I have met and ridden with this guy ^ Cycling Virgin. He is an absolute class act of a human and cyclist. I am a fairly competitive amateur triathlete but still green in cycling (specifically in the fast group rides featured on this channel) in terms of skills and strategy to "win" climbs and sprints. What you see on the channel is what you get in real life. Rather than bragging about he is smoking most people on climbs and sprints during these rides, he would rather give people advise on how they can do better and improve their own cycling. In my experience this is pretty rare amongst competitive athletes. Happy to see these videos back, and makes me excited to jump in these rides again as well! Cheers, and support the channel!!

Dude, You helped me go to the weekly Gainey rides. I used to be afraid about being dropped...I went, got dropped a couple times and now my fitness is up and I’m taking pulls on the climbs and finishing with the top guys. Nice to see you back. Hope I see you on the road soon.

Love your videos! My mom lives by the PV mall, and I make it out there a couple times a year. I live in Illinois, went to ASU in the 80’s. I always stop and shop at the Haus, have never run into you, just missed you once. I’m 51 and my life has changed immensely in the past few years. Lost 80 lbs through riding, and do it as often as I can. May God bless you in your new endeavors, I’m sure you will succeed in what ever you choose to do. Patients is the key! I look forward to more videos, because you are knowledgeable and a gifted athlete. Take care

RG! So good to see you again man, have truly missed you. Was afraid you were done riding and gone to cars exclusively! Thank goodness for the archives with solid advice and hard-hitting baselines :) Sounds like an exciting time for you personally, and I'm happy for you. Certainly hope to see more vids, but we all fully understand there are many other more important (and less time-consuming) endeavors to devote yourself to. So we'll take what we can get - good to see your smile again, it's contagious!

Just so you know, you have helped me to lose weight. I love the video you did on weight loss and I’ve lost over 50lbs this year. I still have a long way to go, but you’ve definitely helped me. Thanks

I feel your pain Bro. I’m an older guy and used to ride and race in CA back in the mid 80’s and then life hit and started having kids and moving all over the country for work. It was not until about 2007 and weighing in at about 250 that I got back on the bike. I started with a MS 150 ride and ended up down to 175 and racing rode and cyclocross. I was away from the house a lot racing…never was really good at it but I did enjoy the racing and my club friends. Well life struck again and I’ve been off the bike for a couple of years. Your video may has inspired me to get back my bikes again now that life has settled back down. I appreciate it.

Totally understand this one... I'm 37 and have a daughter and wife, my girls live here in Scottsdale and I'm working in Los Angeles right now. Literally only have 15 miles under my legs in 2019. Wish I had a lot more, but responsibilities call. 2 hours on the bike just isn't feasible anymore. Hope it all works out for you Ricky.

Welcome back! Just got started cycling myself and like how you approach your videos from a 'new guy' perspective. It gives me a lot of encouragement to not feel so out of place for being a noob. I love your idea to document your climb back and to let us be part of maybe getting dropped Saturday. I'll be watching!!

Just restarted training a few days ago after two months off as well. 20% drop in ftp. But just over the first few workouts my cardio has recovered a lot. HR is down 20 bpm in the first few similar rides. It does come back quickly.

See I'm the total opposite... Wife and I have 2 young daughters (4 and 8 month old), we both work, and we spend lots of time together and do fun family things.... But I still have time to ride because the wife and I MAKE THE TIME TO RIDE.... She knows that riding is my release, my escape, and my outlet to just get away for a little. I feel as though riding makes me a better person to be around. I totally understand having busy lives and priorities GOTTA be in line, but I personally never believe it when somebody says that they don't have the time to ride. During the warm months, I'm outta the house by 7am on the weekends and I have easily 3, 4, or sometimes even 5 hours that I can ride and then the whole rest of the day is for everything else. Like you always say, life is short. SUPER short in comparison to the universe's age. We as humans need to be able to have our outlets and ways to escape. I'm not saying taking breaks isn't good because it totally is good to do... But if somebody stops riding for extended periods I believe it's because they are choosing not to ride.... Not because they don't have the time.

I love to hear this. I will never stop riding my bike thats for sure, working on getting my balance correct will take some time. Everyone is different in how that can manage there time and focus, for me and I am sure others that focus needs to shift to other things now and again. I guess I also need to work on just riding to ride, and drop some of the training/competitive side for a change. That may help me keep my focus on other aspects while still being on the bike consistently.

Welcome back. I heard you talk about your knee pain. I'm finally back to pain free riding after about 10 months of dealing with pain on the outside of my knee associated with the IT band. I found this guys videos and they REALLY helped even after seeing a local PT failed. ua-cam.com/users/cyclingphysiosearch?query=medius They are cycling specific and explain the pitfalls of overcompensation coming from the front of the hip. Maybe they can help you too? -Cheers
