delightful as usual. You really make me want to clean the hidden nooks and crannies in my house. Dusting all the electronics’ wires- the pits! You’re looking awesome over there!
Love watching you get after off jobs, and your lovely garden 🪴 It must be so exciting to be getting ready for the greenhouse 😊
Soooo excited Gail x
I can relate to the light bulb issues. I’m short. It’s so high up. Lol.
🤣🤣🤣 I hear ya
I always look forward to your videos. I definitely binged them when I first found the channel. You're one of the few channels that I enjoy rewatching.
Oops just remembered i haven't put some new light bulbs in the lounge!
When it comes to replacing bulbs, I keep the lids off the new box and write where the bulbs are for on the back of the lid.
Did you notice the little birdie footprints in the concrete.😍🐦
Can't wait to see the greenhouse💕 I too have a list of boring but necessary homely jobs to do *sigh🙄
Sure don't we all! You got this ❤️
Catherine, I love your chatty videos and your beautiful house! You make ordinary things seem so special. 🌹
Thank you so much sweetie 💕
Oh the bloody bulbs Catherine!! Same as you- constantly landing home with wrong ones & keep forgetting to take with me to return so I've lots of useless bulbs gathering dust in a box. I'd love to bring you to my house for your "holidays" , you'd have the place looking fab in no time 😀. Loved the work wear PJ's xx
I agree...i zoomed around the house changing lightbulbs and doing the little jobs. you are such a tidy painter...👍👍👊
Spent the last two days painting my front door and frame and windowsills....Dusky blush, been putting it off for ages.
Salutations Catherine,
The odd job I did recently was re-doing my sun-damaged Stainless steel grill.
I love the feeling when you've finished your list 😂
Isn't it just the BEST feeling! Until the next time the wee jobs appear anyway😂 Thanks for stopping by Jane🥰
I always like watching your videos you're very positive and you are real about the things that are going on in your life
Finish off my brothers bathroom and declutter my closet before I leaving for Ireland for an extended period of time.
And the twisty part of the love that bulb we call the base in the US.
I used to hate it when my bulbs did that, then I went to LED and havent looked back. xx
Cleaning the baseboards!!!
Me too! I need to do that so bad x
Good videos, thanks,
It takes me all my time to replace the light bulbs even in the winter! The garden looks amazing!
Awesome job! You could've painted the "ratan", so it would still give that organic look without the dark color.
Thanks for the tip! Might actually try that, I might paint it similar colour to the fence to blends it x
Been changing light bulbs! I need to reseal around our sink in the kitchen and bathroom. HA!
The switch for our immersion heater was in the hotpress in the bathroom. My brothers would turn it on but never remembered to turn it off. Dad added another switch in the kitchen which had to be turned on first. That way it was easier to see when it was left on. They are so expensive to run.
Sooo expensive! I think everyone of them should have a timer as standard x
@@DaintyDiaries I agree.
You always give me a giggle, you have a great sense of humor which I so appreciate 🤣. You also have amazing talent in so many areas. Always joyful videos 🌸🦋👩🌾
The laundry room/ side door entry needs some love. Painting walls and maybe a new floor 🤔 Your video has inspired me to tackle this project 😁
Wooo love sharing the DIY inspo! Hope you get everything you want done ❤️thanks for watching Denise
@@DaintyDiaries Thank you so much! I love your DIY, Decluttering videos and your cheerful happy personality that gets me pumped to tackle a project. So thank you for being such an inspiration and making me laugh with you 😁
Totally get it....I feel the same way....it does feel wonderful when these little jobs are taken care of.....
The BEST feeling!
Thanks Catherine for the motivation! You go girl🥰
Aw I know right! It's all the little niggly house bits that are always left behind! Thanks for watching 💕💕
I have tons of odd jobs I need to do in my house!
You are so inspiring! I enjoy your videos so much! I can’t wait to see what you do to your patio! Have a wonderful day!!
Aw that means so much to me ❤️thanks so much for watching Linda xx
I have a long, long list!! Unfortunately, I am very lazy, so it’s slow going!! I could use some of your energy!❤️
I hope you get through it all ❤️thanks for watching xx
I remember the Immersion heater when I was a child even in England you never ever left it on lol
Would love to see the stenciling and green house. Excited for future videos.
Catherine, your hair looked glorious at the beginning of this video. I have a list of little jobs to do, and I've finally found someone to do them, yay!! Love you to bits! Stay well xxx
Thank you that is so kind x
We must be in sync? I had my boiler serviced a few weeks ago ✅ Changed my toilet seat as it was also wobbly done ✅ Need an electrician to fix kitchen light and I want an outside outlet too!!! Love your videos xxx
My odd job is to clean the shower of soap scum! I miss living by myself, I would get up early and do all the odd jobs. You inspire me so much!
Agh yes, I’m the same with soap scum, I find liquid shower gels doesn’t leave as much, and I try get the refillable bottles
