    I'm not going to comment about what you bought, because- dammit, I'm jealous and I wish I could do that. My question is WHY did you buy what you did?? Why a Specialized over the many bikes that you had access to at Bike House? Why the SL7? WHY the components? Is there a tactical advantage to the ceramics or is it more of a personal preference (sounded like a preference and curiosity, ,but am
    unsure.)? Does your body type fit this frame best and did you get a good bike fit from a real fitter and that's what was recommended? Is it a dream build? Are you going to try to be more competitive before you hit your 40's and everything goes to crap (I'm 53)? Curious as to the WHY rather than the WHAT. Thanks, nice build video. I need to get a new bike. After 14 years on the same one, it's time.

    • @CyclingVirgin
      @CyclingVirgin  3 роки тому +2

      That you for your comment. I will be doing a review video on the bike after I get a few more miles on. In that with your recommendation I will spend some time on the “why”.

      @@CyclingVirgin I ended up having to buy a bleed kit for the disc brakes saving me having to go into a store allowing me to do my own service I found breaks problematic when you do over 300 k’s a week little issues pop up they are a little bit more maintenance than the old rim brakes glad you love your new bike have plenty of fun 😊👍

    Forget the Ceramicspeed bearings. Over 75% of bearing drag comes from the seals and grease alone. Whether the balls are ceramic or steel is virtually meaningless, with steel bearings coming on top for friction and longevity. Ceramic bearings in bicycles are not fully ceramic, only the balls are ceramic while the bearing races are hardened steel. This is a problem because the ceramic is harder than steel, and as a result the ceramic balls will wear a groove into the steel race. This will lead to an increase in friction with continued usage, whereas a quality steel bearing will retain the same low friction up until the point of failure. A pair of NTN bearings, which can be bought for ~$50 for 6805 bearings, will vastly outperform and outlive anything from Ceramicspeed. 7 pairs of the highest quality bearings money can buy, or 1 ceramicspeed bottom bracket. Choice seems obvious to me.

    Tubeless sealant also works much better at lower pressures. My ENVE AR 4.5s are run at 51 PSI per ENVE’s recommendation based on my weight and tire width.

    • @CyclingVirgin
      @CyclingVirgin  3 роки тому +1

      That's good info, I'm slowly heading down and enjoying it. Already at 80psi after a few rides and learning the tires.

    • @bam0505
      @bam0505 3 роки тому

      I keep going lower and lower PSI. Currently also around 50-60 psi. With the extra volume in the tire the lower PSI will actually be more firm than a 23/25 (with tube) at 100 PSI. And faster. Also, IMO Specialized makes poor tubeless tires (turbo cottons are great BTW, just no good tubeless options). If you do swap out I’d recommend GP5K or Victoria Corsa (depending on if you want better longevity or more for racing. In my experience GP5K is the best for mounting with standard track pump)

    Interesting to see you put an Eagle chain on the bike. I am interested to see if that works, I thought for the AXS RD and CR you needed to use a flat top chain.

    • @CyclingVirgin
      @CyclingVirgin  3 роки тому

      Steve I thought the same thing. I asked the head tech the day of and he said it shifts fine. Took his word for it and of course it works perfect! I will add it needed one ride to "break in" was just a bit loud when cross chaining until I had about 30miles on it.

      @@duketran6093best choice to go for the sl6 RIMbrake.
      Its the best tarmac made.
      Beside that, you will have way less trouble servicing your own bike and its more convenient too traveling with the bike.
      If you're not riding in the rain a lot, rimbrakes still are the best pick overall.

      With all the miles you have on the sl6 rim brake Di2 and a disc sl7 etap 12 speed tell me why do like the sl6 better?

    • @Zeben84
      @Zeben84 3 роки тому +1

      @@CyclingVirgin Because it was overall a way better bike, it was light (sworks instead of specialized, rim brake), it had Shimano and not Sram (personnal preference, but those hydro levers are beyond ugly and not comfortable compared to Shimano DI2 levers), and you could not have spend the money on the Allez Sprint (idk why you bought this bike) and then on the SL7 which is as heavy for probably twice the price !

    • @Zeben84
      @Zeben84 3 роки тому

      @@CyclingVirgin No but i have tried both back to back and the Sworks SL6 felt way faster/stiffer than the Sworks SL7 ! (both had Dura Ace DI2, the SL6 was rim brakes, the SL7 was 600grams heavier, both bikes tires pumped up to 6.5bars)

    • @CyclingVirgin
      @CyclingVirgin  3 роки тому

      So you haven’t owned both bikes and put a good amount of miles on them? (and no taking them on a test ride around a bike shop doesn't count for anything) Because if you have no actual first hand experience with all of the components of these two bicycles no one, no one gives a shit what you think or what you are able to regurgitate from someone else’s review that you watched or read on Reddit. If you want to give your opinions on my channel I’m fine with it but only do so if you yourself have the experience.

    • @Zeben84

      I might have no long term experience on both bikes but you don't seem to have any experience outside of Specialized.
      Now go ride your SL7 and sell it when the SL8 releases 👌
