I work in animation and the stronghold that after effects has on the industry frustrates me. Thankfully I'll see if i can adapt these to an adobe-less workflow in the future.
Dude Ive literally been saving up for after effects to composite my cartoon with this lighting effect. And now I don’t have to, I finally can stop using drop shadow as a highlight😭 THANK YOU
i'm a 2D animator and animations take so long i barely have time for highlightsand shadows this Tutorial is Gonna Take My Animations to the next Level Best Tutorial ever
Dude. This video is a life saver. As someone who always despised Adobe predatory practices and as a beginner animator, I always wanted to learn more about comping with Resolve but never found any tutorial... Until today. Keep this up man. and if you can make other videos on visual fx, camera movements, motion graphics etc that would be great.
As someone who's used Davinci Resolve for animation, these tutorials are so helpful for learning new techniques and ways to make it smoother and more interesting
I'd love to see more videos about the animation process in depth. Movements like running and walking. I'm a visual person do it would be nice to see someones workflow.
As a guy who's always wanted to make animations but cursed at not being able to draw, this series is a ray of hope. I have been looking at building 3d characters in Reallusion's Character Creator and posing them then following your tutorial on animating them, shifting perspectives and interesting poses. I hope to be able to make a sort of hybrid workflow 3d characters and 2d backgrounds
THANK YOU THANK YOU I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO RIM LIGHTING FOR SO LONG Youre the first person i know who has made tutorials for ppl that does animation and these tutorials made me try Davinci again thank you!
Man if have searched so long for a tutorial on this rimlighting stuff for Davinci. You absolutely made my day!!! Please more of these kind of videos! Thank you so much.
You’re doing a much needed job here man. I switched from adobe almost 2 years ago, and suffered a lot to adapt my workflow to resolve cause there’s nothing dedicated to animations and fusion. You’re going to save a ton of people the headache.
All of your success is more than deserved. Your dedication and work is bringing people in, and regardless of the fact that I won’t be doing this sort of animation anytime soon, I’m here, watching and engaging, because it’s well deserved! Keep it up!
This video is God's work. For the longest time I been planning to do animation compositing in DaVinci. I already strarted doing some tests. But I'm still a noob with the program. So this video is definitely very insightful and motivating me to defo wanna use DVR. BLESSSSS.
I had no idea I could do this with DaVinci and this literally helps so much instead of trying to find a expensive program I can't afford and need for animations and a project I am working on. thank you so much!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! I've been searching how to do compositing in Davinci for ANIMATION but all I find is Motion Graphics or making an animation as in movements in Davince not actually Compositing your own Animation that is from other software!! Your process also gave me some insight on what should I do, Thank you very much!
Master class ! As Suggestions I think you can show us all the steps behind your work as : Story Telling, Drawing characters (any characters) and defenitly level up motion designing with fusion :) thanks
Man, you're are a gift. I've been looking for so long for davinci resolve animation compositing videos for so long Please keep them coming. Subscribed, God bless you.
This is great! Thank you ❤ As someone who's done 2D animation in AE but has since ditched Adobe, I would love to see more in-depth examples of compositing in Davinci Resolve.
WoW Man. I was just trying to figure out how animation compositing works in fusion. You showed me the perfect way. Really appreciate you man. Thanks. Love you bro.
It's a great animation video ... right up there with the stuff Casey Ferris is doing. I do a fair bit of motion graphics stuff in Davinci so this was super interesting. My only complaint ... was your voice acting in the goriginal short LOL. Your screams and the likes were too soft!!! :) Hope to see more fun stuff like this in the future. Now I'm off trying to save my cleints under exposed footage that has completely clipped audio ... *starts crying*
There are two particular things (that come to mind) that After Effects can do, and if Davinci Resolves could do it would be a game changer! 1) OLM Smoother - Select a color (like black lineart) and it will smooth all aliased lines in 1 step, SUPER time saver! 2) Color Keep or ColorKey - Select a specific color (from aliased flats) to manipulate, usually to blur or change the specific color (such as in irises, gradients, and blush) If you know how to do either of these in davinci resolve, a video on it would be unbelievably appreciated!!
Make a tutorial on creating fusion presets! So you can save that compositing setup for example, and apply it to other clips, or have animation rigs with preset movements to just drag and deop; would be a really useful feature for animated character youtubers
Not sure if this is in your wheelhouse but it would be great if you could show us how to apply all these techniques and rigging to a anime-based composition inside fusion
I think it would be cool to do a video about the versatility of *2D Puppet Animation* we've had iconic limited animation for at least 80 years so i think it would be cool to showcase that (but also making it a part of a bigger project like you did with Scooby-Doo x Backrooms) there are so many characters that have evolved over the decades like Spiderman & Superman but the sky's the limit
Great videos! Maybe you could go over the tree a little. It can be frustrating when you are trying to use a node, but the input is wrong, or it should be before or after a node.
amazing tutorial! thanks so much!❤🙏 i didn't want to learn Davinchi because of node system, i really like them not much in 3d programs, and i use AE. but this node system is much simpler, and compare to compositing in AE this rim light u should parented, it will not moves by themself. it was interesting to know and think about try to learn Davinchi by your animation lessons
Here is a good idea! I saw this one animation that used 2D animation but had 3D animated elements that were anchored onto the 2D elements, could you do a tutorial on that?
Hi! I am having trouble with the transform node. For some reason, if I try to move does nothing, the image is darkened by the shadow node, but if I move the pivot the rim light effect isn't showing up. Am I messing something up? Thanks in advance.
Hello ! Your videos are really excellent and thank you very mutch for this ! Will you do the time slipping effect from Loki ? I saw your video about the Time door effect from loki too and it was very cool but i think it's easyer on Blender to do this effect 😁! Have a good day !
i really like this video. one thing what should I do after finishing the comm? should I render it or just leave it be and render it entirely with full final editing video.
Oh so you used the same technique for the "Shadow" as i usually do with 2d stuff lol, my gripe with that technique is that it only work if there is no difference in Depth at all between any Points of Contact (the feet) with the ground, because the further away, the "higher up" in 2d space the shadow meets the Point of Contact, meaning a different Pivot point for each P.O.C. A Solution might be connecting the characters to a Camera3d's image input (contrary to ImagePlane node, it makes sure it has the same Size in 2d space as the mediain) and add a ground image plane thats has the proper/same perspective as the BG image (The corridor) Floor, with some lights, but isolating the Shadow sucks a lot, and it all sucks even more if the ground is anything other than completely flat
I was looking for this EXACT video, many of the videos of DaVinci talks only about filming when teaching composition. I think your video is the only one to actual animation Question: Did you update your animation onto the program by png sequence ?
Is there any chance you could upload the node map as an image showing them more separated? I keep trying to replicate what you do but is not happening and I think i am messing up the node connections, I can't tell if transform is going into blur or not.
I am back with a question. Are there any ways to replicate or use the OLM Smoother plug-in, in DaVinci. It basics aly smooths out Anti-Aliased lines in after effects. But I haven't found a way to do that in DVR. If there's a way in DaVinci Resolve, that would be a huge help for compositing animation in DVR
Man I love you, I think you are the only on who explained how to make compositing for animation in davinci, thank you so much you're a life savior
IKRRR, everybody just talks about AE. And I dont wanna use Adobe. hahahaa
true
I work in animation and the stronghold that after effects has on the industry frustrates me. Thankfully I'll see if i can adapt these to an adobe-less workflow in the future.

I'm literally using these tips on my next videos.
Incredible.

Sorry if I'm rude, but what stops you from drawing?
yoh.. try a software called moho pro
THANK YOU THANK YOU I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO RIM LIGHTING FOR SO LONG

You’re doing a much needed job here man. I switched from adobe almost 2 years ago, and suffered a lot to adapt my workflow to resolve cause there’s nothing dedicated to animations and fusion. You’re going to save a ton of people the headache.
Love the videos! They've really inspired me to create my own animations in Fusion. More videos on this type of stuff would be amazing!!!
Very helpful. Congrats on 10k.
really helpful mate thanks a ton
would love to see more about creating 2d animations in resolve, love your vids and thanks
Zoinks! I've been using resolve for years, editing docs for clients. Never realized how useful fusion coule be for animators.
This is awesome.
All of your success is more than deserved. Your dedication and work is bringing people in, and regardless of the fact that I won’t be doing this sort of animation anytime soon, I’m here, watching and engaging, because it’s well deserved! Keep it up!
Man the way you use fusion is damn inspirational
🔥🔥
Forgot to mention. Great series so far. Good job.
Very good tutorial, clear and concise. Those changes really make a night and day difference. Subbed 😀

That’s really good smart compositing method. LOL i was using in photoshop and premiere but never knew it so easy in resolve ! 😂👏👏😎
I had no idea I could do this with DaVinci and this literally helps so much instead of trying to find a expensive program I can't afford and need for animations and a project I am working on. thank you so much!
Now that's some real level up
These videos are a blessing, man. Keep it up!
Thanks for great introduction into world of Resolve compositing!
you deserve even more my guy,
sadly davinci has a really small community otherwise your channel is insanely good
I've been trying to find something like this thank you!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! No way, this is soo good!! New sub, keep it going!!!

Cool stuff you're putting out there with Resolve. Happy to subscribe.
This is great! Thank you ❤ As someone who's done 2D animation in AE but has since ditched Adobe, I would love to see more in-depth examples of compositing in Davinci Resolve.
Most underrated channel on the platform

I think you should a vhs effect tutorial for davinci resolve or some other app. I think it’ll be pretty cool
Looking for a good workflow for anime style compositing. Giving it a shot myself but it would be cool to see your take
Can you do more particle effects?
I think it would be cool to do a video about the versatility of *2D Puppet Animation* we've had iconic limited animation for at least 80 years so i think it would be cool to showcase that (but also making it a part of a bigger project like you did with Scooby-Doo x Backrooms) there are so many characters that have evolved over the decades like Spiderman & Superman but the sky's the limit
Congratulations on your milestone 👍🏾
Great videos! Maybe you could go over the tree a little. It can be frustrating when you are trying to use a node, but the input is wrong, or it should be before or after a node.
Please can you make tutorial on something from stranger things like the gate or upside down. I love your content and this sounds like a challenge!

You should make these kind of videos for kdenlive and how to composite animation in that
Very good!
I was looking for this EXACT video, many of the videos of DaVinci talks only about filming when teaching composition. I think your video is the only one to actual animation
Question: Did you update your animation onto the program by png sequence ?
call me mindblown, subscribed!
Please make a video on advance cgi or vfx in davinci resolve
very nice!
Can you do the advanced compositing in Davinci Resolve?
you are welcome ;)

Is Davinci Resolve Better then Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects?
The amount of time I would have saved by following this tutorial....
