Isn't raw egg bad for you?

Very good point! We were concerned about the idea of using raw egg making these truffles ourselves so did a bit of reading.
As we live in the UK we went straight to the NHS guidance page which (summarised) says that it is safe to eat raw or lightly cooked eggs here unless they are:
      🔹not British Lion stamped
🔹not hen eggs (e.g. duck or quail eggs)
      🔹from outside the UK
We followed the ‘rules’ carefully choosing our eggs, and luckily, all went well, although we decided to make sure they didn’t hang around for long and ate them all within 12 hours!
Here’s the NHS link we referred to: www.nhs.uk/live-well/eat-well/eggs-nutrition/
That said, every country/area would have its own guidance so it would be important to check what that is before attempting this recipe, and if making for a vulnerable person it would be wise to skip the egg altogether just to be safe. Perhaps just add a little more chocolate for firmness. We’ll put a little note at the beginning of the video and top of the description to say this tonight 😉.
Thank you so much for your comment, you raised a very important point. Take care!

For me Christmas just isn't Christmas without a box of rum truffles - which I scoff while watching Christmas EastEnders! Haha! They're usually shop bought though. Last year however I decided to have a go at making them myself. Unfortunately something went wrong and I ended up having to chuck out the mixture which was a real waste. :( This recipe looks a lot simpler and has less ingredients so I might just give truffle making another go this year. :)

I like the sound of that... a box of rum truffles, comfy seat, dimmed lights + an Eastenders Christmas Special sounds like PERFECTION. You could even turn it into a game - scoff a truffle every time someone knocks back a drink in the Vic!
We'd never made truffles before we tried these (and on camera!) but tell you what, everything went so smoothly with this one, I'm sure they'd turn out just fine for you! If we weren't filming, I reckon we'd have been able to finish them in 10 mins after getting all the ingredients measured out, although it's probably one of those recipes where you've got to be extra careful with the amounts 😄! Comparing this one with the Victorian Cheesecakes recipe we tried (which was a nightmare - we had to make the curd 3 times 😬) this one was a dream. Prob best eaten on the same day though, considering some of the ingredients!

@@handeddownkitchen8192 Or scoff a truffle every time there's a slanging match. You'll get through the truffles in no time! :)
Well it looks straightforward enough so hopefully it'll work a lot better than what I tried last year which was very frustrating. Of course you'll find out how it went :)
I've only made a cheesecake once in my life, and although it wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. So while I'll be watching the video for the Victorian cheesecake at some point, I definitely won't be attempting that. Not for a while anyway! :(
