Fallout going away for a while is honestly probably a good thing, it will allow Microsoft and Bethesda to figure out what they're actually gonna do with the franchise. Fallout New Vegas is my favorite game of all time, and as much as I would love to see obsidian have a second shot at a fallout game, the development team that made New Vegas is gone, and given the state of The Outer Worlds being incredibly mid, I feel like most people don't have confidence in Obsidian to deliver.
That being said, Fallout New Vegas is my favorite game of all time, and I highly recommend anyone who has not to seriously pick up and play Tale of Two Wastelands (TTW), it combines 3 and NV into one massive open world. With a few mods to improve stability, and maybe graphical additions (If you are so inclined) it is in my mind the definitive Fallout experience.
For those of you looking to just expand upon the New Vegas experience, I would highly recommend you try and play the collection of mods by Someguy (New Vegas bounties/Russel/The Better Angels). Very good if you're looking for an even more expanded NCR playthrough.

Outer worlds is so weird. Like the makings of a good game are all there but felt like they played everything way too safe to say nothing how stupid short it was for a premium game. I do think a Outer Worlds 2 could work with the world they set up if they just expanded on everything and if consequences meant anything. I really do believe there is a great game underneath all that mid.

I did look into the bonus thing and Obsidian has said that their bonus would not have changed the lay-offs either way. It's very sad that they suffered money issues because had they continued with the Fallout franchise we would've had something very exciting. I'm so hype to see what will happen now that Microsoft has purchased both Bethesda and Obsidian. I need a New Vegas Remaster YESTERDAY. Maybe one that doesn't randomly crash or corrupt all my save files LOL
I've bought Fallout 4 and restarted it twice, but each time I started it I ended up spending 5 hours building my house and then quitting so I'm glad that's a universal experience.
Also: TERRIFIC VIDEO. I'm investing for when this blows up. Thank you for taking the time to research, narrate, and edit everything :) I learned a lot that gave me great insight into why the games differ so much and gave me thoughts on what Fallout will look like in the future.

I very much enjoyed fallout three, fallout four and fallout new Vegas! They are some of my favorite games of all time and the main thing I loved about fallout four was the fact that you had this whole separate game with the building mechanics in each of the settlement where whenever you were ready to take a break from exploring and grinding out in the wasteland, you could sit back and relax and build until your hearts content!!! I spent so many hours building amazing stuff or at least what felt amazing because it was all unique?!
I managed to complete fallout four on the PS4 Pro first and then a year later on the Xbox one X when I got one and as far as fallout three goes, I just finally got the last five achievements I was missing in that game last month!! The only one I have left to complete is Vegas which I might not ever do because I’m only missing a few and one of them is a hard-core play through and I don’t know if I really feel like doing that..

    • @aaronlaughter6471
      @aaronlaughter6471 Рік тому +6

Yeah, Chris Avellone himself has said that the issues was a mix of Obsidian upper management making dumb decisions and Obsidian themselves biting off more then they could chew. Hell he even states that Bethesda offered them more time, and help. But they refused because they wouldn't get paid until the game shipped.
Hell I crucified Bethesda for making stupid decisions. Hell I was one of the first to attack F76 when everyone else was cautiously optimistic. Bethesda deserves criticism, all game devs do. But the fanboys acting as if Bethesda was the reason why FNV didn't get 85 on metacritic and (in my honest opinion, and can link a video backing my claim) was just as buggy and broken as F76 on launch.
Bethesda deserves criticism, but the whole lie about them screwing Obsidian is just that, a lie. Bethesda, believe it or not, where the good guys in the situation, and tried to help Obsidian as much as they could.

@@aaronlaughter6471 yeah it’s for the exact reason of how buggy New Vegas was at launch, that I did not actually complete all the game and DLC until just last year?!?
I had got it when it first came out and my buddy and I started a character in it and started murdering the game quickly!! By the time I got to Caesars legion where Cesar had Benny up on the cross he had another Benny that was on his knees on the ground and both of their text dialogue Scripts were both running simultaneously, and as soon as I killed one of them, the other died and it crashed the game so hard that it corrupted my save file and I had basically wasted 25 hours?!?!
I was so pissed, I was enjoying myself so much and got ruined by a bug at the very beginning.. because of this I did not go back to the game for many years out of fear of aggravation that something similar would happen again??
Anytime I go into a main line fallout game like three, four or new Vegas I’ll start getting multiple Quest lines done at the same time just by exploring every single thing I come across and having quest be completed back to back and sometimes I would already have an item that I need it for another quest and not even need to go retrieve it just because of that play style!!
this way of “Murdering the game“ is what I think caused it to glitch so badly at release??

You also see a lot of similarities between the games if you truly view them all in the same world. For the Fallout 2 atmosphere they kind of accidentally did it right by having a less gloomy game, the fourth wall jokes got way out of proportion being literally everywhere, but I think the game being a bit less depressing makes it better, we see improvements in society from the first game where society has really only gone 4 (20 year) generations in the first. Then we double that, and we really get to see how things are getting a bit better, still pretty sad in places such as New Reno and the Den with drug issues, but we also see places like San Francisco, Navarro sort of, NCR and Vault City with thriving communities being created.

I've spent the last week or so playing Fallout76 and haven't noticed many bugs. About the only issue I've had is every now and then parts of the landscape will take a bit to load in and you'll end up with parts of the environment floating in the air. It's not really all that big a deal to me. The writing is great (a lot better than in fo4) and most of all the community is alive and not full of assholes. The majority of players I've happened across have been friendly, helpful folks. PVP isn't really that big a deal and if someone harasses you there's not really much harm they can cause. if they do manage to hurt you (say you shoot them by accident while flagged as being in pacifist mode) they're immediately flagged as hostile. This makes them fair game for everyone else on the server. These folks usually don't last long.
It's a really great game and from what I've read & seen it has a lot of great content ahead.

I also have Fallout 4 heavily modded, thats the only way to make it an actual Fallout game. I refuse to play 76 or consider it canon. F4 was so annoying with scoping in. Keep old characters and enemies. Add in new characters... new enemies... new weapons. FNV had the best storytelling with tons of options. That's why you can replay it 118171777 times. You go in different directions with every choice. Plus, the atmosphere and music in FNV cant be beat. Also I want the option to toggle old FNV style graphics instead of new. FNV was dark and gritty while the new is way too polished and cartoonish.
