@@Peppeblackmetal No, it objectively does make a difference. Thicker strings have higher tension, which feels different. That alone makes a difference in terms of playability, but the different feel can affect the sound.

@@Peppeblackmetal Don't need to. I play the goddam instrument in every tuning from E standard to drop G, using a variety of string gauges. I think I know the difference string gauge makes.

@@bedrockcastle777 bet you believe in tonewood too? Bigger strings make bends harder, which on bass you don't do regularly and maybe give a tiny bit more tension. That's it. Obviously the lower the tuning the higher the gauge to keep tension but that's it.
