Scotty Kilmer hello, does that also a problem that can be solved on a bmw xdrive?
Scotty, you didn't leave a link for "common sense" on the things used in this video...🤔
hey scotty,,. i just did the same job ..only the retaining clip looks like it broke on the way out.. i got the big peace but never found the tips ,, 02 accent gl 1.6,, what would you do?.
Scotty i wanna advice from you what you think CV made from china?
Should you change both sides even if one of the two is failing??
Thank you Scotty. You made this look so easy! Your video helped me tackle this myself and as a woman the only thing I didn't have was some of that elbow grease RUGH!
The only extra tip I would say is leave the nut on when hammering the new axle into the transmission. Otherwise you risk damaging the threads.
I feel like i can rebuild a whole car watching your videos ...
***** And patience.
alcohol can also do that.
Yeah, Scotty's "Eh" even tells us what kind of torque we should apply bolting stuff on.
Yeah cars ant tht hard its them benz and god awful BMW's they have massive problems if they are 5 + years old.
You’re almost to manhood... 😂 when you can do it, then you are a young man.
I love that there are people like you out there that make these kind of videos. It reduces so much anxiety with the pleasant way you address car issues. Its so helpful for the average woman who has limited knowledge about cars and would like to to understand whats going on.
I'm hard just hearing her talk. I'm 30 years old
Great tip on putting grease on the end of the axle. I would extend that to put grease or better yet anti-seize on the splines on both ends of the axle to make removal easier next time. Rusted in cv axles are no fun.
Also I wouldn't recommend to anyone to hit the tie rod on the castle nut like that. You can easily bend a prong on the castle nut and you'll never get it back on. Hit the steering knuckle where the tie rod goes through it instead. Works great and no risk of damaging anything.
Scotty makes working on any car soooo much easier! We are extremely grateful for his videos👍
Great job keeping it simple I am currently attending auto school and watching this videos keeps me ahead of the game by knowing the basics
This guy's awesome. He makes it look so easy.
he does, but I wouldn't trust myself to do it lol
Yeah this one in particular. It's excellent skilled labor what he demonstrates.
That's what happens when you do it for 50 years lol
i m looking for a cv axle left and right for a Suzuki alto 1999 1.0 benzine can some one help me find them
Aviators how
This is the absolute BEST MOST USEFUL UA-cam channel for the common man!!!!!
Nigel John Do you really think it can be done in 4 minutes? If so then is he charging the customer for 4 minutes of work?
Love your videos scotty am fairly mechanically minded but sometimes I need a bit of help. Luckily you explain and demonstrate in a way even someone with little experience can understand
Scotty is the man. He makes everything look easy
My man has such crazy uncle energy and I love it
I have a Acura TL that makes this annoying noise! Sounds like the Wheel of Fortune wheel. Thanks, now I have a fun, learning experience to tackle this summer.
check the cv joints at the front wheels first, if boots are ripped, you need new ones
you know you seriously love a channel when you turn adblock off lol
thank you, that's how I get paid so I will continue making these free videos for everyone
Me and my son love watching your videos Scotty! Keep em coming.
I have become an ASE certified master mechanic after watching Scotty’s videos…lol.
Hi Scotty, I think your videos are awesome! You explain and demonstrate well.....I'm a woman comptiplating doing this myself...I believe I can now after seeing your thorough video. Thank you, Annemarie C.
Go for it. It takes patience. I did it myself, after watching YT videos and ordering a shop manual. I also bought an impact driver, which has saved me numerous struggles. Good luck!
that's gangsta girl I like that
breaker bar or impact wrench is my advice. Take your time and remember how it goes back together n u will be fine. easy
job if u can follow directions
Do it. My girlfriend rebuilt an entire engine and when I was in welding class I sat next to a girl.
Good Luck
im working in hankook tyre as a alignment technician/tire technician. And I would like to say is, this guy awesome :) .
good job sir. ;) keep it up.
Hey Scotty, army of one, be all you can be!!!!, i searched for this problem in my car and guess what?, found your video and my car is also a red hyundai accent....how crazy. I really like how you keep your narration to a minimum and spot on....thanks man
Holy moly... well done. everything I need in less than 4 minutes. Well done.
Love the Vids you are great. I have to ask about blooper videos and if you ever thought of making like a blooper from the years passed. I work at a dealership and everyday someones boliing over about fingers smashed or something is a pain to fix. It would be soo funny to see you get pissed off at a car or a mishap. Cheers Live free!!
You make it look so easy. No blood coming out of you knuckles either lol. I would have.
Scotty has so much experience lol he does everything with such ease. Every mechanic has there own way of working on cars.
Thanks a million Scotty, you just pin pointed that noise my wife was complaining about... I have ordered the parts and will be changing out the cv shaft tomorrow. I was surprised how cheep the part was too. Good day sir and God bless.
I like the sound effectd....tighten the strut mount...ARHHH......tighten the lug nuts...ARHHHH!!!
His grunts are how he measures how much torque to use. That's why he doesn't need a torque wrench. 👍
"And get the axle nut on nice and tight... RUGH! Put the tire back on and the lug nuts... UGH!"
Literally my favorite part of his Videos.
Haha I read that perfectly in his voice. Your transposition is on point. Take my genuine chuckle sir.
Don’t forget sometimes “YA GOTTA WIGGLE IT A LITTLE..... UHHHH!!” Not in this video but it’s my favorite Scotty-ism of all time 😂😂😂
Legend has it he doesn't need a torque wrench cause how much he grunts determines the right amount of torque needed for that operation. 👍
Love your channel scotty, wish you would upload vids 2 or 3 times a week but I know it's not easy. You remind me of my old mechanic boss, old school folks are THE best.
man, you're a life saver. not to mention cost savings and hassle of car in shop. thanks a million
Love watching you. You are a big help and cute
Sharon McManus like a turkey
First time I saw Scotty with a Hyundai
Scotty, I think it'd be really great if you did one of these DIY videos every once in a while. They were really well done and entertaining. Heck they inspired me to start taking care of my car myself.
Scotty thank you so much! I recently started working on my car and just found your channel again right when I needed it. I was terrified my transfer case or front differential had blown up, but thankfully it’s only the CV joint.
Hi scotty kilmer
I Love to watch your video's
But i dont have a car because i'm only 15 i have to wait 3 years more than i can get a car
And then i go fix it my self :D
Srry for bad english i'm comming from holland
That was some strange looking transmission fluid you poured back in. Looked more like motor oil kinda?
It was motor oil I saw that too. Shhh
@@lukepecoraro8600 could be manual transmission. honda manual fluid is basically motor oil.
Damn your the best Scotty. Always appreciate you beaming us up your great technical expertise and DIY repair tips. You're easy to listen to and always right-on in layman's terms. Keep-up the great work Scotty. We love you !!
It looks so easy when you fix things! Keep it up!
So what do I do if I don't have a transmission dipstick. Looked ALL over the engine and couldn't find it. Took it to a couple local mechanics and even they couldn't locate it. Dealership told me it's entirely sealed? What's up with that? Any help Scotty?
yep, the evil engineers make most of them that way so they have to be serviced at the dealer or by a pro mechanic with special tools and more knowledge. It's all about MONEY.
Alot of vehicles just have a fill hole with no dip stick. You just remove the plug and stick your pinky in there to check the level. If the fluid is right at the hole, you're good. But some cars, especially German cars, have fully sealed transmissions that only a transmission shop or dealership could charge you a fortune to service.
VW transmissions in the past had 2 plugs, one at the diferential to drain and other in the the back of the transmission to fill. The procedure is simply fill till it starts leaking from the filling hole. Its that simple, no need for a dipstick.
You probably have cvt oil its hidden look it up
@@scottykilmer man thats why i love your content, that piece of truth right there!👍✌
My car, creaks and clacks and moans and groans and sounds like an old mattress and that's even before I start the engine.
Sounds more like my ex-wife.
bg147 lol!!
bg147 Nice one. Your comment made my day hahaha.
pedrof830
lol pg147 😂😂😂 that's why we call woman X's because they can't be solved
pedrof830
yoh 😕 that too much
Scotty I wish I lived close to you so I can bring my van in for you to fix!! You are clear informative!! Learned so much on your videos!!!!
Educational and entertaining video. Great work!
wow i really hate that noise, mines is doing it really hard
Mine too!
I think you put engine oil instead of transmission fluid lol
It was jus a video showing how u do it that car was a trash he just used it to do a video
Shut up
You make it look so easy. I'm inspired to do it myself. Thanks for the great video
Finally know what the problem is now!!! 🙉😂 Thank you for these brilliant videos!!!
takes less than 4 minutes.
;)
i hope that wasnt motor oil you put in the transmission.
I was thinking the same thing
Charles Jones Most likely CVT transmission fluid. It looks just like oil.
Yeah this guy makes so many mistakes.
pablo marquez atf & gear oil does get black when it gets old
Look at the label at 3:36 smart guys. Pause and zoom in and you'll see it's a bottle of Pentosin ATF! Transmission fluid, kiddies. Observe before making asses of yourselves.
He is completely dialed in I love this video, awesome guy!!!
Great video. I'm diagnosing a popping/knocking noise from my front suspension/steering area. Had the sway bar links replaced before, so now I'm leaning towards the axles or shocks.
Really well done clip. Quick, interesting, not long & boring, straight to the point clip. 👍👍👍🚘🚘🔧🔨🔨

You are a god!!!!! Thank you for being a great mechanic to the people.
Popped out of that truck!! Never gets old scotty!!
Thanks scotty you just solved my problem. I truly thank you!
your vids are great, it's not fair that you make It look so easy
Funny and educational thanks Scotty love your videos
Nice tutorial. This was the first problem I had to fix on my beloved Suzuki. I paid only ~16 bucks for the left outer joint. It has been working perfectly for 8 years and 50000 km. If somebody wants to replace only the joint it is highly advisable that throw away the no name grease that comes with the kit and replace it with some quality lubricant. (The inner joints need ordinary EP2 grease - eg.: Total Multis EP2 - without any solid additives and the outers need lubricant that has MoS2 improver eg: Total Multis MS2.)
Man I can watch your channel all day love your videos

great video again scotty although long as people remember when reassembling the cv nut that on most vehicles there is a torque spec that needs to be in place so it doesnt ruin the wheel bearing/hub assembly
