This kid is incredibly fearless, knowledgeable and he has the rare ability to articulate under stress. Even better than many educated and trained litigators.
It's all about composure. It's fortunate that the kid and his dad were recording from the start because the cops would have been lying their asses off on their reports. They tried to lie anyway but the kid reminded them it was all already on record. Surprised the cops didn't demand their phones.

This video is about 5 years old. According to the updates: 2 Officers (Sgt. Thor, Ofc Rodregrez (sp?)) have been fired. The third officer (Ofc. Proctor) has a major reprimand on his record. The entire Park City Police Dept. has/had to go thru 1st Amendment training, "Jack" and his father have a major lawsuit against the Park City Police Department and still going thru the Court System, as for Park City's attempt to dismiss, it was denied. As for "Jack" who was 15 years old at the time, he is now 18-19 now, he has been accepted/going to a major university and going thru Pre-Law, last I heard (Thru the 'Lackluster' Channel) he was accepted into law school....
Thanks for the update. It’s good the PCPD held these Officers accountable and has required more training for the whole Dept. When Police Departments investigate themselves and find “No wrongdoing” and wrongdoing has clearly occurred, it reflects badly on them all. Also glad to hear young Jack has been accepted into Law School, he’s going to be a great litigator. Hopefully he’ll specialize in Constitutional Law.
5 years and still going through court? Thanks for the update. Maybe you can update us again another 5 years. Assuredly, the case should be done by then and Jack should be a practicing lawyer by then... or at least in an internship. Or maybe the case will be done at the quarter century mark. Do you suppose they'll have to take it all the way to the Supreme Court? Small towns seem to tend to be like this. By the way, those officers looked fat. Jack should ‘go far’ I agree. The more likely reality is that the cops will target jack, desperately attempting to find any way to ensure that young jack ends up with a criminal record. It's not training. They're retards at best and believe anything they do, however vile, is lawful. How can you enforce laws when you don't understand them?
This is by design. Intelligence is considered a negative atrribute for police officers as it means the officer would more likely question orders. Natural attrition weeds out the rest so you are left with a police officer who loyally and blindly follows and has a enough understanding of legal process to do what they are told, effectively autonomous foot soldiers. Reform is too hard because it would mean we would actually have standards for becoming a cop, of which there is virtually none. I don't get we have not made it illegal for cops to not only have to have their bodycams, but needing to be on at all times. In addition to having to make all the footage publicly available (and if it ever "vanishes" the cops on the scene will automatically by default be treated as guilty the same way someone who doesn't show up to court loses by default) just like court records are publicly available. What happened here is obvious, they were scared of there being a gun, because the neighbor probably lied regarding how threatening the conversation with the dad was. Once they got to the house one of the cops started to react to his movements, once the situation was clear that the father was in fact not even close to be going after his gun. They realized they had fucked up this entire situation and instead of taking accountability, actually been apologetic and even going so far as to tell them what to do and where to give their complaint. Odds are the family wouldn't have done anything. But instead they quadrupled down, made things worse and let's be honest if there wasn't all this video evidence they would have made even more things up than they already did. Even if the family had complained about their initial reaction, at worst the family might have gotten paid some small sum considered as damages and the cops would have gotten a slap on the wrist for tackling the dad. They ended up doing the same thing dumb criminals do when caught in the act and still act innocents, except here it's worse because they behave as if they have legal and moral authority.
The national conversation had a chance to examine western policing after the George Floyd incident. Instead we turned it into a race thing, and nothing changed. It is a failure of we the people that actual reform didn't take place. Some grifters bought some mansions though.
Isolated incidents aren't proof of anything. You're basically saying, if I find a murderer in Sweden then that's proof of how flooded Sweden is with murderers. But I agree that reforms are needed. In Sweden police training requires 4 years of training. You actually have to go to a university and complete 6 months of paid workplace practice.
I had a Prof at University. His father was a Cop and the Prof gave lessons for Policemen, too. He always said conversations with Cops are different, because they tend to go into any social situation as if it was some kind of competition. They act very dominant in social situations. Often in an unpleasant way, trying to go out as "the winner". Something I have personally noticed before, and made total sense the way the Prof said it.
UPDATE: I just called the Park City Utah PD and dispatch informed me that all cops involved in this incident are NO LONGER employed. I also know there was an internal investigation and a number of violations by punk Rodriquez were noted. So there was at least SOME accountability - not the same standard an ordinary citizen would be held to, but some is better than many departments so... slow clap for Park City - for not being COMPLETELY out of control and tyrannical. I must respectfully disagree that these officers are somehow disgustingly bad. Yes, "they are untrained, legally low information, don't know how to perform their duty" but whose fault is that? There are no bad children, bad dogs, and few bad police officers. But there are bad parents, bad dog-owners and bad police forces that are incompetent and violent. And here's the elephant in the room: POLICE UNIONS that make it very hard to fire bad officers. This is why BLM is so full of shxx.. they scream racism but never address the REAL issues.

What an outstanding young man. Making sure he knew his rights, the law, and wasn't afraid of the intimidation tactics. Well done, Jack! You're an absolute credit to your Dad.
This video illustrates the power of simply being informed. In the US you have your Constitutional Rights. Here in Canada we have our Charter Rights (unfortunately not as strong nor as concisely laid out). I have a copy (a book) of my Charter Rights right beside my bed that I read bits of each night. Not because I’m a conspiracy theorist, but because that small bit of continuous reading has saved me thousands of dollars in accumulated attorneys fees. Most people end up requiring an attorney at some point. Attorneys are not cheap. But my lawyer explained that the biggest part of a lawyers job is typically- repairing the damage done by the client because the client failed to use their constitutional/charter/Miranda rights to remain silent and have legal representation. Cops should hate ‘criminals’, but they don’t. Criminals are why cops have jobs. What cops truly hate is citizens that know their Rights. Knowing your rights forces the cops to actually do their job in a professional & courteous manner. But that’s not how cops were taught! Academy and then field training is based on coercion, threats, intimidation, violence, and ESCALATION. Everyone from 15 yrs of age on, should go take a course, pick up a copy, or even pay an attorney, to learn basic rights. It’s invaluable information.
"not as strong" LOL. They literally put a "notwithstanding clause" in our Charter. The only reason we even got the Charter was because they agreed to put the "we can suspend all your civil rights at any time" clause into the Charter. When it comes to civil rights violations in Canada, you don't specifically need an attorney. If you believe you have a civil rights violation case, you can bring it to the Canadian Human Rights tribunal, and if they feel that you have an actual civil rights case, they will represent you without cost. P.S. They're still "constitutional rights" in Canada (you don't have to refer to them as "charter rights"), as the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was put forth as part of the Constitution Act of 1982
So apparently police will take the word of the caller rather than doing an actually investigation. Great job on the education Jack is receiving. Bravo sir!
My blood boils when i watch things like these. Thank god they had it on camera. Imagine how many of these happen and corrupt officers are still roaming.
i have a question since i am from EU. well I was in US on a business trip for a week and I was told that no matter what If I get pulled over by police or stopped by them just do what they say, dont reach for anything and there will be no issue. Here in EU I know a lot of people who LOVE to argue with officers coz they can and I have seen this on a lots of videos from US that people could just talk to them but they decide to do something stupid which escalates the whole thing which to me, seems to be this case. so why is the police officer corrupt? imho they just wanted him to step down since someone said he has a weapon. which might be dangerous to the officers. if there is nothing to worry about just do it, talk to them and go home in 5 minutes angry at the neighbours for calling them. it's human instinct I believe that if someone tries to "run" he had to do something otherwise why run? sure they also have to follow rules, taser and other things were a bit "too much" etc. but was it so bad? I always say I do not envy police officers because on one hand they gotta risk their life every day where little things like that can be a difference between going home or hospital... or worse. we do not know if those guys had a bad day and met 10 more guys like that or if someone tried to shoot them yesterday out of nowhere. sorry for a lot of text but honestly if there are 2 cops knocking on my door right now and they say I am making a noise (even though I am not) I will not slam the doors in their face and tell them to F-off. I'll say that its not me and if it WAS me they would hear the sound outside. I will say thank you and offer them a coffee if they seem like a nice guys. OR i can just slam those doors in their faces and make a case out of it. but i aint stupid and those guys in the video does not sound like they are stupid either (maybe they know a law a little bit too much so they assumed if "they cant do it = they wont do it"). what a surprise! sure trey were a bit arrogant but in their boots I would be too... I would send them to a tranining how to handle those situations better and be done with it.

Cops ask a lot of questions but they seem to learn nothing from them.
Cops even when there's lots of these cops as witnesses see the circumstances very differently than reality.

Super impressed with Jack, major props, and super impressed with Jack’s dad for keeping his calm and for the fact that he Informed, and taught his son how to engage the way he did. Wow, so impressed! I’m gonna show my kids this because I would hope they would try to act as such.
That kid and his father are incredible! Those cops are examples of why America needs complete police reforms!
They ended up doing the same thing dumb criminals do when caught in the act and still act innocents, except here it's worse because they behave as if they have legal and moral authority.
i hate the kid
lol if u see developing country cops e.g india u will cry .. they don't even follow law and they will destroy anytone life if they want to
The national conversation had a chance to examine western policing after the George Floyd incident.
Something I have personally noticed before, and made total sense the way the Prof said it.
police are dominant because they are supposed to have control over the suspect
I like the Young guy is argumenting. And he is so respectful in the situation!

Credit where credit is due.
Wait, so you randomly decided to call a police department questioning if they still held people recorded in the video as their employees and they decided to just answer you? I must respectfully disagree that these officers are somehow disgustingly bad. Yes, "they are untrained, legally low information, don't know how to perform their duty" but whose fault is that? There are no bad children, bad dogs, and few bad police officers. But there are bad parents, bad dog-owners and bad police forces that are incompetent and violent. And here's the elephant in the room: POLICE UNIONS that make it very hard to fire bad officers. This is why BLM is so full of shxx.. they scream racism but never address the REAL issues.

"not as strong"
LOL.
P.S. They're still "constitutional rights" in Canada (you don't have to refer to them as "charter rights"), as the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was put forth as part of the Constitution Act of 1982
That is a great comment. Is there a specific title of book that you are reading or is it straight from the Canadian government?
This comment needs more attention!!
It's a sad commentary that a 15 year old thinks he smarter than an adult. His cocky attitude is gonna get him some jail time or a toe tag.
